Dear Arvin, I wonder if replacing the black stones with lighter color pebbles would soften the look on the floor-while you decide on a bigger renovation. It’s nice to see you again on KZbin…sending you well wishes ❤😊
@emmar30356 ай бұрын
My opinion: I love the black stones. Something to think about with a white stone, is it may cause a tripping hazard as you may not notice they are smaller stones. If you do decide to use a lighter stone, perhaps a light gray or other complementary color. Maybe it looks different “in person” and I’m being overly cautious. In any case, I know you will, after pondering. Bit, come up with the perfect design. 🫶

"Leave room for magic to happen"-- I love that! Cutting down the legs of that table was a great idea. That bare atrium wall could use a geometric outdoor screen hung as art, or a wide planter of clumping bamboo, or frame a piece of outdoor fabric as art.

I’m so jealous of your atrium! The possibilities are endless. Wall art, fountain, sculptures, and all the plants. You might be able to find a metal piece of art for the back wall, that isn’t tacky. I’ve been looking for one myself and haven’t had much luck, but you have an eye for places to look. Can’t wait to see what you do!

@emmar30356 ай бұрын
Or an art feature on that wall. I think the plants seem…not right because that wall needs fewer items, 13:40 and one large statement piece, the sofa, the light and maybe 1 or 2 plants.

You are sure to come up with the right magic as you live with the atrium. Give it time. For the blank wall, picture it covered in vines for a Bauhaus feel. Right now, the furniture is unavoidably matchy-matchy, but that’s just a temporary state of affairs, till the magic asserts itself. It is a lovely room that you can be proud to entertain in.

The Atrium is such a stunning feature. I agree that it should be a minimal space. Less furniture . More plants and add a water feature. I don't mind the geometry of the black rocks but white rocks would give a more minimal look. Arvin Please consider that those rock filled channels might allow for DRAINAGE OF RAIN WATER. I want you all and your home to be safe and sound. ❤

I definitely agree about the floor now that we’re revisiting the Atrium. Solid would also make it easier to move furniture around. I do like the current symmetry but I’m also just like you and rearrange things over and over again. I definitely think thoughtful minimalism would-I thought that plane was flying over MY head, I was looking around. But I think thoughtful minimalism with your plant choices will definitely help!

Loving those chairs. Perfect choice. Also, I like your choice of structural plants and planters. Agree with others, a water feature might be nice. If it holds enough water, it could be cooling, while masking neighborhood sounds. If you don’t like the rocks among the pavers, what about stained and sealed wood strips in between? Excited to see all your choices, Arvin, because you have such a good eye.

@meercatt6 ай бұрын
I do like the symmetry since you have the lines in the floor. Maybe you could put something off center in the siding redo. Like some of those linear wood slats from the MCM era? Or some kind of mural/art that is weatherproof? It is definitely softer than your normal style .. but it is lovely. 🥰

Hello, someone may have already mentioned it, but have you seen where they do any acid wash on plain concrete and make it look like other textures? We use to use a boarding kennel that the front entry looked exactly like those polished wood slab tables. It was amazing, but I've seen other finishes as well. The house is coming together so wonderfully.
@anniecostello29696 ай бұрын
Hi Arvin, I am with you, one large concrete slab instead of the grid pavers in the atrium...maybe until then, get smaller rocks/pebbles in a lighter, beige-ish color. We have a beige pebble border on the back patio and love it…I like the pebbles shiny so we mixed them with a light coat of lacquer before we laid them down. The lacquer helps keep them in place too.

I watched a video on the channel this evening and knew that you had to see the house. The Architect and Designer is a young man named Win. The video is called the Skyscape House. The house has wooden ceilings, and has a mid-century "vibe" to it. I just know you will be amazed to see how it was expressed. I know you will love it. This young Designer is very talented and has an amazing future ahead. It has English subtitles so you will love the Channel Host and the Designer. Enjoy ! Best, Rick

I love your atrium, especially with the symmetrical placement of your furniture and planters. I do think you'd enjoy the space more if you had a few more larger plants with big soft leaves, rather than any more spiky leaf varieties. You may want to consider adding plants that are large, but that have varying heights to make your plant vignettes more interesting. Looking forward to your next video!

I completely agree with you about the tree! I think that you need something to lift the eye up. Visual interest. Everything is too horizontal and low to the ground. It’s a work in progress. I think you’ll know once you and Andrew get the wall “fixed”.
@TheDanish_girl6 ай бұрын
Hi Arvin I think you need some metal for texture, perhaps a steel table or huge sheet of steel on the big white wall. I also think you need some big leafy plants, maybe deep red or white hostas, for texture. And some water maybe, for ambience. A big full size outdoor rug could also do something, to call down the lines. The furniture seems a bit too similar, like a 90’s set buy, maybe switch the two chairs for one special chair in a totally different material, black cast iron or so, so you would get more of an sculptural piece and the heaviness and symmetry will be gone. Hope this will inspire you 🙏🏼

I think even replacing that charcoal gray gravel would improve things. Too much contrast makes it kinda busy. Maybe like an aqua color, give the visual effect of little streams? Once you fix that wall, it will be so much better and less stressful! I ,ove the lsyout of the atrium furniture. It just needs the right plants. Don't do matchy, matchy on both sides. Maybe have a pop of color that can also be picked up in the art you'll put on the wall. Maybe an outdoor rug to ground everything and hide the floor as much as possible Just warm up the space as you're doing and it will feel homey, lived in, and beautiful. Whatever plants you end up with, get some great planters. Love the new outdoor furniture and the coffee table. Do seal it, it's too beautiful to warp.
@pavana28106 ай бұрын
Arvin can you just change the color of the pebble to match the concrete. You might actually need the pebble for drainage. That would make it less contrasty. Get tumbled pea gravel so you can walk barefoot. And please please collab with benjiplant on your atrium. Also what do you think of using one of your outdoor rugs.
