Thank you so much, Sandria. Yes indeed, I think most of us with larger gardens are in a constant war with the weeds. We hope the silage tarps will help out a lot. It also puts into perspective how large our gardens are. We've gone through several 150'x6' rolls of silage tarp and still need more to finish the orchard area. Happy gardening 🌱

Weeds can be a pain in the Butt!! We try to keep the grass close to the house cut down also. We love the containers along the fence. Rain makes the grass grow back fast. Great garden update! Everything looks amazing. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your weekend

Thanks Mr. CB. We are using a heavy duty silage tarp and think it will help, if I can avoid ripping it with the riding mower. LOL I'm right behind you on getting too old to waste all my time fighting weeds. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Yes indeed, Nikki. We've seen a few mice and a couple of snakes this year. Not a lot but we'd prefer seeing none. And the rabbit population has exploded, which has attracted red foxes. We'll get things managed though. Have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks Brian. We try to keep the areas as clean and clear as we can but sometimes Mother Nature or life plans keep us out of the garden. And the weeds love our fertile soil as much as our fruit trees and vegetable plants. LOL

It’s a ton of work but in addition to the food you produce you also get opportunities to use all the gardening gadgets and power equipment that you’ve got! The end result does feel good after the shower and cold drink! Lol! I tend to get kinda Zen when I have the hearing protection and power tools on! But today was a first reasonably not humid day in weeks so I did a totally Lawn Guyland thing…. I hosed down the driveway! Definitely Zen and on a hot sunny day very relaxing and satisfying! Thanks Bill and so true. I'm enjoy a cool glass of vino right now after weeding and working on a gate. A meddlesome possum dug a hole under our double gate, so I dug a trench an poured Quikrete in to make it harder for it to dig under again. You know what they say about boys and their toys? LOL Mine happen to be lawn and garden tools. It is definitely Zen like once you get in a groove. Have a great week, my friend.

Walking through your garden is always a new experience each time. Yes I recognise the chicken coop every time but then I never saw the planting against the fence. I guess the plants covered the fence. Nice thought to get them away to prevent mice which ultimately attract ssssss. Only some of them are actually bite bit who's going to stop and ask when you see them? Yes team work makes the dreams work. Greetings to the family.

Thank you so much. It is an experience for us too, as we sometimes forget what the other has planted and where. LOL Yes, the poison ivy and honeysuckle were camouflaging those beds a lot. Now we can clean them a lot better. We are trying to make the property less inviting for the four legged and no legged pests. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

It definitely is, Brett, but it is worth it to have room to grow so many varieties of different fruits and veggies. Hoping the silage tarp helps save us some time battling the weeds though. These old bones need more rest between weeding workouts. LOL

Hello Rob, a garden is a lot of work because of the weeds. I use to spend a lot of time pulling them out before our raised bed garden. I would not like snakes or mice. Pretty creepy. Beautiful flowers at the end. 💕NonnaGrace 🐓. My chickens love the Black Larva Flies too from Grub terra

Yes this time of the year it's mowing and weeding time all the time. To funny they why you said "our favorite treats". Thought you were going to give them scraps from the kitchen not something bought just for them, unless you snack on them too. 😂 Looks so much better.

Hahaha! Thanks Zaney May. We love giving them kitchen scraps too but the hens love the black soldier fly larva. We just try to alternate this with table scraps and green forage to keep them as healthy as possible since we don't free range.

Yes. We have sent a few to the upper room. We try to deter them but have to keep our living spaces safe.

I like your new orchard, have you thought about making a portable daytime chicken run to moved round the orchard, so a few chickens can help fertilise and get rid of pests.

Thank you so much. I have given it a little thought. We are just considering the benefits vs risk now. We have quite a few predators in our area. Foxes, raccoons, opossums, skunks, etc, that would love to feast on our small flock.
