I just installed this machine and today it is 34 Celsius with 41 humidity. THis machine cooled large one bedroom apartment in no time. I couldnt believe how Midea perfected it on speed 1 you can barely hear it. How long this is going to last I dont know but at 41 degrees in half an hour my apartment is nice and cool. It performs as good as any window air conditioner quite impressed. I always wanted dual hose AC but didnt want 2 hoses so Midea made it one split hose which is dual hose. So far this is the AC i always needed. Easy to install

@@mixetube1116I'm just reading this mounts after you've posted. It's great that dual hose inverter portable air con are available now single ones should not have been made or allowed because you can't pump air out of a building without replacing it plus it's much more efficient with fresh air flowing over the condenser (hot side) coil as well. I haven't seen one of these new units however my guess is the condensed water is sprinkled over the hot heat exchanger so that it evaporates and then combines with exit air flow and travels out the hot exhaust pipe

I'm glad to see more dual hose units on the market as they are much more efficient. I honestly wouldn't mind having those hoses separated - uglier but more robust and flexible.

Me too and seperating the 2 hoses they can be quite a bit thinner, because this Midea 2 in 1 hose is just too big for lots of windows. I would not be able to use it for any of my upstair rooms bcs of it. And now it likely will suck in some of the very hot and humid exhaust air again, bcs the hoses are so close. Plus the hose wasn't insulated, which is like having a heater on in your room.

You can buy a 6 inch, 45 deg metal duct elbow at HomeDepot and pound down some of the coupling neck down ripples so end of elbow fits over 6" plastic exhaust port attachment. This helps efficiency by directing hot condenser exhaust air away from external coaxial hose intake port air.

The exhaust hose on this unit also pulls out separately if you don't have the main hose fully extended as it's the same length as the main hose. It's held down with plastic clips to the main hose body. You can angle it away from the fresh air intake section this way without needing to add any extra adapters.

I appreciate you mentioning the clips in this, as someone who has to take it out constantly these clips are a real pain to deal with and I wish they would have put a more effort into the setup. I appreciate them adding the adapter but my old one just slid into place and used the hoses weight to hold it in whereas if the hose on this one pulls on the clips too much they tend to snap back out of place. It is very finicky and I might have to find another solution before my clips start snapping off as many others have. Aside from that it works great.

@9:37 - it's a DC compressor therefore it uses half the power of an AC one to get same cooling power/capacity. They are found in higher end models costing $200-$300 more. Worth the extra cost if the AC is in use for 3 or more months per year ( electricity cost savings ).

I have a 14,000 BTU version and it cools the entire 2nd and 3rd floor lofts of my house. Works very well but it recently started leaking and I can't tell what the issue is, the drains all appear unobstructed. I even stuck something in there and there is no debris clogging them. I only ever use cooling mode but it leaks tons of water. I finally got a tub to set it in, but I'm afraid of electrical problems if it's sitting in an inch of water. Edit - Finally found out that it's the "Dry Mode" drain that has been leaking. Which makes no sense since I only use cooling mode and cooling mode is supposed to drain out of the bottom drain. I don't really understand the problem but now I have it draining into a bucket and the unit still cools very well which is what really matters. Very annoying problem though.

I’m in south Louisiana and looking for something to help with the heat and not bring my electric bill up to $600. Also a good way to keep the house cool should a hurricane knock the power out. I’ve only seen window units and they are an eyesore (it would not be a problem if I had to, but if I can avoid it, even better!) But I would love to hear if this is a good option for what I am searching for? I maintain the central air, but the heat and the amount of windows are not in my favor. I don’t care about noise, I have 4 kids and don’t mind hearing white noise over “mommmn, so and so won’t get out of the bathroom”

My entire home is only 2,000 square feet. My kitchen and living space are where my common sense of “nature light is awesome” failed me and the sun is coming in from about 4pm till night. I exaggerated my electric bill, but it is still pretty high ($290) but it’s not even summer yet. I also live in a flood zone, so my home had to be elevated to unsightly heights and I fear that a window unit would be too big of a hazard. I am 5 feet 2 inches tall and can walk under my home and only need to slightly bend. I have blackout shades in each window and it helps, but the central air is not shutting off during the day and it is on average 75 (in the evening) degrees inside and we keep it set on 70.

Selling mine. If you have HUMIDITY, just DON'T Bad: 1) Stupid hose placement. Didn't want to drill thru my house so I used a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket I had to empty 6-7 times a day. (Clear hose it comes with gets loose & will flood your floor. Check it OFTEN.) 2) Bulky. Actually... it's massive and ugly as all get out. 3) So many cracks for outside air & the sticky tape is also ugly. 4) Wasn't all that great on my electric bill. Good: 1) The 10,000 BTU cooled my entire 630 sq. ft cabin. 2) Easy to install. I just bought the Midea 12,000 btu inverter U-shaped window unit. Quieter, inverter, space saver, no bucket. WIN! I have a few issues with these portable A/C units. One of the major issues with them is.... When you set the desired temperature, say 71*F, and the room reaches that temperature, the compressor stops. This is great, except, they dump a whole lot of humidity (10-20%) into the room before the compressor kicks back on. So far, all the units I have purchased in the past, have done this. Does this Midea do this? (I'm asking if either the 12000 or 14000 BTU units do this) please test if possible) What they should do, is reverse the air out the exhaust, when the compressor has turned off. I'm not sure if window units do this (increase the humidity after the compressor has stopped)!
@rmiller28
@rmiller28 4 ай бұрын
this one doesn't really turn off unless you get a few degrees below, it just kinda slows down and keeps running, that's the benefit of the inverter type, i haven't noticed any extra humidity..

You can set it to continuous run by pressing down on the fan speed button for 3 seconds. The fan will stay running so it eliminates temperature spotting and for sleeping it has a nice white noise.

is there a lot of leeway to move the vent tubes left or right?
@ENMOOZ
@ENMOOZ 4 ай бұрын
The vent tubes themselves are generally designed to be positioned in a specific way to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. For more precise adjustments, you might consider using additional accessories or extensions that can help direct the airflow more effectively. It’s always a good idea to refer to the user manual or contact Midea customer support for specific guidance on installation and adjustments.

Why do you make a video about a product and not one time? Do you mention anything about a water tank or something like that. That seems to be a major point of the product. How long does it take to fill? Can you leave it running and not be home. These are questions that people would have if they knew it existed. It doesn’t even mention anything about it on the sales paperwork.

@@aaronstestlab So far so good, but there are some simple things they could have done to make things better. The unit feels high quality but it seems like there was 0 left in the budget once they got to how the hose connects to the window. I also picked up a Hisense 8k BTU because it was on sale and the way its dual hoses slide into the window panel is much easier. I swear the c-sense worked great the first few days, but now it will cool to 2 or 3 degrees below the remote temp, which is annoying. But overall it's quiet, cold and efficient. I'd give it a 4/5 right now.

I was just about to purchase that model but had to hop on a road trip for a day, got home, went to order it and it was out of stock now 😭 It's odd the model isn't on their site and mentions some "mshield" technology that their site has no mention of, but I guess it has an ionizer built into that model. I have the duo heat and cooling version and wanted to grab the Costco version (without heating) as it seemed to have the same BTU, although a bit hard to verify given I couldn't find the exact specs on their site. Had some mixed inputs given the different BTU ratings. As far as I could tell the Costco model was a special version for them at about a 25% discount, which was a steal of a deal at $450 vs I believe $600 which likely doesn't have the "mshield" which I was interested in. Someone at Costco recently said they were swapping from summer to fall already, so I imagine they were pushing the last of their stock unfortunately :( I guess I'll continue with my old AC in the other room, I'm bummed I missed it. Then again summer might be cooling down in the next 2-4 weeks anyways. I've also heard that Midea warranty and support can be horrible, so I figured if the latest batch of units were janky (the one I got a year or two ago has been fantastic), that Costco has a fantasy return policy that would help negate any nightmares there.

The timer sucks, I really don't get why you can just set one time, whereas I want to have a timer I can let it turn on every hour or every 2 hours for example. My Mizushi has this feature, but doesn't have a remote and it is a split unit. Oje of tue best portable split A/C out there. But for a small room where I have my pc I have single hose portable A/C which sucks. But this Midea is too big and the hose too bulky. They should have used 2 hoses instead and insulate them, so you can have a gap between them. Now it sucks in part of the very hot and humid air from tue exhaust.

think this 12000 BTU is enough to cool a 2 bedroom house, or just a room?
@ENMOOZ
@ENMOOZ 4 ай бұрын
The Midea 12,000 BTU air conditioner is designed to cool spaces up to 550 square feet. This makes it suitable for cooling a large room or a small apartment, but it might not be sufficient to cool an entire two-bedroom house effectively, especially if the rooms are spread out. For a two-bedroom house, you might need multiple units or a central air conditioning system to ensure even cooling throughout the space.
@aaronstestlab
@aaronstestlab 4 ай бұрын
Hard to say. It does a really good job, even on spaces larger than it’s rated for. However, with walls and doors in the way, I would think cooling would be extremely uneven.
