Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate everyones enthusiasm for my apps. Thankfully I have made a lot of great friends while developing these apps, and it wouldn't be possible without their help (shout out to David for all the work on my manuals). We already have a lot of great ideas for the first update which I think will set this apart from the rest of the pack.

Hi Paul - this is a great sequencer. Great for jamming. From my first experience I do have one feature request: Please do not hide disabled steps. I suggest the same “ghost note” behaviour of tied notes. In my own jams I often “prepare” disabled notes before enabling them. And the same would be good for sequences that are shorter than 16 steps. Please don’t hide the unused steps. Thanks a lot!

Hey Paul, another highly useful release. Thank you for all your contributions to the iOS space. Wondering if you are supposed to be able to use multiple CC modulations at once. Right now in both AUM and ApeMatrix I can only use 1 CC modulation at a time. If I switch to edit a second modulation it stops outputing the unselected modulations. Not sure if this is intended or not.
@PaultheMusicMan2 ай бұрын
Strange, I will check this out as it should allow 8 simultanious modulation lanes. Perhaps we overlooked this in testing but if it is not working this will be a priority fix in the first release.

@@PaultheMusicMan I posted this in the AB forum as well. Was an issue for at least one other person. Another person found that presets using more than one modulation were fine. I personally hadn’t looked deeper to verify. I may have got sidetracked playing with the sequencer :)

Hi Paul, Are you testing your new apps with Logic Pro for iPad? Also have you reworked all the great apps you created before LP was introduced for iOS? So far the only two that seem to be working with LP are Strummer FX and Harmonic Exciter. TIA
@PaultheMusicMan2 ай бұрын
I've been using MidiStep inside of Logic Pro and confirm it is working fine. I know I had issues with my last app MeloVox in LP but this is down to an actual bug in LP which attempts to load it as a mono effect and fails. Still waiting for their developers to fix this issue! There isn't an issue with this app and I've been testing it periodically. Other than that my newer apps (since LP) should work fine. If not let me know as I'm not a big LP user.

I was able to load MidiStep as an AUv3 on my MacBook Pro M3, but I don't know if this is intended. It works with one exception: the random dice do not function or change steps. Is there a workaround for this, or is MidiStep AUv3 not intended for M3? I am trying to use it in Logic Pro. Thanks for any help!
@PaultheMusicMan20 күн бұрын
It was really intended to be used on iOS, but I guess it should also work on the Mac too. You need to watch all the videos to understand how the randomize patterns work. Some lanes are not setup to perform randomization by default so please work through the videos as all is explained.

Does Midistep have an arp mode? In an arp mode the available step notes are determined by the incoming chord rather than by the scale.
@PaultheMusicMan2 ай бұрын
Yes, watch my MidiStep Preview video. Or checkout The Sound Test Room's video on MidiStep as Doug does demonstrate it.
@SoundtempleMusic2 ай бұрын
@@PaultheMusicMan ok, I watched. Note on mode is close, but what I was looking for was the ability to use the red note sequence sliders to select a note of the chord (or current notes on). You can do this with StepPolyArp and vst's like ChordPotion. Especially useful when you make music that is non-diatonic. It allows for creative freedom with arp types instead of being limited to the usual up, down, up/down etc. Impressive feature set nonetheless... :-)
@PaultheMusicMan2 ай бұрын
@@SoundtempleMusic Note On mode using In Poly Transform allows the notes of a chord to trigger the sequence. So if you have a complex sequence and just play one note you get the pattern within the editor. Having a simple pattern sequence with spaced notes allows polyphonic input with gate type effects. It is quite powerful and in this mode the ARP complexity is down to what you add to your patterns, and transformed by your key presses.
@SoundtempleMusic2 ай бұрын
@@PaultheMusicMan Thanks for taking the time to explain. Just to clarify my understanding is correct… Note on mode requires note to trigger sequence. Mono transform transposes the sequence depending on the note held and constrains notes to selected key. Poly transform plays all notes of chord on each step and red steps seem to transpose the chord with all notes locked to scale. Arp modes are just 3 basic arp modes that can be modified with things like octave control and arp note re-pitch using red steps. ie In video at 25.:00 random notes can be added and can transpose the arp notes which are then constrained to the scale. In a nutshell, I was hoping to have the scale dynamically set to the held notes of the incoming chord. Then I would just program (custom arp modes) with transpose off.
@PaultheMusicMan2 ай бұрын
@@SoundtempleMusic Poly Mode is what you need IF you want to use notes of the incoming chords. By setting all the notes in the pattern to root notes and specifying certain columns on and off, you can follow the chords precisely creating a rhythmic pattern, then add occasional deviations from that using octave of 7th notes etc.

What's the difference between "chance" and "probability?"
