I fear that citizens do not have an understanding just how awful war is. We've removed ourselves so far from the line that it's pathetic. Not many folks realize how lucky we are to be geographically located on the other side of the world. Far away from the troubles of Europe. Could not possibly say what the IDF is doing is right or any better then what Jews had to suffer during WW2. you should consider yourself among the biased :) if your measure of someone else’s objectivity is whether or not his views match yours, you don’t seek objectivity. if your measure of objectivity is a “golden middle” between two viewpoints you deem biased, you probably seek objectivity, but by means that will never give you any :) middlegtound being always true is a fallacy. therefore, you don’t really seek objectivity. your goal is either confirmation bias you refuse to admit, or arrogant oversimplification which is probably a result of neoMarxist ideological brainwash you also seek to confirm :) therefore, in bith cases what you are seeking isn’t objectivity, but some form of confirmation bias :)

@@paulsimonmccarthy9209 No, or, maybe now that I think more about it. At the end of the day, most complex issues are more subjective than objective anyway. We all have our own personal experiences that contribute to our understanding of things. If I witness what to me seems to be an atrocity, I have many personal experiences, beliefs and biases built up over the years that would make me view that act as an atrocity. You, on the other hand, grew up with a completely different set of circumstances and see the event as justice. Who is there to appeal to for clarity? At that point, we have to seek our highest ideals, if we haven't already, and conform our actions to those ideals. To me, the universal concept of love trumps all else. What is the outcome that has the potential to produce harmony between all parties? Love will temper all biases if we will let it.

It's not clear if 1400 non combatants did die in this " terrible massacre " ? The majority may have been combatants including women soldiers of the IDF. Some non combatants were caught in the cross fire. 40 babies were not beheaded. That was shown to be a blatant lie. How many more lies and exaggerations have been involved in the Israeli version of events ? Even if it could be truthfully be described as a massacre on October 7 what is indisputable is the Genocide that Israel is now carrying out in Gaza. 7000 to 8000 deaths of innocent civilians so far and rising. Half of them children. How could that be justified ?

This is the first time I've listed to both men. I found it very interesting and the comments made helped me round out the deep dive into the history of this area. I' try not to take sides for the situation before October 7 as I think both groups have made significant mistakes. But what Hamas did on October 7 was totally unacceptable. It's clear than many of the Gazans who made it into Israel and the kibbutz, music festival and the military bases were a combination of top tier to 3rd tier Gazans fighters but I think many would have taken the addictive, amphetamine-type stimulant drug Captagon that Syria produces and distributes with ease in the region. This drug would have made it much easier to act like mad men and horrific forms of killing would have been easier.

Mister Katz is right that the internal social and political upheaval in Israel prior to October 6th was certainly one of the factors that encouraged Iran and its proxy, Hamas, to attack when they did. A deeply divided Israeli population on the verge of civil war made the country incredibly vulnerable to the kinds of attacks the world saw three weeks ago. It forces us to examine whether Israel's dream of security, peace, and prosperity can continue to flourish when it is so profoundly conflicted by a death struggle between evenly divided philosoohical visions for its future. It becomes an existential question of whether Israel can survive ideological collapse from within while coherently organizing its security apparatus sufficiently to defeat its external enemies from destroying it from without. I personally side with Netanyahu, Likud's coalition, and their slim majority of constituents on the right in this struggle against the secular socialists on the Left. The hopes and dreams of the Jewish people hang in the balance.

Take note people of the US where he says the Israelis were essentially at war with each other politically which was going in a very bad direction and how this lack of focus and direction and in fighting opened them up to attack when they were weak. Look at where the US is right now how divisive things are right now. Americans are fighting Americans. We are fighting politically we are fighting about what is a damn woman, we are fighting such minimally important things and we are opening ourselves up to disaster. Don't think the other powers that be like china are now watching and happy to see the weakness in America at this time.

The proportionality argument is absurd but the analogy with Dresden isn’t the best. The destruction of Dresden didn’t play any significant role in ending the war and the British public has been very divided over it ever since. A far better analogy would be with Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which though terrible did end the war in a way far better than would have been the case otherwise.

This comment isn't intended to be incendiary however I'm surprised that I've not heard any references to Israel's oldest and most reliable historical reference covering their conflicts for millennium. Even if only from a historical perspective it has proven to be correct throughout human history especially concerning the geographical areas in question. This is not a religious zealot comment, it's factual. However I realize that the political left abhors this point of view, even to their own demise.

There are already like a million Arabs and Muslims in Israel as citizens with rights, privileges and political representation there. They dropped the radicalism and live well in Israel. The Palestinians have been given this chance but refuse to do so. And any Arab country that took them in also suffered destabilizing and now they refuse them. They are losing.

I'd appreciate someone answering for me the following. 1) Why was Dresden a city of civilians chosen for such destruction by the British in WW II? Where is a good write up that talks about the British/Allies thinking it would stun the Germans into realizing it was time to end the war. 2) I wish Carr or Katz had talked about how much the use of the Captagon, the addictive, amphetamine-type stimulant made by Syrians and easily distributed throughout the Middle East, had on Hamas and general Gazans supporters /looters to do so much slaughtering. 3) I realize there is corruption or at least the ability to make money as an elected Israeli cabinet member, but why aren't Gazans outraged at the amount of money their leaders manage to make? e.g. Yasser Arafat, the Abou Abbass and family, and the senior Hamas leaders? 4) Plus the senior Hamas leaders live very deluxe comfortable safe lives in Qatar giving orders to the Hamas leaders in Gaza. I guess the hatred of so many Jewish Israelis surpasses the money that is supposed to go to the Palestinians to improve their lives is accepted.

I have concerns about the accuracy of your guest's statements regarding Israeli military tactics in hostage rescue operations. One point of contention is the 'Hannibal Directive,' a controversial protocol of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), known for its aggressive approach to prevent soldier capture, potentially at great risk... It's plausible that this directive played a role in the incident on Oct. 7th... Additionally, the possibility of 'friendly fire must be considered.' It's important to note that narratives from the Israeli government have been debunked, thus untrustworthy...

I can’t see any offer or negotiation that would convince the people to stop supporting Hamas. It’s a deep belief they have about destroying israel, no negotiation or deal can change that. If you destroy Hamas the young boys will grow up and become the next terrorists. These children that have had their fathers killed by Israel will want revenge. This is a sad generational conflict.

George Bush talked about preffering to work with people who told him good news. Seems like the some thing similar happened in Israel. Supporting the narrative became more important than looking at the actual Intel and drawing sensible conclussions from that.

@@erikrungemadsen2081 and to everyone above who replied, these answers make a lot of sense. I will be looking for more answers to this after this war is over. I taught at the university-level for 35 years in a setting designed for bringing the best out of young women from every background. They were generally stupendous students, once they had everything they needed, including the confidence of those who believed in them. So I’m grieving what happened to this subset of victims, especially. Thank you for listening. 🇺🇸🙏🇮🇱

The Palestinian issue is a just issue historically, humanitarianly and legally. Every people has the right to live freely on their land. They reviewed the United Nations resolutions on the issue. They listened to the opinion of a person known for his fairness and justice and not taking sides. Refer to the old maps. What was the name of this region before 1900? Was it Israel or Palestine? I do not justify any inhumane act. But you must know the motives for everything. Listen to what the Secretary-General of the United Nations said about the Hamas attack, that it did not come out of nowhere and that there was occupation and persecution. I hope you will investigate for yourselves. The issue did not start on October 7th. It began in the year 1917, when Britain was occupying the land of Palestine. There is a quarrel between two people. It is fair to listen to each party fairly and look for the credibility of each party and not judge it merely based on our previous backgrounds or what is published in the media. I used Google Translate to talk to you. Maybe there are errors. Thank you for understanding what I wrote.

If Israel allows more citizens to keep firearms in their homes, I hope that, unlike in the US, such firearm ownership comes with a mandate to keep it at all times in a gun safe. (Plus, make sure the gun safe isn't one that the KZbinr, "The Lockpicking Lawyer" didn't feature on his channel.) Gun safes can be purchased that can be opened in the dark in seconds, bolted to the floor. Otherwise, Israel will just be arming their enemies (and criminals) whose primary source of firearms and ammo is robbing people's homes: at least that is the case in the US.......

Unfortunately Gazans like other Middle Eastern countries have had very large families since 1948, yet both the Israeli and Gazan leaders didn't see what would be a result - putting far more Gazans into a small physical box. Before the Arab Spring Egypt was having success in getting the population to have fewer children. After the Arab Spring the birth rate is again rising. Syrian refugees in Canada came with lots of kids and many low skilled/educated parents; this hasn't stopped them from continuing to have more children than the Canadian average. Our apartments aren't built for these larger families. They all got houses to live in thanks to the generosity of their sponsors.

Kind of, because the vast majority who were muslim or christian were basically forced into little ghettos like Gaza or the West Bank cities and denied citizenship. The reason this happens is because the muslims outnumber the jewish people, therefore they are not allowed to vote despite the area they live being policed by the Israelis and all utilities and building permits strictly enforced by Israelis. However, not all jews are Israeli, therefore they are not synonymous at all. Its conflated intentionally to make comparisons to the holocaust to shield them from criticism

It is my understanding that the Judges at the Israeli Supreme Court had all but complete control of who was chosen to replace them. That court was constituted by extremely left thinking Justices that perpetuated an extremely left trajectory for Israel. The Knesset was continually being overturned by that liberal court notwithstanding that conservatives held majority. While this is an oversimplification the fact remains that since Israel has no written constitution the Supreme Court has no foundational governance nor citizen restraint. The fifteen members of the Court not the Knesset in essence makes the law.

How is it ok to say 'the world will be better place when palestinians cherish their children the same way israeli's do?' for an 'expert' its an extremely ignorant and dehumanizing comment to make. Have we not seen the grief of the parents who lost their babies in Gaza? its unfortunate the conversation is always is about Israel winning. rather than looking at the nuances of how Israel is continuining to move towards a far right stance where somehow they believe they are special enough have only jewish state where no other ethnicities can exist. this is clear just from the ministers in their parliament and their comments. Israel's existence as a occupying state is exactly the reason why antisemitism is so prevalant around the world. and this is coming from anti zionist jews. Acts of the IDF is just like how they behaved in 1948 and the world is fine with it.

Any group or people willing to throw human life away for ideology are doomed to fail as no one, even on their side, will ever work with them.
