I'll have to pick up The Spear Cuts Through Water, because I'm with you on finding a Sanderson antidote.

✨My best book for 2024 has been”Apparitions” by Adam Pottle! Heartbreaking and hopeful, all at the same time! ✨

I tried reading a Brandon Sanderson novel. It made me laugh and not in a good way. Great video!

The Spear Cuts Through Water is a future classic! As for books like Robin Hobb, has anyone ever suggested you check out Jacqueline Carey's Naamah series? She gets up to similar shenanigans in terms of the emotional turmoil the characters go through. Might be worth looking into to see if it's worth a try.

Hey Juan, Have you checked out The Stranger - Albert Camus ? Being a psychoanalyst it would be interesting to hear your take on it. Also some sci-fi recommendations The Book of Skulls - Robert Silverberg Considering it was written over 50 years ago it's amazing that the author has a gay man as one of the primary characters. Dying Inside - Robert Silverberg Downward to the Earth - Robert Silverberg And for a classic recommendation Candide - Voltaire

I read Daughter of the forest and it is really good for Hobb fans especially if you want to some atmosphere and first person narrative that feels intimate and distinctive. Unfortunately the rest of the series is not as good or interesting because they focus on different main characters
