I'm a 10-year retired NY guard who just stumbled on your channel. I have only caught a couple of videos so far, but I will say that your commentary has been 100% accurate. Great job on your storytelling, you bring me back on the job. We would have gotten along just fine. We may have crossed paths. You earned my subscription!

Thank you ever so much, I appreciate your words. One point I try to make to my viewers is that in life, in prison, in society, each and every person is an individual, with their own behavior and personality. Nobody can say all correctional officers are evil or abusive, because a large percentage are not. Nobody can say all prisoners are no good, because many are good people who became lost. It doesn't matter what the percentages are, everyone is individual. I just did a roofing job with a correctional officer who I met when he worked in the facility I was housed in. He always treated me like a gentleman so I looked him up when I got home, we got together, did a roofing job together and keep in touch. I never saw him abuse a single prisoner in many years together. I'm glad you retired and got out of there because it's a stressful place for all. Enjoy retirement, Happy New Year, and I wish you nothing but the best.

@22CONSERVATIVEFELON I was very lucky to retire in 2014 before the Matt and Sweat escape. Now, it's madness for the COs with 24-hour and more shift mandates. No more box time for the cons as a deterrent. What a mess it has become. I worked the outside crews for many years, and you seem like the kind of guy I would seek out for outside clearance. I'm looking forward to your content. Happy New Year to you and yours!

What a small world. I was "retired" in 2010 as a 23 year NYS DOCS CO after getting wounded/disabled in Afghanistan. I received a Puppies Behind Bars service dog(Annie). I also visited one of the facilities to speak and thank the inmates for their efforts in training the dogs. I know Gloria and Nora very well and think they are wonderful people. I worked in Sing Sing, Green Haven, Greene and Summit Shock, mainly as a housing officer. I never had any major issues with inmates because I treated them with respect and often got it in return. Of course there were always exceptions but treating people decently made the job much easier. In the academy(Harriman) we were taught to be "Firm, Fair and Consistent" and that was key to my success in Corrections. Glad I just found your channel and good luck with it!!

@ Well really appreciate your comment, I worked with Gloria and Nora for quite some time, trained many of the dogs and taught the men myself because i trained dogs before I went in on a professional level. I was in Sing Sing in 1999 then went to Attica. Over the years the guards never bothered me except a few exceptions of ones who were trouble makers or if I asked for it when I was young, other then that they saw the way I did time and left me alone. I’m glad you are out of there. My father retired as a police lieutenant and went to Bagram Afghanistan for five years, he’s got some stories. Thanks for watching and happy new year

Dear Fish.... I just recently found your fantastic channel. I have been to hundreds of post prison KZbin channels and yours is absolutely the best. I love to hear your stories because they are not filled with fake drama and bullshit that they think people will admire. Your stories are great, interesting and have a distinct flavour of truth. Thanks so much for what you do. I am 70 years old and spent a number of years in the fed at Atlanta, Jessup and finally at Tallahassee. I'm really enjoying all your videos and keep up the good work. Hello, I caught one of your videos on KZbin while flipping through. I just want to say the content of your videos and the sincerity in which you tell your story is one of the most truly impressive, and interesting things I have seen, and listened to in a long time. To me, someone who has by the Grace of God, never been through the system. Listening to your life in prison stories has got me hooked on your channel. You are very articulate, you get your story across with a heartfelt sincerity. I applaud you for turning your life around, and I admire you for breaking down some of what it’s like to be in prison. You with what you are doing, might just save the next person who is heading down the wrong path see the light. I wish you the best in life my friend, and I will continue to follow you and your journey. Merry Christmas, and a Happy, Healthy New Year to you and your family.

A guy from my old neighborhood passed thru Mid-Orange. This was in the 80's, he started his time in Coxsackie- made his way to Mid Orange. He said there were no fences, that you could"walk right out". He said two prisoners had just done that, were caught ,sentence added(obviously) and transferred to a max. I, along with the rest of his TRUE friends told him "don't f___ around, finish your time-stop f___ing up, or .....". He finished up, it ended well. Always stuck in my mind-he said it was still prison but much easier than the max.Figured I'd share this. Great videos brother-you seem stand up,your perspective is amazing. All the best & Happy New Year. Stay Blessed

Happy New Year! I graduated Warwick HS in 1988, and used to play basketball against the prisoners. The NYS Troopers were always boarding our school bus to check for escaped inmates. There had been a serial killer named Nathaniel White on the loose in Orange County. Many NYC mafia members and NYY players also frequented the hunting lodges, and at Greenwood Lake. My Father was a Sergeant in the Chester NYPD in the 1970's, and had a police scanner in the house. Sugar Loaf NY had been the site of the shot gun murder of an NYS Trooper in the mid 70's, thar Chester and Warwick PD assisted in the investigations...I had been arrested several times for fighting etc, and my Father said the other NYS prisons were much worse...Thank you for the content. Happy 2025!

G’day Fish 🐟 how ya go’n mate. Another great vid. I’ve never personally been in prison or in cuffs or any trouble for that matter. But I’ve always thought being in prison & surrounded by the majority of the dregs of society “animals” as you previously said would make one’s sentence a lot worse. Dealing with people at work & in general is bad enough with the backstabbing & 2 face personalities. But prison is another world away in comparison, you must be so glad your free.. Binging these as i drive my semi around long island/nyc/NJ !My dad was a guard at clinton max for 32 years. He was one of the laid back guards. He used to tell me he just treated inmates with respect if they gave it back. But yeah he wwsnt power tripping. He actually hated his job and just did it for the $ and state benefits. He was a heavy drinker (as a lot of COs are) from all the BS he saw. He died at age 57 from alcohol abuse. Before he died he told me some stories about what he saw so pretty sure he had ptsd. Told me he saw a guy getting poked up over a walkman. He was a rookie and went to run in and break it up and an OG black inmate who was not involved in the stabbing, who my dad just happened to got along with, said Mr Breen Mr Breen dont do it stay back theyll kill you! So my dad just said he just waited for back up just stunned as he was watching a man lose his life over a walkman. He started to get choked up as the OG probably saved his life and he did not forget that. Great story telling you have a real talent. Hoping this podcast blows up 🙏🙏👌👌

Really appreciate your story and words. I'm sorry to learn your father passed. Sounds like he was a good man and good officer. I'm quite sure he witnessed a great deal, and yes, it causes ptsd on many levels. I watched a man get killed on a single AA battery which cost eleven cents. That's right, over an eleven cent battery. One prisoner borrowed another prisoners radio, took the good battery out and replaced it with a dead battery. The one prisoner discovered this and stabbed the other over the disrespect of it. It cost him his life.

I know you speak the truth! I know Shlomo spent time in Nap, and yes he was a paratrooper in the Army back in Israel. He would show me the pictures of him sitting on the tanks in the sickest physical condition. And yes, I also knew Psycho from Mid-Orange, another tough dude. In the old days, before I went in, Shlomo was selling dope in prison to put his kids through college. There was a group of individuals who didn't appreciate the fact one Jewish guy was making all the money so they attacked him as he was sitting on the toilet in his cell and stabbed him over ten times with icepicks. As Shlomo fought back one of the guys ran but Shlomo grabbed one guy, pulled him back into the cell and started stabbing the guy with the weapon he took from him! I remember him showing me all the puncture wounds in his forearms from defending himself. Shlomo was more than tough, he was an animal!! If we are talking about the same Psycho that we know, you mean Spanish Psycho correct?

Appreciate the comment and advice. I don't let it bother me, but sometimes respond just to point out to them how ignorant they are. Whatever I express comes from my heart, I speak mostly fact and not opinion, so if someone thinks it's nonsense or has something stupid to say, I just brush it off because I am confident in what I speak about. I am what is called a critical thinker. I don't give advice or speak without first analyzing and evaluating what I'm about to express. I step back from subjects, examine them before I speak on them to the best of my ability. Most just speak on their emotion or because they allowed someone else to influence them without really thinking. Big difference. Thanks for following along, thank you

One of my closest buddies, while growing had a cousin who was in & out, didn't do long bids but served time nonetheless. My friend's older sister used to tell him he was doing "life on the installment plan". He never complained/cried/bitched etc-took it like a man,but sadly kept ending up back inside. Anyway-he used to tell us what was up,how to play the game (IF) but always stressed that prison was not "the place to be" (wish he would've taken his own advice). It was kind of an informal "scared straight"-didn't scare us but it sunk in and alot of us realized- b4 it was too late

Hey I remember your face! :-) You are the one who wondered how a wife could sleep next to me without being worried. LOL Don't worry, I understand your concern. I'm a teddy bear. New Years inside SUCKED! I cried every time the clock stuck midnight, but had to see it as another year closer to going home, which it was. With that sad, holidays were tough, away from family and loved ones, reflecting on mistakes and things I should have done differently. Anyway thanks for watching, appreciate it. I really am pretty normal...well, half normal. :-)

38 min video when feeling sick? Look forward to hr plus when you feel better LOL, Did I already ask you about your training ritual inside & perhaps making a vid? I think you are around 5.6 so that stature is great for bench press. A friend told me when he started training the prisoners noticed his expertise as he was a bodybuilder & did competitions & 1 week in he had 6 guys training with him, seems like a great way to have other guys have your back? Forget the trolls & wasting comments their looking for a response to feed on.Congrats on 2 K subscribers, never seen a channel grow this quickly, you should feel proud of this as your vids are reaching the masses, Get better soon Brother,RR

When I say in the video that Mid-Orange was "great" I don't mean that I'd like to be back there as some viewers may think, I mean it was great compared to other prisons. It was a nice break, hardly any violence, no stabbing or cuttings, here and there a fist fight so it was much less tension.

Joe, I've never been in prison. I just want to say to not get to hung up on these keyboard commandos/tough guys that hide behind the screen. There are a small percentage of assholes on here that will say lies and "troll" you to get you upset or argue with you. They are called trolls because they troll for trouble or attention. They're mostly pathetic little cowards. Anyway youll fond a lot of that on the web and in your channel . Try to ignore them. You are doing a great job. I'm sure being an ex prisoner is not easy in many ways, mentally , financially, etc etc. Anyway you are doing great, my prayers to you.

I don't think I mentioned that Mikey's last name started with a 'V' so you definitely got that right! Mikey was a good dude, was one of the few that knew how to do time, did a lot of it, and would take care of people all the time in there. I spent a lot of time in there with Mikey. It was him and another guy Anthony that landed me the job I wanted in the draft room. I'm sorry to hear he passed, he was not old. I still have all his personal info in my phone book!
