Side Note: if anyone is interested , you can also make Water soluble potassium by takin a potassium rich plant , dry it , then turn it to a bio char, (slowly cooking it over a fire in a Dutch oven with a lid to pyrolyze it in a low oxygen environment.) Add the bio char to water, let sit for 7 days and that water will have plant available Potassium. I’ve found a study from North Carolina state University on “slow pyrolysis bio char from sunflower straw” they do a similar process but also capture bio-oils and such , but confirm that simple bio char of high potassium plants will create a Water soluble Potassium. Chris trump has a video this WSK also . That Said , the method Nate is doing has many other benefits from the sugars and biology involved . Just putting some other ideas out there . Thanks Nate ! Every once in awhile I do a partial cremation when I process an animal. Big bones for broth, others go to barrel to burn Witt heavy logs. A day later I put into bin and soak to potash out of it. Otherwise impossible to bury with a LOT of work in my hard pack broken stones hard pack to keep the my dog of wild animals from “resurrecting” it. Did realize I was getting a second benefit!

Hmmm my mass of Mammoth Sunflowers may not all go to the goats after blossom and EATEN(FResh young paddies I call them, sunflowers sauteed with Garlic after the petals begin to fall away, so the little leaves get a crisp sear with spice along with my native pigweed (amaranth), and roots KEPT FOR CLEANING radio active isotopes from water, *dangleroots in water to remove cesium....**So hoping the root water cleanse never becomes necessary...

This can be applied FOLIAR or SOIL DRENCH it works great both ways... once fermented completely it will remain shelf stable for several months no problem.

It's funny, when I first stumbled on one of your videos I tought to myself "who's this guy?" Now you're my go to gardening video channel. Perfect balance of information and practical application with a very approachable way of explaining. Thanks for your all your efforts! One thing that I think would be beneficial would be to add a "filmed on" timestamp in the description verbiage; Many gardening videos (from basically every content creator) start with "now's the time of the season when", but sometimes videos are uploaded weeks after filming and worse, oftentimes KZbin lists upload dates relatively, like "uploaded 2 years ago, so viewers have to guess if they don't see the video immediately at release.

@@treymurphy6398 mine went over 2 weeks and had a few small grains in it because I used granular molasses and also added some bone meal for phosphorus, but I just strained it when I poured it into a separate container and diluted it 10:1 when using.

I love that huge house plant over the walls, it looks amazing! This looks like a great recipe, I'd just recommend testing the ph of your solution before applying it because you don't want to shock your plants and wipe out the microbial activity by changing the soil ph.

It's not going to do that. Once the fermentation is done the microbial life keeps the PH in check, especially because of the LABS.

@@josephjohn3857 I should have been more specific. The wood ash fertilizer he added is what I'm concerned about ph for, not the fermented banana peels. Some plants can handle a little bit of ashes, others go into shock and stop growing, and if you suddenly change the ph in the soil, the fungi and microbes can take a while to reach equilibrium again.

I realize I'm super late to the party, but I just made this Bloom Fertilizer, however, all my firepit ash has been constantly wet from the incessant rain we've been having. My question is whether I can use wet ash to add to the recipe? Also, is it an option to use the ash from my untreated Kingsford BBQ charcoal (it's dry). I'm afraid if I wait, I'll miss the entire bloom season :) I've learned so much from this channel and it's keeping me inspired in my teeny tiny garden. Thank you for that!

lol you can make in small batches for the postage stamp!... it'll keep for a long time once its fermented and totally liquified
