Midlands Air Festival | RED ARROWS | Hot Air Balloons | Night Glow | Geoff Moore Photography

My first air show / festival of 2021 and it didn't disappoint. The Midlands Air Festival showcased some amazing aircraft and displays of mass ascending hot air balloons.
The RAF Arrows were the stars of the show with many people coming out to watch. For me however the mass accent of Hot Air Balloons, of all sizes shapes and colours was the highlight for me.
With perfect weather and really relaxed family atmosphere it was a pleasure to slow down and take a moment to enjoy something a little different from my normal photography and KZbin adventures, sitting around watching the event unfold.
The Air show wasn't just about the day, both spectacles were followed by the infamous night glow where the hot air balloon pilots fired their gas burners illuminating their balloons up against the twilight of the night in unison to the sound of music filling the night air with fun and awe.
The show was brought to a close a fantastic fireworks display which I wanted to capture both on film and produce images of, alas silly me I forgot to bring spare batteries doh! so only managed to Capture the daylight part of the Air show.
The Midlands Air Festival at Ragley Hall, Park & Gardens is only 20 mins drive from my home and this made for a perfect opportunity for an enjoyable day/night out and for a spot of no pressure photography. The sun was shining and the mood was light.
I took with me my canon 7d Mark 2 with a Canon 400m 5.6 Prime lens, both of which don't get much of an outing after having switched to Pentax some time back, but proved more than ideal for the types of imagery I wanted to capture. The photography subjects ranged from RC model aircraft, to the RAF Red Arrows, to the Hot Air Balloons lifting off in glorious British summer sunshine. Pulling loop the loops (the RAF Red Arrows that is) and Hot Air Balloons drifting across the quintessential British countryside.

Thank you for making and sharing this video, I really enjoyed it and all of your stills were just great. It looked like a really enjoyable day out, something we all need right now. Take extra batteries and cards next time of course, even without you made a fine job of capturing the atmosphere of the event.

Thank you Kevin. Originally I hadn't planned to do any video, but at the last minute chucked the camera in the day sack and off I went. The show was far better than I had anticipated and so got shooting. Should have paced myself. Lesson learnt.

Well done Geoff, didn't even know there was an event there, if there's one this year give us a nod. All good images but my favourite balloon shot was the partial image of G-CLKC at 7:04 into the vid. Bye the way our favourite pub is just up the road from the main gates at Ragley, The Fish at Wixford, great food.
