"You will go see this 10 times, and notice shit that you didn't fucking notice the first time" I can confirm this, to the letter. I've long since lost count of how many times I've seen this movie, but it's somewhere in the upper 20s (no YOU have a problem), and I swear to god, with EVERY SINGLE VIEWING, I pick up on some little detail I didn't notice before.

It's an absolute must-see for people who like movies. I don't hesitate to call it this generation's RoboCop; it elevated gratuitous cinematic violence and car chases to an art form.

What I loved was how even in a movie as shouty and explodey as this there were so many wordless scenes where everything played out through either shot framing or body language. For example, when the women are heading out across the salt flats on their bikes and Max is standing there between the bike they loaded up for him and the tanker truck. Oh, look, it's a visual representation of the choice he has to make. Not terribly subtle, but beyond most action movies. The other part I loved is when Nux tells Hottie McRedhead (Capable) to jump into Joe's car so he can wedge the throttle on the tanker open and follow after. There's none of that "No, I'm staying with you!" bullshit. Just a half second of hesitance and a resigned look that says "I know what you're actually doing, fucker, and I'd kick you in the balls if I weren't busy right now." Brilliant fucking movie.

I think it's interesting that Brian mentioned Circ du Solie (no idea if thats spelt right at all) because the Pole Cats (the guys on the big pendulum sticks) are actually Circ du Solie acrobats. George Miller brought them onto this project specifically to be the Pole Cats

The blue-and-orange palette of this movie bugged me a little, but unlike (say) the Transformers movies, it seemed to serve an actual purpose. First, it threw other colors (the green of the Citadel, the white of the wives' clothes) into sharper relief, and drew the audience's attention to those things without having to belabor their importance in the dialogue. Second, the orange of the desert, the various fires, and most of the characters' faces (except Nux) emphasized how humanity had regressed and was on the verge of collapsing and reuniting with nature (and not in a nice poetic way).

Only saw it in 2D, but I still liked it. I think the only people who wont like it are these who just dislike movie violence, people not used to the somewhat of old school pacing, and these who heared it had some feminist overtones and thus hate it on pricipal already, before actually seeing it. Oh yes and like said in this review, it's nothing for people who hate sand.
@dizzydoom42309 жыл бұрын
+Kaefer1973 Even for old school pacing, this movie felt paced VERY nicely. Like, I do see the similarity between this one's pacing and the original movies. It was nice.

I think the Marvel color pallet is a little more limited just because they're mot trying to make it difficult to believe that everything's in the same world when you jump from one movie to another, especially when Thor and Iron Man need to be in the same movie when one could be metal and industrial and the other a glowing god with perpetually blowing crimson cape. It's interesting that Spider-man Homecoming's seems to be adjacent enough that it can do whatever it damn well places.

@Andrew-w3r5l8 жыл бұрын
i was expecting them to slate this movie, can't believe they liked it. characters were poor with almost no back story and the plot was totally vacuous, i got bored of the action after about half way through, it felt about an hour too long. not a patch on the first two...

+MrPineappleHero It's the best movie I have ever seen. Beautiful rich world, great character motivations, best cinematography you'll see, and great actors
@Andrew-w3r5l8 жыл бұрын
Moonawrathic what was beautiful about the world, it was an empty desert, it wasn't supposed to be beautiful so i think you missed the point there. what character motivations, the character back stories were almost non existent, no reason to care about any of the characters. mad max starts off not giving a shit about the girls, he's happy to drive off and leave them behind to get slaughtered, 1 day later and suddenly he's prepared to sacrifice himself just to save him, what the heck changed in such a short space of time? the characters grow bonds and relationships with each other in the space of about 1 day, very difficult to take that seriously, and how the hell did those handful of people in a lone truck take out that army of bad guys, it was one truck versus about 50...
