I also recently read the Green Bone Saga but have Jade Legacy left because I’m waiting for a friend to finish book 2 after suggesting it to him. You described why I love those books so much. Favorite book of the year that I’ve read: The Priory of the Orange Tree. The female characters are some of my favorite I’ve ever read. Favorite book released this year: The Familiar. I love historical fantasy with romance and the writing was just so beautiful. Most disappointing: Bride Most excited to read: Jade Legacy now! But also the Daevabad Trilogy. 🦄

💜 Hi, Crystal. I definitely want to read The Stranger I Wed. I have read and enjoyed all of her books and im looking forward to this one, too. I’ve started My Season of Scandal but I’m not doing much reading now, so I had to put it aside for a bit. My biggest disappointment this year so far was Project Duke by Mariah Stone. Plugged through it because I thought it might be worth it in the end but such a disappointment.

My favorite reads so far this year has been Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. These books got me out of a major book slump and made me excited to read and get lost again. I still think about these books all the time and wish I could go back and read them for the first time again. Love your choices, Crystal! I'm going to be starting Jade City tonight! Love seeing your reviews bc we have similar tastes in books. I also love the Jade City series. I recently read The Husbands by Holly Gramazio and it really hit me and I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind. I’m also enjoying the Everflame series. Like u said, it follows a formula, but I still find it entertaining. There’s something there and I’ve been nostalgic for a good romantasy. Thanks for your honest reviews! 💜

🪻a favorite for me this year has been rereading Romancing Mr. Bridgerton. For a fantasy favorite I've been reading the Eragon series by Christopher Paolini for the first time. I think Inheritance was my favorite in the series!

I'm currently reading "Jade War" and loving it, Hilo is my favorite too! I've loved him since "Jade City"! Oh and if you loved Orka from John Gwynne's books (I've only read the first so far) I know you have Sword of Kaigen in your TBR and there is a female character very similar (but not too much) to Orka. Same kind of mature woman who had a past as a warrior but stopped in order to marry and have a family until things go wrong.

I really enjoyed your picks and there were many here I have not read which is so refreshing...not the same 20 books everyone is talking about and over hyping in my humble opinion. Excited to try some of these. I don't have many 5 star reads, but I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson was one for me. I also went back in time reading an author I haven't read in what feels like a millennia Stephen King, I really loved Fairy Tale. Standout for worst book I read is Beautiful World Where Are You by Sally Rooney ugh. BTW I got to your page via Chandler Ainsley's channel:). Thank you for sharing.

I read the ACOTAR series this year, so I finally understand all the memes LOL. But really, I do get the hype. I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Laughed cried, and buddy read with my best friend, so it's officially engrained in my brain lol 💜

I originally DNF'd Jade City because I didn't realize it was an urban fantasy (which rarely works for me) but you've got me thinking here...🤔😂 And OMG Rocky is just the best!! I need more adorable alien side characters in my life 💜💜

I like urban fantasy but I definitely prefer high fantasy, but what sold me on the series is the characters and family relationships. The fantasy element is so light but also vital to the whole story, I have heard sone readers disappointed it wasn't more magical

favourite: six of crows but also i have really loved (most of) the maiden lane series by elizabeth hoyt which i have been reading this year and part of your world by abby jimenez. most disapointing Daughter of smoke and bone by lainy taylor (im sorry! the way that book just did not work for me kinda blew my mind a little bit) im really looking forward to a new kate bateman book in august and just continuing to work through my (slightly insane) TBR (i think jade city is in the pile somewhere maybe i;ll give that a go
