Hey Scott, great / awesome video. We have the M32 with DL16 and 8 DP48s. Everything is working fine except we can not broadcast or remote control other DP48s. We followed your instructions but nothing. Could it be that the Hub4 is needed for this feature to work? I see others are having the same issue. The only difference between our setup and yours is the Hub4...
@ChurchTechTalks4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Marcos! As far as I know you can do both of those functions without a Hub4. I would make sure you’re using the latest firmware on your M32 and your DP48’s, then make sure the DP48’s are set up to receive broadcasts in settings, then plug one directly into AES50B and try to broadcast to a single DP48 plugged into AES50B. Trouble shoot with as little plugged in as possible, take out a lot of the unknown and complex routing and just get it working, then add things in and see what’s causing the issues. Good luck!! Let me know how it goes!

Question. Trying to setup remote. Have you ever had an issue with it not allowing you to turn remote on? I've got a Midas Pro 2 into a Klark Teknek(to convert 96hz to 48hz) into a DP48. Goes from that DP48 into a Hub 4. All the other DP48s from there. I can't turn the remote on on any of the DP48s. Can't find anything on this.

I hope somebody sees this question. Our church just bought 4 DP48's and the hub 4. We are using the Midas M32 console. Our praise team is slowly getting used to these but not totally using them yet. I'm new to this church's sound system and learning these fun new toys. Question, how do you get that home screen to change like is shown in the video? I realize this shows a firmware update but this video is 3 years old. Wouldn't the units we just bought be updated with the latest firmware? I'll look at them today and see what firmware we have. But..... is there a way one can choose what the home screen displays? Once again, I'm new to these things and I'm watching videos as fast as I can. Please excuse the a new persons's crazy question.

Thank you so much for these initial DP48 videos. They were immensely helpful in making our purchase decision and going through setup. We have one issue that we can't seem to iron out: unmuted emcee mics! For better or worse, our approach to emcee mics is to leave them turn on and unmuted at the source and leave the power of mute with the sound engineer. The problem with this approach is we can hear everything from the Lav including those dreaded trips to the urinal. Unfortunately, the group the emcees are in includes room mics, the MD, and some other misc. things. Have you found a way to setup the M32 to actually honor the mute? I'm wondering if using a p16 send will somehow work, but haven't wrapped my mind around it yet. Thanks!
@ChurchTechTalks2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you should be able to include the P16 feeds as the last 16 on the DP48’s, then set your P16 tap points to PreFdr +M. That will make it so the FOH’s fader level won’t effect your ears, but muting that channel will mute it for your ears.

We have just moved into a new auditorium in our Church in New Zealand. We have purchased the M32 console and 4x DP48s (first in Autralasia aparently!). Moving from the Behringer X32 with a bunch of P16s. Had our first misic practice last night and it's a steap learning curve! We don't have the hub. Apart from enabling connection of wireless tranmitters and PoE, what is the hub required for? Can you still still send Ultranet P16 channels and perform broadcast from console without one? Where can I find more advanced user info? All I can find on the Midas website is a Quick Start guide. There are a lot of things you've convered in this video that aren't convered in the documentation.

I agree, it's absolutely a steep learning curve! Frankly, I've been keeping our less technical band members on P16's and giving our more advance members the DP48's. The Hub primarily provides PoE and wireless IEM outs, but can also be used as an input module to connect and power AES50 breakout boxes (think: digital 8-channel sub-snakes) and also features "Stage Connect" which I think Midas will try to push more for the lower end of the market.

@ChurchTechTalks3 жыл бұрын
If I were going to be mixing IEMs for guest acts, I don’t think I’d use any personal monitor mixer, I’d likely mix their ears for them using busses. You could possibly get away with something more simple like the P16’s, I’ve had guests use those before and because they are exactly like Avioms, most artists feel comfortable on them. And yes, it’s a stereo 1/4” so buying a stereo 1/4” male to stereo 1/8” female extension will give your talent the headphone Jack they’ll need in the location they need. Good luck!

Hey, first of all I wanted to say I love your channel, it has been very helpful on my endeavors of setup. I have a question for you, I’m having difficulty routing my wireless mics that are plugged in Local on the M32 channels 19-23, and getting a signal to the DP48 Stage monitors… Have you experienced anything like this and if you have, how did you solve the routing to get that signal to the DP 48? Thanks
@ChurchTechTalks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks David! Glad to hear you’re liking the channel. How exactly do you have them plugged in?
@davidgilbert37233 жыл бұрын
@@ChurchTechTalks Hello Scott, I thought I sent a reply on your question but it looks like I missed the mark on that. Here is how I have it routed. Channels 1-18 are AES50-A. These are directly to the DL32 stage box. All of these channels get line levels into the dp48 monitors. Channels 19-24 are wireless mics and are plugged directly into the M32 at the FOH as local inputs. The M32 is update to the latest version of (4.04) The routing for channels 19-24 are under inputs as "User In "17-24". so I can assign individual channels without having to dedicate the whole group of 8 as local in. On the Patch menu, I tab all the way over to the "USER" tab and I have the these inputs, 19-24, assigned as Local in. The challenge I am experiencing is this, I cannot get a signal for the wireless mics that is at the FOH to register a line level into the DP48 stage monitors. I know I am missing something in the routing somewhere but I have not figured in out as of yet. My question to you is this: By chance do you run wireless mics from the FOH as being direct to the console as local inserts or do you insert directly into the DL32 with the wireless mic transmitters. If you do run wireless at the FOH to the dp48 stage monitors what is the routing you use to achieve this? Thank you for your wisdom on this and again for your channel...it is great!!
@ChurchTechTalks3 жыл бұрын
@@davidgilbert3723 how are you connecting the DP48’s? If they are connected to your AES50B of the DL32, then you need to change the patching of Routing > AES50A. I run a separate cat 5e line off the M32 directly to a Hub 4 (if you don’t have Hub 4, you can go straight to DP48’s) then you would route channels to them under Routing > AES50B. I like this setup, cause it gives me full control over sending whatever I want to them without effecting the ins/outs of my DL32.

Yes! They operate very similarly to the P16's in that regard, so you can simply daisy chain the units together. Each unit will need to use the included power adapters. You can run them either after your stage box on your AES50A run or run them on a dedicated line out of AES50B. Hey Scott! I'd love to hear what you've learned or maybe what you changed with your DP48 setup. I'm currently running an X32 FOH. AES50 A feeds a DL32 stage box and AES50 B feeds two HUB4's. I noticed that when I tried to go into a DP48 at FOH out of AES50B and use the thru to go to the Hub4's I would get random loss of connection to all DP48's on stage. The only way I could solve this was by removing the DP48 at FOH and going directly from AES50B to the Hub4's.
@ChurchTechTalks3 жыл бұрын
We had the exact set up you’re describing and we ended up moving away from having a DP48 at FOH as well. Not because of dropouts, but because it didn’t actually help the band mix as much as we thought it would. It’s no secret that these things are more complicated to mix on than the P16s, so we only give the DP48’s to musicians that we feel are capable of utilizing this tech and we give P16‘s to all the others.

These things look quite powerful. I just don't get the practicality of these vs an Aviom A32 system over Dante or other more basic monitoring systems...Especially if you're in a 2-3hr rehearsal window. The time it would take for musicians to dial these in properly and for the engineer explaining how to use them to the band doesn't seem worth the time. Especially if more tech issues arise such as equipment failure or input failure you may have to trouble shoot during rehearsal. What's the upside here for an every weekend church musician?

AJ Lebron I think the main upsides are far more features, 3X the inputs of a P16, and its native AES50. For those with X32/M32 consoles it’s a natural choice for a more advanced personal mixer than the P16’s. You can also run them alongside P16’s for less technical musicians. Plus they’re about half the cost of Aviom with no need to buy an expensive Dante card and take up the one card slot you have on your X32/M32. The channel count isn’t even comparable, the A320 is “32 channels” but really, it’s 16 stereo, so your mono acoustic technically takes up two channels, your mono vocal, two channels, your mono bass...well you get the idea. On top of all of that...Aviom stuff has always sounded like garbage to me. I have more experience with the A-16II’s, but I remember listening to the A320 when they announced it at NAMM and being thoroughly unimpressed.

Awesome video!! one feature I haven't seen covered in a video yet (sorry if I missed it somewhere) is the built in stereo ambient mic on the unit. Any info on that feature Scott? Thanks!

On the front of the unit, theres a button called "MIC" pressing this allows you to adjust volume of that mic in your ears. It's pretty straightforward, but we tend to use the shotgun audience mics for ambience audio in our mixes.

@@busyscott as I understand it that mic has been configured to work as a talkback mic in recent firmware update, but for the life of me I cant seem to figure out the routing to FOh. I am a drummer and would be really helpful to communicate with FOH this way. any help??
@busyscott3 жыл бұрын
@@ennis437 I believe the talkback comes back over channel 48, which means you could probably use some user routing to route AES50 A48 out of User 1-8, then set one of your local blocks to User 1-8, then on the back of your FOH console, you could hook up that physical out to a speaker. I haven't tried that exact scenario, but it should work!

This seems like a P16, but with just more onboard processing and less channels... You're still using a bus/group for the drums just like you would a P16. The only advantage I see is it feeds 2 people and you have "scribble strips" Negatives are no "balancing" within groups. So if you happen to need 2 guitars on one group your musicians can't balance between those two instruments within the group so it will need a separate group still.

Nice vid man, but I quit watching after 3 minutes of that annoying audioloop in the 'background'. Listening almost half an hour to a 7sec audioloop is too much. Sorry

Thanks for the feedback! Check out the newer vids. I ditched it. :)

That music is relentlessly repetitive. Just talk is really fine, thanks.
