Midland 48+ Multi UK CE MultiNorm CB Radio (mobile) - repair & service

Today's repair has come in with no TX audio & very poor receive. Service had to be both to the AM & FM side of this radio just to sure the snags were rectified. The end result was very good RX indeed.

A mix of old and new, though I wish it had more of the old in it. Only thing it has in its favour as far as I am concerned is it has a proper working meter on RX & TX be it a horrible LCD barograph display. Why can't they make them so they can put out 4 watts like we are entitled to? Surely that is not to much to ask!

Dissapointed it struggles to do full legal power and deviation. Its not asking a lot is it. I look forward to the on the air test results hopefully it can redeem itself

You'll be lucky to get many legal sets to do a full 4 watts. It was over deviating and he had to turn it down, so it is doing it fine. It was over modulating as well, when they are doing this a set can sound terrible, worse than it being set low. However, the detector was well out, so it must have sounded crap on receive!

Have a problem with recive ,it does not read any skip but i can hear all stations...one of the cristals looks rusty...??

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 it could be but its digital...now that you mention i can hook up an external s meter on the back???and the thing is its all or nothing on the meter...receive is oke...thanks for reply!!!

all that faff for a new mic, almost snapping a ceramic screwdriver, and yes they snap easy you've still not rewired the antenna plug that's bared and showing outer braid..!! as for the radio, apart from dry joints they're pretty junk now days..

We've no intention of rewiring the plug until it fails
