Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another Midnight Oil song with "The Dead Heart." I've got to say they are quickly becoming my favorite band. The arrangement on this is sick!! A great pop/rock tune from the 80s, and I'm completely floored! See how good this thing is on all levels!

Another vote for “Forgotten Years” next from Midnight Oil. An 80’s tribute to the very last remaining veterans/wartime survivors of WWI. Now we’re currently in the same position with our WWII vets and those old enough to remember it. We’ve got to record their stories, before they’re all gone.

This song sent a very strong message about the mistreatment of Indigenous Australians - the traditional owners of the land and the Stolen Generation. Great song. Great band.

They have been my favorite Aussie band since the 80s. They are starting their final tour and I'll be watching them again in June. If this is becoming your favorite band, I'd recommend seeing them live before they're gone. There are so many amazing songs in their catalogue. One of my faves is "Truganini".

Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Midnight Oil. This song "The Dead Heart" was originally released in August 1986 in their country but unfortunately didn't cross borders! It's thanks to their success "Beds Are Burning" and will be reissued 2 years later on the album "Diesel And Dust" and acts as a "follow up" to their great success. It will be ranked no.19 in TOP 50 in France at the end of December 1988. The track denounces the ill-treatment inflicted on the aboriginal tribes in particular the refusal of the Australian parliament to recognize their culture and their identity. Midnight Oil was also the first rock band to perform (for free) in Aboriginal villages. If you want to know another Australian group very POPULAR, I recommend you INXS! They also have some hits and the very "synthpop-wave" song is "Original Sin" in 1984! You'll like it and you gonna throw your bananas🍌🍌🍌 thru the window!😁😅 Even if I like Midnight Oil, I still prefer INXS compared to their more "synthpop-wave" and rock music too. M/V link : kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoW4faSwp811jaM (Official Music Video) You also have "Need You Tonight" (1987) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/rV7Vp2V4hsZlhbc (Official Music Video) Thanks for your amazing job our American crony. 👍🇫🇷
