Good God, a betrayal in real time. Tough to see my guy Allen having to go through this.

Okay, this is weird, but what hit me hardest and got me crying was a specific recollection in, of all things, Cassandra Peterson's Elvira biography. I cried when I read the Story of Your Life, but I'd done so already several times to the movie adaptation (Arrival). I didn't cry but there were moments in We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Ocean at the End of the Lane, and The Shining (I must say the book has so many more tones and hues than the movie, even though I do love the movie).

If you like Bone Clocks you may like Cloud Cuckoo Land. It follows a piece of Ancient Greek literature through the centuries and has an autistic character that I thought was very well done.

For pure fun, I loved reading We Are Legion, Network Effect, Kaiju Preservation Society, Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone, and the first six installments of the manga Asadora! The book that probably made me the happiest is the graphic novel On a Sunbeam.

I just read the first sarantine mosaic book and really liked it. I would be interested to hear Allen’s opinion. I haven’t read the second one yet so I am up for a read a long. That and Yoshikawa.

A few of these could be answered with the Unselected Journals of Emma M Lion. Lots of great characters that make me happy.
