As someone who grew up on classic golden era country in the 60's and 70's, I am always extremely hesitant to try out new country artists since most are trash today. I could immediately recognize the masterful songwriting and harmonies of Midland when I first heard them. They are one of the driving forces behind a very small group of great "new" country music artists. Its hard to get tired of any song Midland has made since they flow just so well. I just hope they never change their sound and keep writing great traditional country songs. Please mainstream country producers stay away from this great band.

As a young black man in Texas, I was scared to go to a saloon because I thought I would look weird. Until one day, one of my army buddies dragged me to a saloon in the stockyards of Fort worth. They started playing this song and everyone on the dance floor started pairing up. I was then approached by this young lady who dragged me onto the dance floor and we started dancing. From then on, I really started appreciating country music.

The day someone sent me this song, my life was never the same. I quickly grew an appreciation for country music that I never had. Growing up as a Mexican-American in the south, I develop animosity to all things southern, including country music. This song really helped me appreciate the south and realize that it is a part of me, just like Mexican culture. I learned that a lot of country western culture is heavily influenced by Mexican vaquero culture. Wearing cowboy boots, and hats has been a long tradition in my family, but I just always separated that from the south. But now I understand that country people, whether in the U.S. or Mexico have a lot in common. I’m proud to be a Mexican in the south!

Every day I'm not working, I drink. When I get off from work, I drink. I've spent enough money on beer to buy a destroyer, and drank enough of it to float one. How I'm still here today is a miracle, and my time in the Navy is probably the reason. It's literally in our anthem, drink to the foam, and I certainly have. It's not a crutch, it's a way of life.
