This is one of the EASIEST driver methods I have seen! I have never seen this on KZbin before! If you get this right you have a SERIOUS chance of breaking 80! If you want to break 80 I highly suggest you watch this video, this golf tip went down a storm with my golf clients!
Did you know only 2% of golfers break 80! This is because golf is so OVERCOMPLICATED! This golf tip will show you steps on how to break 80 EASILY!
This is an easy way for a mid handicap golfer to save shots on the golf course! This golf tip video with driver covers tee height, set up and working on hitting the driver on the up, hitting the driver longer, hitting the driver further. Golf tip is also very important and has a big impact on whether you can hit the golf ball longer, hit the golf ball further.
This is how mid handicappers can break 80 with no swing changers. If you are a beginner golfer, senior golfer, mid handicap golfer, this drill will work for you and get you controlling the club face, squaring the club face, hitting the driver longer, lowering your scores, reducing your handicap! This is how to break 80! How to break 80 is one of the most common questions I see on the golf course. John lowered his scores and so can you!! Make sure you watch to the end of this KZbin golf tip as there is some huge hints in there that will really help you improve and most of all break 80!!

Now. I play with 3 other guys and play all winter as long as it's not raining or snowing and above 40 degrees. We live in Northeast US and haven't missed a week so far except for Christmas week. I will say that it doesn't look too promising after this week though. After a few holes it's surprising how warm you get.

Target is to get handicap into the teens, currently 24. Looking at my eclectic card it’s well doable just need to have some sort of game with the driver and avoid the 8,9’s I throw into my round

I guess I'm part of the 2%...although I've only managed to break 80 a handful+ of times. My target is s single digit handicap: 9! I really appreciated this lesson. I've often wanted to have a go-to "fairway finder" shot for the first hole, or a tight fairway, or to get settled if things are going awry. I feel that another place to use this type of shot is on a long par 3 (such holes are quite intimidating for me) using my 7-wood. To date, I was relying solely on tempo to achieve the "fairway finder"...I am excited to try the lower teeing and gripping down on the club to see how much these things help. Thanks!

Did this today, I hit one 272 and another one 268 in the middle of the fairway. Most drives were 250-260 first rough or fairway. My short game hurt me but still shaved 4 strokes. 90. With two better chips and one lip out and one water ball I could have shot my record. Looking forward to another round with these tips. My son finally listened and hit a few 270-280 bombs!!!

I actually started doing this about a month ago. I just imagine hitting the ball only 150 yards. What bought me to this process was Annika Sörenstam driver swing of “thinking 6”. On a scale of 1 to 10, Annika thinks about swinging her driver only “6” or 60%. I’ve been hitting my best drives ever since! ⛳️

Many years ago, I use to work in the golf industry. One of my most effective tips, was to get my students hit their 7 irons to the 100 yard marker, but they had to accelerate in their downswing. Many people get into a “hit mentality” while bracing for impact. By using the above drill, firstly, they knew they could easily hit their seven iron 100 yards and secondly, their technique became effortless and rhythm improved tremendously. Shortly after performing this drill, they were able to begin weight shifting with more speed while keeping their new found rhythm. This drill worked with even advanced players who get out of sorts. Next time you are on the range, warm up with this drill, take your hands out of the equation, strive to hit the ball solidly, then begin spanking it out of the park.

Tried this tip this morning and by slowing down and not trying to hit the dimples off the ball my drives went further and straighter with less effort. It seems contrary to common sense that hitting slower / more softly gets you further but I proved it today on the course and was hitting up to 20-30 yards further than before. Thanks to Alex for this video. I watched it at 7am and was getting the benefit by 8am.

Great tips as usual, Alex. Hitting a full driver on holes that don't require it can lead to a harder second shot. Course management is a huge component in being hit consistently under 80. And these are great tips, Alex.

Hi Alex. After watching a video of yours this week, where you recommended setting up the driver head more with the tip, to then hit more center... I took that tip to the range yesterday. And, paired with 2, 3 other minor adjustments.... I suddenly hit the driver. Straight. With distances I couldn't even dream of before. And I struggled with the driver for months. One of those other tweak was tee height. I lowered it to just one ball height. Works like a charm. For now, I may not hit further than 175 yards. But I am sure, that will get better over time ad well. For now I am just happy I am finally hitting that darn thing constantly good.

I always better on my driver than my other club, so a lot of my friends come to me for a driver advice (most of them slice the ball). And this is exactly what i’ve told them: “60 meters is your target”. And just like that, in less than 5 minutes their slice is gone and the ball went at least 180 m (most of them is very new to golfing, so reaching 180m straight in the middle, only exist in their dream). Swing slow n smooth always get the job done

Hey Alex this lesson really resounds for me. I am inbetween swings, my old swing I could hit some bombs but lots of hooks or pushes. The new swing is straighter but shorter. Out of frustration with the new swing I went back to the old but decided to swing as light as possible and hit 1 of my best drives far and high with a slight push draw. Felt the club whip through the ball but it didnt feel fast, instead it felt loose. Kept trying to recreate it but only managed once in like 100 balls at the range. Plus it doesnt work with irons, results in very poor contact. But With the new swing, trying to hit it light never resulted in a further higher drive.

So, I followed all the advice of teeing the ball high, half the ball above club face. My drives went left, went right went everywhere. This has been going on for a long time. Today with my last 5 practice balls I followed this video’s advice, teeing up much lower. The result was 5 straight drives with good distance. Just hope I get the same result tomorrow, but it definitely gives me something to work. Ps I’m a 14 h p.

Just found your video today 3rd February 2023. For the first time in 23 years playing this game I went round in 79 on a par 72 course (SSS 69.8). In the strangest coincidence the difference was that I stopped using pink castle tees (half ball above top line of driver) and went back to my old tees but deeper in the ground to put the top line of the ball LEVEL with the top line of the driver face - exactly what you suggest in your video. So I can definitely confirm that your advice worked.

For years I have been swinging my arms out of my sockets and almost never got over 200 yards due to crazy spin numbers. With this easy layed back swing I am, with no effort at all, almost there. No spin apparently. I feel I can now build on that, making this move's speed increase one step at the time keeping spinrates low. I will get to 250 I'm sure. Thx a lot. Crazy efficient tip.

A long time back I cut my driver down an inch lower than normal for my swing/height/fingertips-to-ground setup -- yes, I definitely hit it a little shorter, but definitely more control. When I was younger (and breaking 80) I would hit it further but much more wildly, many times a draw onto the next fairway. I'd rather be in play with a bit more to go nowadays, even though I don't play very much. Thanks for some extra tips here to put into action!

Choking down a bit, and slower swing speeds, creates great control, the better distance is coming from square contact, the odds of hitting the center of the face greatly improve. I don`t hit nearly as far when I try to kill the ball, I am 61 years old now, I only come back 3/4 of what I used to on my backswing, i`m hitting the fairways, not getting in any more trouble. I went from a 12 hndcp to a 7 this golf season, I shot 50 every week for 2 years, cutting down my backswing, and some forward shaft lean with my irons, I finished the season with, 43 - 43 - 45, I rarely hit in the trees, or even loose a ball anymore.

Alex hitting your driver is the most important part and the mechanics of your long game and is the number 1 reason for high scores I see golfers with a driver in their bags get to the 1st tee and are so afraid to hit it and opt for an iron instead which results in dropping shots at the very first hole so your off to a bad start, how do I know this? well this is and was me I'm spending the whole of the winter learning to hit my driver consistently to get distance but as you are saying in this video keeping the ball in play, if all of us can just keep the ball on the fairways or the light rough we will enjoy the game much more, but on this holes of 400 yards or more you need a driver of if your a big hitter a 3 iron as we are not pro's its the driver. Also I believe that it will make hitting your irons better straighter longer as they are a much shorter in length. Alex if you can master this one club the confidence alone will help you lower your score if you can hit a 45 inch driver straight then what will this do for your iron play, so far ive spent two months putting this into practice and its working my really bad hooks and slice have reduced dramatically and although on some hits I might be a little left or right the ball would still be in play, people will then say what about your short play well that doesn't require power and control this video is great because your teaching the mechanics needed.

It’s kind of hard to go into detail in a KZbin comment, but it basically means you’re swinging the club way too upright, which sometimes comes from starting your swing with a shoulder turn, but then your shoulders stop and you lift the club straight up in the air with your arms. Focus on making a good full shoulder turn with your lead shoulder under your chin and swing the club more around your body. Hope this helps. Tons of videos out there. Just do a KZbin search on swing plane. If you practice by yourself I recommend getting a tripod to set up your phone and take videos of your swing so you can see what it looks like compared to what it should look like. Then monitor your progress
@minno234
@minno234 Жыл бұрын
Video your swing from head on - a phone will do. then compare with a pro/low handicapper, concentrating on how steep/shallow your takeaway is.. Another test is to place a tee in the ground two feet behind your ball - you should be knocking that tee over.

In a 9 hole round I normally shoot a 43. A bad score might be 46 a low score might be 42. Generally a 43 is about right. During a round I ended up breaking my driver's adjustable weight out on the third hole. I tee'd off with my three wood the rest of the round. I ended with a 44 and a 39 on the back. The 39 was my all time low score. I think I might have missed one fairway on the back nine. I think it is the first shot off the tees that kill the score. You put yourself behind just as the hole starts. If you miss on your second shot, generally you are still chipping or pitching and still might be able to save par. I played the rest of the year far less aggressive off the tee. Great advise!!!

I had that problem with a 10.5 degree driver. I was hitting it too high. No roll. I switched to a 9 degree (couldn't find a 9.5) that I picked up at clearance for just $70. Now I average about 225. Which (I think) is OK for a 70 year old.

Alex, just tried the smooth driver drill on the course today. I hit 8 of 11 fairways. Smoked several way past my normal tee shots. Thanks

Problem we get into is when everyone in your foursome is pulling out drivers. I just hit my 3 wood, especially on tighter courses. Golf is more fun in play.

this is how i play... 2 guys consistently hit 270-300 and their swings are soooo fast... if i need to hit a fairway, 3wood.. get it to 230-240, then a low iron in. sounds like u play to your strengths & dont worry about them

Don't know your age or for how long you been playing but you should not be discouraged. I only started playing about year and half ago, and I am now at a stage where I can hit almost all my clubs pretty ok, not really well though. A lot of practice and don't focus on distance has helped me a lot. Every time i forget this golden rule and try to hit the ball real hard I screw up. I hit the driver at 250 on the range, but almost never go for that long on the course. Usually do a 70% swing and its 200-230 and always playable, mostly fairway. Same with all other clubs. hit my 5 wood 200 on the range but never more than 170 on the course. and I always calculate it on my mind to get a bogey and if I get a par that's a bonus. So just swing easy and just focus on hitting the ball, and not having right posture and tempo etc... that is for later.

I'm 64. Play from blue tees, white at times and never senior tees. Haven't shot out of the 70s in a few years now. I work on chipping and getting up and down and rarely ever hit balls on a range other than to warm up. Oh, and I still out drive most young guys... 😉

Alex: Not that long ago we were being told by teaching pros " tee it high to let it fly". Now you've gained over 60 yards by lowering the tee ! Can you clarify please ?
@AlexElliottGolf
@AlexElliottGolf Жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree!! But my point here we have to have the options. Teeing it down gives us that. I have 3 tee heights. 1. Tee it high for long all out driver. 2. Medium height for fairway finder 3. Low tee into the wind shot

Ok Alex. I’ve watched this video numerous times and I still don’t see any relevance to the content compared to the thumbnail. A genuine mistake on your part or incredibly annoying clickbait?
@knightwatchman

The thumbnail shows the ball being teed up lower. The top of the ball is even with the top of the clubhead, instead of 1/2 ball higher than the clubhead.

The driver will probably only be 15-16 strokes on a round. Don’t try to fool anyone that those 15-16 shoots will make you brake the 80. Most likely you will have at least 36 putts so improve your putting instead of changing your grip on the driver 👹

One of my biggest annoyances at the range is tee heights. The green tees are slightly short for me and the yellow tees are way too high. There's no in between and often leave frustrated after duffing a load of drives. Particularly when I've been hitting my irons really well. Great tips there, love your vids. No 30 minute long videos making promises to make me a scratch golfer, just practical advice that has really helped my game

This point EXACTLY. I go to a range that has a machine set the tee height. It gives you 4 options and the highest is way too high and the one below is way too low. Really frustrating!

Exactly what I was thinking, there should be much more control over tee height at ranges. Ranges have got to up their game - to help us to up ours.

You can buy a range tee which sits flush with the mat but allows you to insert your own normal tee. Only problem is you might fire some tees forward and maybe not allowed to go and get them.
