Asked about storms, I’m in Fla, (grew up here,) and that’s exactly what you do during a hurricane or bad storm-put up shutters or whatever you have to protect the windows and wait. *The film Key West (old Bogart movie,) and an there’s an episode of X-Files where they get caught in a hurricane, those are pretty good representations of what it’s like. During my first hurricane, Hurricane Andrew, I learned to play chess with my dad and half-brother. *Thankfully, we’re on the west coast of Fla. and so by the time it got across the state the storm had been weakened to a normal, bad storm level.

For us here in Jamaica, if the wind isn't hurricane force or major storm force winds and it hasn't knocked out the electricity; then we just relax and watch some TV or read. Whatever you want to do really. But if the wind is bad and you live in a flood prone area, then no sleeping that night. You stay awake to make sure everything is okay. Depends on the type of storm. Tropical storms come through Texas all the time here, from the Gulf. And sometimes they turn into a category 1 hurricane. Honestly if it’s just a cat 1 that barely turned into a hurricane, no one cares. The ports shut down for the day buts that’s about it. If it’s been a cat 1 for a while and bordering on 2 it could be a problem. The problem in my area is less the wind, but sometimes we get a big storm that’s slow moving and just dumps and dumps rain so it floods. And despite that our reservoirs are never full so we’re still considered in a drought.
@AnlaGaming3 жыл бұрын
Storms that are really strong, I just double check to see if a tropical storm and/or hurricane was expected. Live on the Florida coast. Don't really watch the local news enough to know. If it's a tropical storm or less, I'm just like - eh, okay - then go on like normal. It's pretty normal to just keep doing what you're doing. It's kinda funny when people who aren't used to that kind of weather start to freak tf out. Like honey, it's just some lightening, thunder & water, it's not gonna really hurt you or anything. It's like people up north who grew up with having snow storms & such. Just really used to it.

Not going to lie, I didn't even know this show was out on Netflix until I saw this video pop up in my recommended feed. Watched it last night, ended up sacrificing sleep to binge the whole thing it was so good. This isn't a spoiler or anything, but when you go back to edit, I recommend pausing anytime there's a jump scare that you can't see clearly. You still can't see whatever it is clearly when you pause it (or at least, I couldn't on my laptop. Might be different if you have a large screen, so take this with a grain of salt), but it does give you the time to see that there is in fact something there causing the characters to jump and they aren't just jumping at nothing/random noises. It's not the same at all, but it kinda reminds me of the ghosts in the background of so many scenes in Hill House. ONLY in first episode you will see... or at least hear her voice: Carla Giougino (I think thats the name), who played the old gardner on Bly Manor and the Mom (Olivia) on Hill House, she is the judge who condens the drunk guy to jail. Also, from Hill House, the mother of the girl on whelled chair had played on Hill House on Luke's episode, she was the manager of the clinic Luke "escape" to find his friend. And yeahhhh, two more, the woman who is always talking about church, the "girl", blondie.. she is looking for Moonsegnor, who should come in the boat, but hadnt... She was Steven wife on hill House (the one who wanted to have babies and he didnt want). Also, The Daddy (young version) on Hill House and Uncle Henry on Bly Manor, he is the daddy of the guy who crashed the car.... with beard and really fat, almost we cant recognize him. For last, of course, the sherriff, he is the cooker on Bly Manor. And theres also one actress from Bly Manor, she was the.... Floras mother, uncle Henry Affair, but she isnt on firsts episodes (and I wont say no more). Too bad for me, no roles for Luke/Nell (or Dany/Peter Quint on bly manor) here, I LOVE those two actors! About storms, if its normal to get lights out, oh yeah lol. Im suspect to say, I live in a city that if the dog pees on the electric post, we get lights out, but wind, high speed windy, and trees closes to eletric grid, and heavy rain, and such... its normal here, to get lightinings on electric grid (and super charge it, what will blow a power transformer and cut power everywhere) or a tree fall on eletric grid, cutting the lines. THOUGH this because we have the eletric wires on posts and not underground. I live on São Paulo city, Brazil, thats what we have here, underground grids are better and more safe.

I just noticed that Carla Gugino (Hill House Olivia) is the voice of the judge at the beggining of the episode!

The judge's voice near the beginning was 100% Carla Gugino, the mother from Hill house.

We don't all retreat to the storm cellar where we keep our potatoes in the midwest during a storm. 😝🤣😂

Oh, It seems neither of you saw what Warren glimpsed in the bushes at the upwards, you just heard the twig. I mean, the moment Nikki didn't jump it was clear she missed it. ^_^

Love them suck of this form the little moments with original score, so mysterious, So unnatural sounds fit the narrative. And the classic songs they play when see we the island for the first time.

YES! I was hoping that you guys would react to this! I just rolled credits on the show an hour ago!

In Houston you have these storms. You prepare and go into a closet when it's time. Other than that you just keep it in the back of your mind

I'm hoping you 2 see this - I have become a huge Mike Flanagan fan since watching Midnight Mass while stuck in the house over Christmas due to my partner being ill. I have since watched his other 2 shows and stumbled on a movie he did called Hush. If you haven't watched it yet, I'd suggest it for sure. Super on edge film and great cinematography acting. 🥰

I'm curious, had you heard about the "haunting" shows prior? Was mass the first you came across or just something that caught your attention?
@rayOsunshyne172 жыл бұрын
@@stevenightfall6634 I had seen the haunting shows displayed on Netflix. But Midnight Mass is the first I watched and what pulled me in. In all honestly, the song they used on the trailer being this calm song but about a "horror" show is what got me I think. Then I quickly watched the other two. 🙂 Mass sat with me in such a different way than anything else I had seen in a long time. Not to sound cliche, but it was this beautiful, sad story that still left you hopeful somehow.

Florida girl here, yes we just sit back and chill. Reading is good as long as you have light. I've played plenty of card games with the kiddos during hurricanes. You can pretty much count on the power going out so we put flashlights in every room and put away the electronics. As long as you don't hear that tell tale sound of a tornado, we just chill.

Yeah it's pretty normal. You get a bad storm, you lose power. I've lived all over the world and all over the U.S., and it is something that happens often.

This show could pass for a Hill House season. Brilliantly told, brilliantly acted and superbly filmed by a writer/director at the top of his game. Can't wait to watch on.

So this has my attention. I actually passed on this initially but since the amazing Nikki & Steven started watching and reacting, I had to join the popular kids!! As much as I want to jump ahead I'll wait until you have W&R to check it out. Catch you with Ep 2
