The Everything Except Fabric Softener store bit is one of my favorite jokes from the original books. It was born out of a scenario where they need specifically fabric softener to solve a crisis, and they figure "Hey, there's that one super store that just opened up that supposedly sells everything." So they go there and discover that this is what it's called. The fact that they brought that back for the movie despite it having no plot relevance tells me that this was made by the right people.

Just wanted to say something since I’ve rewatched this I feel like Mr. Krupp has read all the comics George and Harold have made in full. During the whole Hypno ring scene, Mr. Krupp becomes animals that the boys name. Krupp would only be able to become those things because he knows what those are. If Krupp truly didn’t really care for the comics, he probably wouldn’t have been Captain Underpants. Probably would’ve just be nothing. But he does become the captain. And during when they’re in the treehouse, Captain Underpants holds the plunger and reminisces about the comic that probably had him beating a robber over the head with a plunger. CU, if Krupp didn’t read the comics in full, probably wouldn’t remember what that plunger meant. But because he did, CU knew what the plunger meant. Meaning Krupp probably did somewhat enjoy the comics. Or maybe I’m just overthinking things, idk. Just a neat thing I thought of.

Captain underpants is so genius. Dav pilkey wrote about kids, for kids, from the perspective of kids. If they were in these crazy situations, they would think in the way you see them think in the story. They would think "oh cool. We've just hypnotised our teacher" because, instead of freaking out, kids are curious. There's just all this madness, and then the kids' reactions to it. Kids had to be put in these situations because an adult's reaction would be boring or depressing. This next section is devoted to Dav Pilkey. If you are reading this, I feel honoured. I read all of your books growing up, and your absurd stories mixed in with great characters and a greater general feel really made me feel better after whatever problems I was going through. Your books were a great way of just escaping my worries and fears. I could just enter this world that brought me joy every time I turned the page. You were there when no one else was. Thank you for being the one who provided happiness.
