Midnight Club 2 - Kenichi #20

Kenichi is our last opponent before we face the champion of Tokyo. He has an extremely good car which we will use to beat Makoto. One of the few opponents to have three races and one of them is unique. His first and second race are quite easy while his last is going to trouble you for a while.

Race 1 - [0:18]
The most important thing is this race is to properly handle your car which Knight can do just fine. Other than that, pay attention to the small details highlighted in the video and I believe it will not be a race to remember for it's difficulty.

Race 2 - [2:39]
Quite a unique level which also give us the luxury to drive the Tokyo's Cop car which is a rocket! All you have to do in this race is to destroy the racing vehicles which luckily can be done by simply touching them. Start with a burnout to face the opposite way and you will appear in front of them to damage as many cars as possible. For the rest of the race just chase them until you are done.

Race 2 - [4:15]
Now this is a hard race and can keep you busy for a while. It's a long road full of traffic with a rainy weather. It's hard to avoid mistakes but don't worry since your opponents tend to crush to. Needless to say, the less mistakes you do the easier the race will be just keep in mind not to let them be very much ahead of you.
There is a theory that when they drive away from you, there is no traffic in their way, so most likely they will simply disappear from the map and you will never reach them. Apart from that, try to take the lead from the beginning. When they are in front you and they crush you can never expect what vehicles will come towards you ruining your acceleration. For that reason make sure to start with SST, stick to the bars on the left of the road, take the lead and try to keep it.
Be careful with your nitrous usage. Since it's a rainy road full of traffic the extra speed will make it harder to control the car leading to a crush. Either use your nitrous on a safe area or when you crushed to get back on speed without losing much time.
Unfortunately there are no shortcuts here so you have to rely on your driving skills.
Keep in mind:
• Take the lead
• Don't make unnecessary nitrous usage.
• Stick to the right or left side of the road to avoid traffic.
• Use a car with good handling

So I couldn’t help but notice that your acceleration is way higher than the Knight is capable 0:00-0:47. Even going faster than 249 mph, which is the maximum speed possible in midnight club 2 🤨.

@@jaylogik4020 If you are constantly steering left and right the car accelerates faster probably more than it's capable of. In that part I obviously had no intention of doing that I just couldn't control the vehicle which at the same time made this trick happen. Check on KZbin "Midnight 2 Speedrun" and see how the guy races like a drunk man.

@@tsiripas naw bro. I played this game for over 20 years. Unless you have some type of cheat that allows you to have ridiculous acceleration the Knight CANNOT get up to speed that fast. At the beginning of the race your car goes past 216 mph without nitrous. The only 2 cars that can do that is the Tokyo police car and the rocket car. And right after the 0:47 mark, I can clearly see your speed go past 249 mph. The rocket car can’t even go past 249 and its the fastest car in the game. You’re clearly using cheats my dude.

@@tsiripas I wasn’t trying to find evidence. I just happened to see as I was watching the video. Maybe the pc version is different from the ps2 version. I know for a fact that everything mentioned in my previous comments applies to the ps2 version for sure. I just assumed that all versions would be the same for such an old game. The Knight’s top speed on the ps2 version is 180 something so when I seen your car going 253 mph without nitrous, I figured it had to be a cheat code.

My speculation is that he would have also used the SLF-400 (he's yakuza, after all, so it'd make sense for him to have some flashy exotic) at one point, but the idea got scrapped early on (since the SLF-400's model is seems to originate from earlier development)

If you slip stream in time, or nos, you could go straight after the first light and turning at the second turn, it leads to a straighter line when getting the second light

An alternate to your alternate is taking the entrance when you first hit the light before the finish

On the cop race i better recommend just playing catch up since youre so much faster, and just tap their sides. A few tries will help remember the path they take

The final race i find easiest with a motorcycle. Go as fast as comfortably possible and avoid traffic. The rest is easy especially with the motorcycle ability to slice traffic. Avoiding traffic just takes reflex that is built throughout the game
