A scattered people, the descendants of storied sea kings of the ancient West, struggle to survive in a lonely wilderness as a dark force relentlessly bends its will toward their destruction. Yet amidst these valiant, desperate people, hope remains. A royal house endures unbroken from father to son.
This 70 minute original drama is set in the time before the War of the Ring and tells the story of the Dúnedain, the Rangers of the North, before the return of the King. Inspired by only a couple of paragraphs written by Tolkien in the appendices of the Lord of the Rings we follow Arathorn and Gilraen, the parents of Aragorn, from their first meeting through a turbulent time in their people's history.

Also, having a producer that lets investors have a say in how a film is made will often lay it to ruin, corrupting it from the inside with terrible demands that go against the director's vision of the adaptation of the original script. What ruins movies is funding by the wrong hand, not by the funding itself.

For such a small-budget production - wow! I wish "professional" films had such good scripts. All the lines were truly in Tolkien's style, and delivered in a natural, believable way. Christopher Dane as Arathorn was excellent, and I mean truly excellent and perfectly suited to the role. The other stand-out performance to me was Kate Madison (whose character gives the script so much more human dimensions as well). A number of other good performances as well, and lots of lovingly crafted details from the world of Middle Earth. Overall - well done and thank you to everyone who took part in this production!

Wow, amazing. You can really feel the love that went into this. Arathorn’s casting was perfection and he bears a striking resemblance to Viggo’s Aragorn which ties this into PJ’s films beautifully. Loved seeing Elladan and Elrohir - the Elven portrayal was spot on - Amazon should watch this and take notes.

@@Cody-5501 This whole movie cost £25,000 ($30k). A single episode of the Amazon extravaganza if you average it out is $89.4 MILLION. Not only is the Rings of Power not 3,500 times better than Born of Hope....this fan movie is much better- better written, better actors, better story, than Rings of Power so far. I wonder what Kate Madison would have achieved with just $1 million. Judging by the quality of her short fantasy series Ren, The Girl with the Mark, something amazing.

I love stories like these. Especially so for I am a 10-year Army combat veteran. 5 of those years in the French Foreign Legion, 2 years in French Guyana and 3 years in Corsica in the 2 REP and two combat tours in Africa. In war there is no place for vicarious wishes, every action is committed by the man or woman in that moment, in real life. Stories like these allow safety to those who watch and give hope to all our men and women regardless if they are military or not. I hope more movies like these are made.Maybe our children will learn empathy instead of the ways of war.

Respect! A film made entirely out of pure love and dedication, with no other goal in mind, but to pay tribute to the genius of J.R.R. Tolkien! This is not a masterpiece of film production - this is a precious gem straight from the heart. And therin lays its true value.

37:27 This small scene struck me deeply, right in my Tolkien-loving heart. I can easily imagine how in almost 90 years later these two would strike at the gates of Pelargir together, conquering their enemies, capturing the fleet back into the hands of Gondor. And in the end, Halbarad, the loyal servant of his beloved King and friend Argorn, whom he knew since childhood, would stick the Standard of the King on the shores of Anduin, repeating the very same words he uttered so many years ago, when they were both just kids. Back then, it all seemed to be but a play, neither of them expecting the things that would come to pass. And as the Two Ragers of the North look upon themselves in joy, the freed people of Gondor utter a loud cry in response to King's standard-bearer's announcement. In this very moment, the doubt and fear leaves Aragorn's heart, realising he truly IS a King of Dunedain, and not even hundred thousand of orcs could stop him now. The Gondorian Fleet, with a song of battle on their mouth, sets sail to Minas Tirith, where they would meet their enemy and bring death to them until the sun sets on the coasts of their Kingdom. I know it's just a fantasy, but that's how imagine the things have happened between these two. It also makes me extremely sad that Halbarad did not live to see Aragorn's ascention to the Throne. All of these thougths came to me, just from this five-second scene. Thank you for including it in the film, the authors are clearly passionate about Tolkien universe!

Peter Jackson is a buffoon and his movies has been nothing less then pure butchery of Tolkien's great literature works. I'm sure Tolkien would never give Peter Jackson the rights to do a movie of his work. Jackson's only luck is the great scenery in his movies and special effects. The Hobbit movies are pure crap and really a offense to people who love Tolkien's works. We are trying to get Christopher Tolkien to not let Peter Jackson even attempt to do the Silmarillion and make a mockery of that work! This show has more respect for Tolkien's work than Peter Jackson. Most people who love Peter Jackson's versions of Lord Of The Rings, and Hobbit have never read Tolkien's books. I'm 58 and my Grandfather use to read The Lord Of The Rings to me and other great literature work's at a young age. This got me to reading on my own. If you have read Tolkien's books then you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't then please read them and be truly entertained and enlightened. Tolkien was a great linguist and invented the many languages of Middle Earth. He was also a good artist and done many drawings and paintings of Middle Earth. I'm not trolling but standing up for a great Man and his very valuable contribution to society!

Holy crap, guys, this is a fan-made film! Stop criticizing it like you're actual movie critics and this is ab internationally released film. It has limited budget, so they probably couldn't hire the best actors, writers, and had limited props and equipment. Simply appreciate that these LotR fans went as far as to give you another movie, worthy of being an unnoficial prequel to Peter Jackson's films. Even heavily-budgeted movies flop on the big screen yet receive good critique. This deserves praise more than anything, really.

As a thirty-year Tolkien reader (and my Dad read it to me before that) I can only applaud this beautifully created back story. The low budget doesn't diminish even a fraction from the movie, I loved the loyalty to the Tolkien universe. I'm one of those annoying book freaks who found Peter Jackson's LOTR very well done but with discrepancies and extra bits that were infuriating. And just loathed the Hobbit movie(s!!) for being so over the top and drawn out. Born of Hope is exactly as I can imagine Middle Earth. Very well done!! Thank you!

Movies. What is the difference between born of hope and rings of power PERPLEXITY AI Born of Hope and Rings of Power are both related to J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, but they are different in several ways:Born of Hope: • It is a 2009 British fantasy adventure fan film directed by Kate Madison and written by Paula DiSante • It is based on the appendices of J.R.R. Tolkien's 1954-55 novel The Lord of the Rings • The film centers on the communities affected by Sauron's war and the Dúnedain bloodline • It features more than "one or two women," which is unusual among fan films Rings of Power: • It is a TV series produced by Amazon Prime Video • It is based on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit • It takes place long before Frodo Baggins made his legendary trek to Mount Doom • The setting is the biggest difference between Rings of Power and the Lord of the Rings films by Peter Jackson • The series has an advantage because it is telling a story set in a never-before-seen iteration of Middle-earth • The show-runners have built as many practical sets as possible and driven its production budget to sky-scraping heights, all in the hopes of matching the technical achievements of the Tolkien adaptations before • The Rings of Power made some significant changes from the source material, including the addition of new characters and storylines In summary, Born of Hope is a fan film based on The Lord of the Rings appendices, while Rings of Power is a TV series based on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, set long before the events of the original trilogy. The Rings of Power has a bigger budget and has made significant changes from the source material, while Born of Hope is a fan-made film that centers on the Dúnedain bloodline.

Well that was just astoundingly good. suspension of disbelief was almost immediate and you can tell everyone in the cast and crew earned their acting chops long ago. That they got support from WETA Studios on the orcs and Roman Rausch to help with Rohirrim and Sindarin just adds to the professional look and feel. The music is close to Howard Shore's LOTR soundtrack without copying. Lighting for night scenes could be better, but the Hobbit had "dim" moments too. However, script and the actor's and crew's love of the project make it all work. We now know how Aragorn came to be raised by the elves and why he took the name "Strider"

I learned tonight that this existed and immediately came to view this made for internet film. My initial interest was in Elladan and Elrohir, for I am a huge fan of the elves. However, I found this an example of a Labor of Love and an homage to J.R.R. Tolkien by devoted fans. It is well made, well acted, and received by me with immense gratitude. For every loving depiction, true to Tolkien's lore adds to our enjoyment. I Thank everyone who played any part in the making of this Film. I recommend it highly and without reservation. I Hope to see similar works come forth in the future, perhaps some focusing more on Glorfindel, Elrond, Elladan, and Elrohir, oops, and of course Arwen.

I remember going with a friend to meet the makers of this while it was in production. She was hoping to lend them some weapons as props. It never came to pass but I followed the making of it religiously for a while, and then it was lost to the mists of time. So glad it was finished.

I loved this, so much. You can sit here and nitpick all day, but I think it was brilliant, and completely captured the spirit of Tolkien's works. I love that this was made by and for the fans of Tolkien's works in a way that the New Line films could never be. The New Line films are brilliant and I loved them, but I think the humble budget and feel of this film just captures the spirit of Tolkien beautifully

I absolutely love these little films. For the money spent they easily outdo a lot of so called "blockbuster" movies ! Why ? Simply because the people making them are doing it from love of their craft. Nobody is getting rich here - especially NOT the numerous volunteers. Our daughter was an extra in G.O.T. and spent 3 days on location shooting a scene that was so short you hardly saw her ! It cost 1000's of pounds just for that 3 or 4 mins of filming ! And she was paid too ! Along with all the other "Extras" ! So given how good these films are, EVERYONE involved needs huge high praise ! Nobody could cast aspersions on any aspect of these mini-marvels without showing themselves up as mealy-mouthed, heads-up-their-asses ballbags ! Nuff Said ! Please keep on entertaining us as well as you all do O:-)

Just when I thought there wouldn't be another movie following up to LOTR and The Hobbit series, there was. So much emotions I had while watching this omg. So this is how Aragorn came to be?Amazing.*cries* I love how in the LOTR series he has the same hairstyle as his father and acts just like him too.

Well, I know I'm pretty late to the party. I mean, 2009... you were making this kind of stuff when I was a Sophomore in college. I can't speak for all these people in the comments, but as someone who actually went to film school myself, I'm very impressed. You chose some quality locations, had some legit CGI, and really made this as authentic as possible. On the budget you had, that's a huge achievement. Thanks for putting in the effort. This was worth an hour of my time, most definitely... and I can't say that after every movie I've ever seen.

I was surprisingly hooked after the first 10 minutes. It's really pretty inspiring how a few dedicated people with a meager budget can make an engaging and entertaining film. Though, at the end of the day it's all about storytelling isn't it? A cohesive story and honest acting can create a solid film even when lacking the effects and polish that a bigger budget can supply. (_Hear that, Hollywood?_)

Connor Landrum Wikipedia: In 2007, for example, the average cost to produce a major studio movie was around $65 million. But the production costs don't cover distribution and marketing, which was another $35 million or so, on average, in 2007, bringing the total cost to produce and market a major movie right at $100 million. Just wanted to give you a frame of reference. Even "low budget" films cost around 2 million. MOVIES BE 'SPENSIVE.
@ConnorLandrum
@ConnorLandrum 10 жыл бұрын
Cosmic Rogue incorrect distributing cost around 5 - 10 million on average, and 65 million is the average lower side of movies, but the purge was made for only 3 million, but rating the film can cost from $2,000 to $50,000,000 so yea, shit aint cheep but the price all depends on your demands and what you use.
