Midgham Level Crossing

Sunday November 13 2011 at 9.55 am. The 9.42 Reading to Bedwyn (10.23) train heads through Midgham station (on the right) without stopping. Almost 2 minutes of the wait was cut out. The village you see is Woolhampton as Midgham station is not in Midgham.

The next crossing west of Ufton Nervet automatic half barrier where a man lost his life stopping on the track in 2004, - more or less a suicide I don't know if the coroner said so. Anyway as a tv reporter then said "this is the next crossing down the line" but then also "it's unmanned but with a full barrier" (This crossing then had 2 big barriers). UK full barrier crossings aren't unmanned. Many, like this are remote controlled + CCTV, the Ufton Nervet accident wouldn't have happened at Midgham

Ufton Nervet was an AHB (Automatic Half Barrier) crossing, which IS unmanned. It also has no safety measures to ensure it is clear before allowing a train to pass except for the driver's eyesight at the last second.

Yes that's what my description says.

@@SteveDD1 I have very happy memories of Woolhampton L/C. When I was young, we'd park in the station car park and watch the trains. And when we'd pass the road with it on, I'd glance down and see if the barriers were up or down.
