Mid May update on my Back Yard Veg Plot| Chitting seeds| Harvesting Comfrey for Compost making|
Its Mid-May and things are gradually progressing on our backyard veg plot- I have had some good success with chitting French bean and courgette seeds but my first trial of chitting Uchiki Kuri Squash seed was a non starter (though the seed packet was unopened and had 2027 as the use by date.
Tomatoes (Crimson Crush and bell peppers are planted and I'm starting to plant out in the beds - multi-sown beets, spinach, onions, Chard, Radishes, with Cabbages, French Beans, Turnips, spring onions, Lettuces to follow soon. I need to protect the young plants from Sparrows which can cause a lot of damage. I have also taken the first cut of Comfrey from the micro-orchard and using this to fill up my compost bin.
