I come back to this all the time. These guys made amazing music. What more can you ask for other than a label who supports, pays and takes care of the band? Oh wait, I forgot... labels suck!!! Midlake fused everything I love about music and made it their own. I hope they realize they touched a lot of people w their music.

The highlight of this performance for me is the early version of "Children of the Ground" -- such a badass song.

Saw Midlake in 2010 on the Park Stage at Glastonbury. Nobody filmed it. Such a shame as it was one of the best sets I've seen there in 20 years of attending. Thanks to whoever filmed this and for sharing. Hopefully Tim will release something new some day.

I love that they started with We Gathered in Spring, probably my favourite song of theirs, although it's a shame because Tim's voice didn't properly "warm up" until about 3 songs in.

I was there! Life changing, the venue was playing underwater whales and fish documentary on a few t.v's. it was the end of a long Noisepop and first day off recording shows and the first getting hammered on beers and this blew me away!

Verse 1] There were too many years under spells awry As the fortune appears, it begins to die So I've come here to wait for the end of it all Till I'm gone from here I'm gone from here [Verse 2] Children of the grounds are making warring sounds For those outside with no care for time They're full of love for life [Pre-Chorus] Mother calling out To bring the end around We weren't quite done She blames it on the sun [Chorus] We're raised in a town where they jump on your back and sing Leave an imprint on your shoulder blade Wanna walk away We're not all the same in this town We're raised in a town where they jump on your back like children And they need you now, they need you now And we're all undone in this town And we're all undone in this town [Verse 1] There were too many years under spells awry As the fortune appears, it begins to die So I've come here to wait for the end of it all Till I'm gone from here I'm gone from here [Outro] Gone We're

Dj13e36 you should take a look at their live at Jools Hooland. its outstanding.
@Dj13e369 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I've heard it. To be honest, I was never very happy with Courage of Others and they performed Children of the Ground as it was on that record when on Jools. I suspect they wanted to distance themselves from the sound of Trials and I think the record suffered as a result. To be honest, I didn't think Children was a very good song until hearing it here with the piano. It almost sounded like it could've been on Trials when performed that way.
@wolfgang46279 жыл бұрын
+Dj13e36 IMHO, the Courage of Others tend to people who devoted to classic rock, you know like Zeppelin things ... but if you think Children of the Ground is not originally good song. Aww I dont think so .. for me its a super great song, and I believe this is the next level of Roscoe, and if the song is born at 70's it will be a legend. Anyway is the current lyric is different with the album 0_o
@joepari45566 жыл бұрын
wolf gang completely agree. Children of the ground is superb here and on the album. I actually loved the courage of others. One of those albums where there are no filler tracks.

I really love the music video for the song "The Old and the young" The guy lived in a camper, depressed, alone and just plainly not living his life. Wasting away. But then the kids came along. We all thought that they were those typical teens that are assholes but no. I was shocked when they gave him music. Something that can make the guy feel a little more alive. That moment when his neutral face changed into a smile was amazing. Something that i can relate you. This world is a lonely place, we all try to find an outlet. Drugs, Hobbies, and music. I love this song and i love this band.

Love that somebody has captured a full gig of the band at their Van Occupanther height, just a shame that Tim Smith’s vocals are inconsistent in parts here, I don’t recall him being anything other than absolutely bang on live, including a back to back double header at The Musician in Leicester when the promoter sold the venue out twice over on the same night. A lovely group of beautiful people who created a masterful piece of perfection
