Another way im learning to take this is: so many people get complacent, they live a routine, they live life waiting for a break, a miracle, a fantasy dream to come true. I'm stuck in the same rut. But reality isn't going to do that. We get what we make in this life. It's harsh but true for most.

I found your channel from H3 and have enjoyed a bunch of your content, I was so excited to find this! My Dad passed away a week before lockdown (unrelated to COVID, he had a stroke in recovery from heart surgery). A month later, the Midnight Gospel saved me from myself. I'm an only child and the last remaining member of my family now at 32. Every single episode found a way to worm its way into a heart that didn't want to accept the world was going to keep turning without the people I love on it. It helped me to accept the gift of grief. Being able to appreciate every moment no matter how mundane, and to be grateful for the time that I get with the people I love. It taught me to be a lot less hard on myself. You've encapsulated my sentiments about this piece of work so precisely. Fantastic job as always, and thanks to anybody who read this far.

ah thanks for watching and sharing your story. my mom was diagnosed with cancer a month after the midnight gospel came out and she passed away like 9 months later. that last episode hurts a lot. its a really beautiful show and I hope netflix will let it free for someone else to pick it up. I hope you find fulfillment to make your life happy and meaningful
@pierogiwizard42767 ай бұрын
@@tallskeleton The last episode gets me every time no matter how many times I've seen it. Losing a parent is a completely different kind of deep, lifelong grief. Watching somebody you love lose their battle with cancer or something I hope I never see again. I also hope Netflix gets their dirty little paws out of it. You can tell it was made with a lot of passion and care, and it would be a shame to see that potential (and jobs for animators) fall by the wayside.

The eternity we spent prior to when we were born combined with the eternity we will spend after we die is equal in existential importance to the brief blink-of-an-eye amount of time we will spend alive on this earth. However you may choose to interpret that, I just wanted to give context to how precious of a gift each day we spend living our lives is.

@@tallskeleton KZbin keeps suggesting all these video essays on the Midnight Gospel. They pump me up to watch the Midnight Gospel. I watch an episode and think "Other than those one or two points this episode kind of dull." Then I stop watching until another video essay persuades me to give it another try. I think I have went through this cycle 5 times. I think that the Midnight Gospel is ultimately a conversation piece. It value is not in what it inspires directly, but in the conversations in inspires.

Way to start out not knowing what you are talking about. So you watched the final episode twice right? How do you jot know it wasn’t 20 minutes long? That was literally the only extended episode the show had and the other episodes were even over 20 minutes.

Im not sure what you mean since I said that the final episode was extracted from a 2 hour + podcast with his mom, and also said that the other episodes were also adapted from other longform podcasts.
