What do you use for mulch and what is effective in keeping down weeds? Any advice would be greatly appreciated? Beautiful garden !

Hello! I mulch with hardwood mulch in my mixed beds, being careful to keep it very thin around the iris rhizomes. However in my main iris beds I do not mulch. I just weed really well in the spring and fall and apply preen. Really, the best thing to do is stay on top of the weeds and just pull some every time you walk by and see them. @@lanacameruci4523 I thought about using the preen but I was scared it would kill the plants I didn't want to kill but I will try some of that in a few of the beds and not right on the iris thank you so much for responding your Gardens are beautiful I watch the videos more than once and enjoy the colors, it is "like a tapestry". Alot of hard work there. I love how excited you get when you see a new one opening. I am new to growing iris and i am looking forward to add to my small collection.
