I was just looking for random book journal videos and clicked on this one, and I was not expecting it to be the most aesthetic flip through I’ve ever seen. So pretty. I want to start a book journal now. 😂✨

For the books around the spread, why not have 5 fill in types? These could correspond to your ratings. Perhaps a solid is a five star, lines are a four star, dots are three star, solid with lines is two star, snd solid with dots is one star. That way you not only see which countries you've read from but also a visual of how you've rated.
@guadacaram

I was about to comment how a few different fill in types would be cool! And corresponding with the ratings sounds amazing, I never would have thought of that!

That’s such a cool idea! I suppose if I read multiple books from one country I could average the ratings 🤔

@merel4518

i would actually colour the countries based on how many books you read from them! and if you can, i think a gradient would probably look nicer so something like: 1 book: lightest colour 2-4 books: darker colour 5+ books: darkest colour
@adoptedbythe1king
@adoptedbythe1king Жыл бұрын
@@merel4518 I LOVE this idea!!!! Trying to rate books from other countries is a little complicated to then translate to a single pattern on a map! And by going light to dark with how many you read, you could just add layers of color as you read more! It's genius! Maybe sticking with the tombows in that case?
@sophiahodgson85
@sophiahodgson85 2 жыл бұрын
I love how consistent your aesthetic is in your reading journal - mine is all over the place!! I think for the reading around the world spread could you have multiple colours and the colours correspond to how many books you’ve read from that country (you could layer tombow markers to get darker the more books you’ve read)
@RaptorsCantSwim
@RaptorsCantSwim 2 жыл бұрын
I think putting down a single black dot would be my choice for the reading around the world spread. I think it will look the nicest when complete :) Ps: You could try to print out a "test image" and try the method out beforehand. Just to get a feeling of what it will look like. :)
@PlantBasedBride
@PlantBasedBride 2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking of grabbing a quick picture on my iPad and using procreate to test different methods of filling in the spread! When you say a single black dot, do you mean just a small one inside the borders of the country somewhere?
@RaptorsCantSwim
@RaptorsCantSwim 2 жыл бұрын
@@PlantBasedBride Yes, exactly. I think that would look aesthetic and minimalistic. But that's just me. I was imagining something like those globes or maps where people put little pins to represent places they have visited. I think your idea with Procreate sounds perfect. There is no paper waste that way, and you can test out all the different methods and see what you like best :)

I love this! I've kept book journals but nothing this beautiful or elaborate. I really like the idea of having one for the entire year. I'm drawn to brighter colors so my idea for the countries spread is to take a color from the cover of the book read for that country to fill it in with.

I love your spreads so much. It’s giving me ideas for mine next year! Would you ever possibly do a detailed video listing how you do your stats and etc Or a video/just an explanation of the dimensions you use to create the favorite books bracket pages? I’ve tried recreating it but it looks funky and off. Again, love your spreads!!!

Thank you! I definitely could. For stats I track in a spreadsheet and then compile them into graphs using canva. And for the book bracket spread, I can give you exact measurements if you’re using an 8x8 notebook! Otherwise you’d have to adjust them to whatever size notebook you use ❤️

I adore your book journal videos, they are so inspiring. I do not manage such a beautiful and consistent aesthetic 😍 but I have gotten lots of ideas from your videos to reinterpret in my more messy and chaotic journal. I love how you do your monthly spreads, the book bracket and your reading around the world map, all of which I might incorporate going forward. I also do a spread for each book I read (I also do the ones I DNF explaining why) and can’t fit it all in one journal, usually it works out to about 6 months per journal - if I get to a point where probably I won’t fit a whole month in what is left, that is when I change to a new one.

What a fun idea! I just stumbled onto this, and enjoyed it very much. Have you ever done zentangle? That might be a neat way to fill in your countries. It can be as simple or elaborate as you like, but I figure it could create some beautiful visual interest mixed with some variety. I like the diagonal lines but some countries are tiny... So I'd color the countries- but with not 1 color... I would have a range of colors like light gray, medium gray and dark gray and each color rep's a #.... So if you've read 3 books from Canada - that would be dark gray Japan... 2 books... med gray... Peru... 1 book... Light gray Hope that makes sense! Appreciate your lovely spreads

I know how hard it is to read in a language that you don't speak everyday, but I found a method which simplifies things for me, and maybe it could for you as well. That is listening to the audiobook while following the lines in the physical/digital book. I hope this helps, and I send you a big hug from Italy :))

I don’t know how you feel about pencil crayons but I thought it would be cool if you just coloured it in with a pencil crayon that matches the same colour as the tombow marker you were wanting to use. It might pop a little bit more depending on how hard you colour it in. I feel like you could find that colour from a “skin tones” pack or something. Also this is referring to colouring in your world map journal page.

You could take the designs of their flags, either in full colour, or in shades of beige and gold?

I used to devour books. Sadly, the internet has broke my brain and I can't concentrate enough to read something that long anymore. How do you do it?
@PlantBasedBride

I feel this so much! Audiobooks are fantastic for this, and if you’re really struggling, I would recommend listening to the audiobook while you read the e-book or physical book. I find hearing and seeing the words simultaneously helps me not get distracted. Also, starting small with shorter books like novellas or short stories can be a really great way to get the dopamine rush of finishing a story which is great motivation to tackle longer works!

You could color in the countries with different shades of brown or green and maybe incorporate the genre. That probably wouldn’t make much sense if you read multiple books/genres from a country though 🙈

What did you use to print off the books for your 22 by 2022 book spread? I've been wanting to do a similar thing by printing off the covers of the books to remind me of the ones I want to read or mark the ones I have too!

Watching your videos always inspires me so much, I want to work on making my Bullet Journals just as beautiful! :D By the way, soon it's November again. Will you be participating in NaNoWriMo this year? And how is your novel going that you started last year? I'll be starting my third novel this NaNo and would love to add you as a Writing Buddy :) Is your name the same there as here? Wishing you a beautiful Sunday and a good start into the new week. Sending love and creative vibes

I haven't decided yet! November is always such a busy time of year for me, but I'd like to keep working on my sci-fi novel from last year. I haven't touched it since November 30th 😅

@@PlantBasedBride I can relate. The winter months in general are super busy. I finished the novel I started last NaNo this May. I cannot see yet how long it's really going to be. Either it's a stand alone or it might become a Duology. It will show when I start editing it :) In case you do decide to keep writing on your novel I wish you a wonderful time doing so and would be happy to read it some day :D
