Thanks for the test. Quite smart to use the fan as a control.

Thank you so much this is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to see if other units had that subtle high pitch cricket/chirping noise when the compressor is on. Yours sounds exactly like mine so I guess its normal.
@dlbalzotti6 ай бұрын
I'm not complaining by the way its still much quieter than my last portable air conditioner which had the typical BAGAAAAANG when the compressor kicks on. This one just sounds like distant crickets on a cool summer night. :)

Nice little test. I have the Midea AC and I know you demoed the sound as best you could but the unit actually becomes quiet as it reaches the temperature you set it at like 70° both fan motors slow down and the compressor so it really becomes unobtrusive.
@robroberts20642 жыл бұрын
Hi petermaz, I agree it can get quieter. In fact, I think this is a very quiet AC for how powerful it is. The little fan I put next to it is louder than the Midea.

Can you make a video on the duo AC and also as yours the model with the heat pump?
@petermaz701 Жыл бұрын
@@vectorcollector4893 thanks for asking but I no longer have the AC. I purchased a split unit and had it installed.
@robroberts2064 Жыл бұрын
@@vectorcollector4893 I can do so, but not in summer. In general it sounds identical to when its in cooling mode, and it pumps out a lot of heat. We live in 1000 square feet, and if we had two of these we would not need to use our natural gas furnace.

Hi ! So do you find the Midea is decently quiet for a portable AC?
@robroberts20642 жыл бұрын
Yes I do. It turns on and off the compressor (they call it an inverter) smoothly instead of clunking on like every other AC I've used. I'm a light sleeper and I can sleep with it in the room no problem.
@Superpaashaas Жыл бұрын
I can confirm it is decently quiet. 👍🏻

I just bought one of the air conditioners. When I switch it on to cooling mode it makes a load-ticking noise for about 15 minutes. Then goes away. It seems to increase if I increase fan speed. This doesn't seem to be normal. Can you let me know if you have experienced it? I have contacted the online shop I have bought it from and they are waiting to hear from the distributor.
@robroberts20642 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric, I haven't experienced any odd sounds from our Midea. Our weather is mild, so we've only used it about 30 days so far: 20 days * 8 hours a day in cooling mode, and 10 days * 8 hours in heating mode. I expect we'll use it a lot this winter, as it is a great heater + dehumidifier. If I were you and I wanted to get input from other Midea owners I would post a video like this. Take your time, record from an angle (don't place your phone directly in the wind from the fan), and if you want to record a 20 minute video with the AC just running while you're doing something else, do it. KZbin has no time-limit. That way you'd be able to hear when the "load-ticking" sound stops after about 15 minutes.

@@robroberts2064 Hi Robert thank you for taking the time to reply. I have taken a few videos. I sent it to the store i bought it from. If need be ill take a longer video for youtube. The loud ticking sound starts as soon as the unit is switched on and goes away after 15 minutes. Its a bit annoying means i wont be able to schedule it to go on at night or early in the morning as it will definitely wake me up. Does yours have a heating function? I doubt i will need that but out it intrest mine only has a cooling, dry and fan function. Just phoned the supplier they will be replacing my unit this week. Thank you for confirming that sound is not normal. Have a great day.

@@robroberts2064 Just wanted to let you know I got my replacement today. The first unit I got was definitely faulty. The replacement unit is super quiet, will definitely be able to use it while I sleep. Also, makes super cold. Thanks again for your help and for confirming the noise was not normal and thank you for making this video.

@@Superpaashaas Glad you got a replacement that's quiet. Does it have heat? If you don't have a heat mode then we don't have the same unit. Ours is the "Midea Duo" which is a bi-directional heat pump. Retailed between $599-$699 in the summer of 2021 in the USA. I just for the "Filter" light on, which means we've used ours for 250 hours. The filter was a snap to clean, I took it off and use a vacuum cleaner with brush attachment.

@@Superpaashaas Hi Erick, I was wondering about the faulty unit you got. I just received my unit yesterday and I am having that same high pitched cicada-like sound that is coming from what seems like the pump or a condenser fan. I definitely can't have it on if I want to go to sleep. My unit was unfortunately also beat up in shipping, as the swaying vent doesn't work and isn't seated correctly. Does your new unit make that noise whatsoever or is it completely quiet after startup?

I haven't measured the output, but it's practically freezing. You'd be uncomfortable, possibly hypothermic, if you were forced to stand right in front of it without a shirt for an extended time.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/noLLeYuao9l0kM0 so odd, why would anyone copy someone else’s video as there own. Will see if others of this exact video are around. I did like half of the video. I’m only curious on how a portable ac sounds. All i want to hear is the rushing air. No squeaks, rattles, or knocking sounds. Not to keen on comparing to one of the loudest small fans there are. Good sound showing will be sound on low when its in cooling mode, compared to how it sounds on low when the desired temp is reached. Most valuable info to me. Good all around video though .

@@jimjr9143 Hey there, THANK YOU for sending me the video link. I sent it to KZbin and they immediately took it down. After a little research it seems that the person who copied my video was using it to try to make some money off affiliate-links they had to the Midea unit in the description of their version of the video. Kinda make me wonder if @Kreemerz is working with (or is) that other account.
