Can you just use the lever open no guard instead of using the #0 guard closed?

Yes. Most barbers create the second line that way. Then, #1 guard for the third line.

no but there has to be a contrast between light and dark to create the fade look. Bald will make the fade pop more.

the hair style nice but everything whack. I'm not feeling the line up. the beard line up horrible. Im going to assume the customer wanted the hair/beard dye but from the video he didn't look like he needed it. so to me in my mind that's something you (the barber) suggested. that haircut right there probably cost this dude at least between $45 to $80 smh. sorry just my opinion.
