Today Alex takes the RocHobby Waco YMF-5 out to do some flying with his buddies Matt and Ian. This little biplane is a great plane for many reasons and after an unexpected collision, we find out if durability is one of those reasons.

For re-expanding crushed epo foam i use a cloth and a bowl of boiling water. Dip the cloth in the water and press it onto the crushed epo. After a few applications it nearly expands back to its original shape. Dry it off and glue it together. Almost as good as new! I have laminated foam wings too and it is very strong afterwards.

My RocHobby WACO has rigging and different cabanes and strutts. Also has LED on the wing tips. It's lovely to fly and totally aerobatic. Rolls happen PDQ and loops are not a problem. Same battery option 2200mAh 25 C 3S. I do find the wheel pants make grass runway take-offs "interesting".

Great job guys! Would i be alone in wanting more coverage of the repair process? I'm ok fixing stuff but if i were starting out i'd need so much information. Right Thrust angle on the motor for example. A crushed nose repair will highlight the need for this. I realise theres only so much time in a video though.

MrCubcrazy who would figure two different companies making the same model would look the same. Lol. The dynam waco is a 50 inch wingspan. Got one in the hangar.

The discontinued Rockhobby Wacos had wire supports on the wings, spring shocks on the landing gear and an scale prop mount design. Unless they made a different one that resembles the Dynam, it is a Dynam.

Christian Harriot yes, i think it is the Dynam, as well. The color being non matching on the front cockpit is very telling. However, at the same time, the roc hobby waco only has flying wires if you install them, and they had the exact same paint job right down to the N number on the fuselage. I think it's more likely that the guys at flite test know what plane they are flying, however, don't you.

Shelby Seelbach, valid point about the wires. However, looking at the parts of their Waco in the video and comparing them to images online, there is mo doubt that it is Dynam. I have one and I flew with the other today. Also, if you look at the last bit of the video where a jump is made, the plane is large. If it looks like a duck and swims like a duck...

Christian Harriot yes, the first part of my last comment was that i think it is the dynam as well. This plane, in yellow, is hanging on my wall right now about ten feet from me. Second part of my statement was the fact that the battery hatch (front cockpit) is a different color than the rest of the plane, just like the dynam waco hanging on my wall. Last part was that it would be weird for them not to know which plane they are flying.
