I love how some people commenting didn't really completely pay attention to the cutscenes they just watched and call this game horrible due to its supposed lack of "following canon." Uh, guys, this is the period between the White Council banishing Sauron from Dol Goldur back to Mordor and the actual Lord of the Rings books. It's where Gondor is in sharp decline, poor ol' Aragorn is still ten years old in Rivendell, and the fight for the Lonely Mountain is over. Gollum is still off searching for the ring, and since he's loopy off the ring, fitting Celebrimbor, Talion, and Gollum in there works. Each "Sauron" (The Black Hand, The Tower, The Hammer) is some part of his spirit, which thanks to the White Council banishing him, is broken and not really whole. Killing each one systematically and then finally confronting the Black Hand thus makes sense. The Black Hand absorbing Celebrimbor? Not too weird, but it's not like Celebrimbor suddenly BECOMES SAURON. Celebrimbor just helps the process. As for the end... No, Talion is not BASICALLY BECOMING SAURON. Remember guys, he's a half-wraith: Basically mortal, but the lingering spirit inhabiting his body keeps reviving him. He and Celebrimbor only co-exist because of spirtual parallels and similar motivations. The new ring is implying THEY'RE GONNA MAKE A COUNTER-RING TO THE ONE RING. And the future? That's what Monolith is going to have to be delicate about. They could take it various ways, truth be told, but the way the company approaches it could make or break the rest of the series. Since, after all, Tolkien fans are pretty hardcore about canon. This is game is pretty much allowed to exist; it's filling plot holes. The next game they're gonna make after this one? Pray they know what the hell they're doing.

Way out of date here but, these games are great and aged well. I love their stories. But by no means is it anywhere close to canon. It fails with an elf wraith. Which if you know is completely impossible due to the nature of elves created by iluvitar. But again, just because it’s non canon doesn’t mean it’s bad. These were great

Having Celebrimbor be a major character is cool. Not only is he the one who made most of the Rings of power but he is also the Grandson of Feanor, who made the Silmarils and led the high Elves into exile in middle earth, his character is a link between the 1st age, the 2nd age and the 3rd age.

Lord Lord Really? DA: I was amazing in my book. DA2 was shit though. But you get the picture, a true RPG. Because some consider this game an RPG, or a sandbox like GTA. They're not. No I want a true RPG like DA or ME or whatever. Something like the Witcher would work wonders as well. But this game is too lineair for me. To me a true RPG has a good main story plus sandbox elements (with many side quests) and the story changes according to the choices you make. Some dilemma's like in the Witcher 3 are great as well, instead of obvious good/bad choices.

I loved this game. I remember after I got my branded warchiefs and left Nurnen, the uruk captain/warchief that I fought (azdush the amputator in this video) got unceremoniously killed. I was grabbing him by the collar and was about to execute him when one of my warchiefs who had a crossbow, blew him away with an explosive/fire crossbow bolt to the side of the head while in the middle of talking. Last two boss battles were a little lackluster though the rest of the game made up for it.

I am a Tolkien nerd. I know everything there is to know, and I have read everything Tolkien has written that is available. And you know what? I loved this game. It has inconsistencies, yes, but they are minor. I hope they make a sequel to this game, as it was fantastic, and hopefully the next game will have even more of the lore that we love. And, please, stop being assholes about it. Tolkien is, sadly, dead. He lived a full, happy life, and he provided us with, in my opinion, the greatest fictional stories of all-time. But now that he is dead, Middle-Earth still grows. I for one am glad of that, and I would like to think Tolkien would be, too. This world started off as just his, but now it belongs to all those who have traveled Middle-Earth. I would love them to continue making new things set in Middle-Earth, and I would love it even more if the Tolkiens wrote some more.

I really do love modern day LOTR, because here everyone is more pro-free will. In the books, and often in the movies, evil was seen as a spirit that eventually everyone succumed to. Gandalf himself was scared of the influence of the ring, Frodo sucummed to it, Isieldur sucummed to it. Throin and Thror were seen as victims of a "sickness" that lay upon the treasure. Spiders, Trolls, Dragons, Orcs and goblins are seen as free-will-less evil creatures. Here however, there's a man who is being groomed by sauron to be evil, who manages to resist his influence, a good orc, and in the sequel to this even shelob's good.

Its complete BS how Ratbag gets killed off. I was more attached to him than Talion wife and son because at least I was there to at least know him. it could have been handled better instead of just getting swatted away and killed. like right when he says "that he was still alive" the cutscene would have slowed down as Ratbag slightly turns and looks right at Talion right as the mace kills him. at that moment, you as the player just lost an ally and a friend. now you have a reason to kill him. but no. instead you had to find out that he was dead as you pull up the suarons army info seeing that hes dead now. .....BS

final boss wasnt even a boss really :( it was a bit of a let down. Rest of the game was awesome though.

Well it was a let down cause he wasn't at ful power if we get anything else like other dlcs I hope to face sauron that'll be cool

TheHoly Dominion Dude, it was a let down because it wasn't a Boss to begin with. Just a crappy QTE. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the game, but that last part really dissapointed me.
