However, I could have stopped one space early and attacked diagonally as I was doing a single attack in each case.

Very nice video, and very interesting game. I love Middara. At the beggining of the encounter, u did a 2 spaces jump with the cave sickles, enemies can only jump 1 space per jump (pg 66 rulebook). Amazing clip, anyway

Thanks Adam, really enjoying this playthrough. The figures are really detailed, can't wait to get this game and paint them. The fighting seems quite complex but fun, alot of of options and I think all the different dice make the fight more interesting.

Another question: Shouldn't the Status and Refresh phases be done at the beggining of each characters turn? Cause I saw you recovered Rook's stamina point and un-exhausted his items in Remi's turn...

I noticed you saw the error at 24:22 with the star, but could you have also exhausted the axe to add one more damage, bringing the total to 6 and killing it? Or could you not exhaust the axe for some reason?

I know this is an old video, but I'm sure other people are still using it like me. When you bring out the Cave Sickles, the first 3 you put out would have all belonged to the first card 1-3, and the last cave sickle would have been with its own 4-6. You always put out the lowest number first, not separate them based off where rhey cone out in the text. It doesn't make a big difference there, but it could cause confusion later Thanks for the video!

How about the couple movements when you left an adjacent space next to a Cave Sickle (47:12, 54:17) wouldn't they get a Break Attack (Page 44 rule book)? Thanks for the excellent playthrough looking forward to the next episodes.

amhennings Good catches here! I should have stopped and attacked on the diagonal to avoid Break Attacks as I was only attacking one enemy in each case. Consider this pinned. Thanks for watching! :)

On your 1st attack with Remi, you missed that the starburst gave you +1 DMG on her axe.

I love the audio for the narrative. Really adds to the game! It’s going to be done for the entire game. They’re working through it Chapter by Chapter. I believe the first two Chapters are done currently.

The cave mobs were hitting into difficult terrain so they should get -1 to their roles during that first round.

The game was only $100 on KS. I know people are probably selling it for that but they are going to reprint it soon. It'll be more expensive than $100 but hopefully not $300.

I can't find from the rulebook saying it rolls for each space a black die for cave sickle, "If a AI combatant would need to make a skill check, you roll a black die" meaning it is a single skill check to jump so wouldn't it be once or is it twice because the difficulty goes up, but then again I can't locate that rule it would roll for each space :D

I just spent like 2 months going over the boardgamegeek site and your channel an d a few others to make my top 100(which I had to make 5 drafts for to get to 100. My first draft had 575 games lol). If it's not on that list it wont even be an afterthought anymore. Cant have them all.

@@RollingSolo how i read the rules you could use the exhaust after the roll. since the card says 'while determining damage' so it would be the damage phase that you would decide to use the ability. i make this judgment based on a section of the rule book on page 49 that is talking about the Hammer Helm 'In addition, an Adventure can Exhaust the Discipline to re-roll any dice in their Combat Dice Pool...' which implies is being done after the roll. and really with the limited amount of * on the dice that is really the only way that ability would make sense. of course if you know you are only making that 1 attack it would make sense to always exhaust it because that does not cause the other abilities to be used. just that the exhaust ability can only be used once.

Is the rolling for initiative thing in the rulebook? All i could find was something mentioning shuffling the active group and any other figures involved in encounter and then dealing them out

This was played under version 1.0 rules and I don't have those but the rules for play in all modes is shuffle the initiative cards every round. In the Update v1.1 you no longer roll to place spawned combatants it is placed after the figure currently taking their turn or at end of track if story/ambiguous spawn, then shuffled in and placed out at start of next round.

At about 43:00 when the last cave sickle missed and occult shirt was then un-exhausted again, could a counter attack have been performed automatically or would you have to use a stamina point to counter?

Great question! In this case no stamina points would be spent to counter. As exhausting the card gave me the ability to counter. What causes makes the counter a moot point is that I only have a melee weapon. So it’s a counter with no end result. Edit: Realizing you were referring to the purple cave sickle, yes I could have countered in that instance. Hope that helps!

i think on 43:00 after the purple sickle missed the attack, you could have used the occult shirt to "Counter"(if the attack deals no damage unexhaust this card and counter) and since the purple cave sickle is adjacent you could have with your melee war axe weapon.

Cool first episode. What I will keep from it is: The board is gorgeous, the art is great, the minis are only passable, the combat is interesting although it could get tiring having to count symbols for every roll and checking so many cards cards to see how you can max the outcome. Remi's wings are annoying because they get in the way when she is surrounded by enemies and, I don't like that they touch the ground. If I were her I would hate to drag my feathers in the mud every time I take a step.

Rulebook says: "Movement Action: Move up to your maximum Movement Value. For each additional SP spent, add 2 to your Movement Value. Limited to 1 Move Action per turn." But at 17:38 you continued your movement, so you can do the basic movement, interrupted with other action and then continue by burning other stamina points, or you were able to do that only because of the totem interaction?

Hey GM! The totem activated and broke up my movement because the game rules state the moment I come into view of the totem I must activate it. Then you just continue onwards with what you were doing. Hope this helps! :)

I had the same thought- but it looks like your “movement action” can be your base movement plus any extra 2 space bumps… as long as it’s all tied together into the same action (no other actions in-between) if I understand correctly?
