If you capture great track ideas on the Teenage Engineering EP-133 KO2, and you also have a Modular #Eurorack rig that you'd love to get into the action, Here's one way you can do it: using the Univer Inter MIDI to CV converter from @NoiseEngineering !
In this video I describe how to set up both the sending side from the @teenageengineering #ep133 and the receiving side on the Univer Inter Midi interface module.
Official and awesome Univer Inter tutorial from Noise Engineering is here: • Univer Inter chainable...
The Univer Inter is one of many midi-to-CV converter modules that you can use - but some of the information I present here should help you at a high level no matter what devices you use on either side of this equation. Using standalone gear with Modular Eurorack Gear means converting from Midi to CV/Gat and other signals that Eurorack can understand. But it also means using the massive power you have on your modular rack to make your tracks SING!
Note about Modular Patching:
- Output 6 that I have set to “RUN” on Univer Inter is patched to the “Run” input at the top of ALM Pamela’s New Workout clock module on my modular rig. That’s what makes the Pams clock start and stop with the Play button on the KO II.
- Output 8 that is set to “Clock” on Univer Inter is patched to the Clock input on Pam’s. Then I set the clock on Pam’s menus to accept that input.
The last chapter of this video is a few minutes of Jamming where I highlight each voice on the Modular Synth which is being driven by MIDI from the EP-133 just to give a flavor of the added creativity you have at your fingertips once you engage the modules in your rack!
I've recently taken some simple tracks and patterns from my K.O.II and turned them into monster displays of complexity and madness on my Eurorack using sick oscillator voices instead of the samples available on the #koii and using the powerhouse effects modules on my #modularsynth rather than the very limited effects on the #ep133 .
The Univer Inter from Noise Engineering gives me tons of flexibility to decide how I want to conver midi messages into CV controls to pass along to my whole Modular Synthesizer rack of modules.
