I discovered that deck cleaner with oxalic acid removes water stains, too. Just rinse really well when done. Also, you can use water based sealer over oil based stain. Rule of thumb: water over water, water over oil. NEVER oil over water. Water-based products like latex paint and acrylic paint need to breathe for quite a while before they cure. So they can go over oil, but they can never go under oil. Great job.

I laughed when you said “it wants to throw itself into the landfill “ , it was a rough looking piece, but you gave it special beauty. Gorgeous in the end. Linda Beals.

Great decision to leave some of the stained surface on top. I had to do the same thing on a coffee table because I burned through the veneer, but it turned out okay and looked intentional. Tinting the wood filler is a great idea, and I learned about using the triangle square to line up the drawer slides.

Your piece looks really nice, thank you for giving it a beautiful paint stain combo. I never cared for blonde finishes, they look cold. I don't know why it was ever a 'thing' 🤔

Thank you for watching and I hope I've inspired you to create something beautiful! I personally love these MCM pieces. They are my favorite to work on. I agree, the blonde finishes are boring. Its so funny the trends us humans go through LOL

I think there is an alkali in bar keepers friend and it's abrasive. Great for cleaning up metals, but I would never use it on wood. Oxalic acid (wood bleach) would be a better choice.

You must clean the residue from the bar keeper’s friend with water.

I did wipe it over with some water but I probably could have done a better job with that step. Knowledge for the future! 😊😋

Love the piece and the video. Can you explain why you diluted the paint and the ratio? Thanks for sharing!

It’s usually 10% water added to the paint. I do this just because it helps the paint go on smooth. It’s glides better creating less marks in the paint. You could also use a spray bottle and spritz the furniture before you start painting. Thanks for watching, I hope I’ve inspired you to create something beautiful today! 😊
