For those who don't know, they guy they're talking about is Eddie Redmayne, who played Balem, that one villian in the movie and for some reason won the academy award for best actor the same year, and possibly the same month this movie came out. He is definitely worth watching this movie for, because listening to him in this movie is like watching Palpatine trying to do a Vito Corleone impression.

I was absolutely stunned when I looked it up and found out that there isn't a Young Adult Novel this is based on. Everything about it screamed of that kind of story, from the story, the mood of it, the characters, right down to the title. If there'd be a novelization made topping the charts of that genre, I wouldn't be surprised.
@DeadManSinging19 жыл бұрын
+jlovebirch Is that why they adapted both Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas? Because they are "insanely imaginative" and "prolific" and don't need novels for ideas? Not to mention that The Matrix movies just took ideas from every 80s cyberpunk novel ever written. The only truly great film they've made is probably Bound. Also you are right about one thing, they are most certainly "insanely" imaginative, but not in the way you mean.
@GalanDun8 жыл бұрын
I KNOW! I woulda sworn that while I was watching it! I could have believed that they made a bad adaptation of a really cool book, but FUCK it's even worse when it's not.

Based on how Brad described his Bee Dodge Skill off the porch, I just imagined the house exploding behind him like a late-80's, early 90's action movie scene.

I haven't seen the movie, but in every review nobody ever mentions _why_ Channing Tatum _had_ wings. If he's part wolf, then why would he also get _wings_?
@UtterContradiction9 жыл бұрын
+Master Markus The wings were given to the group of soldiers he used to be a part of, but were torn off when he killed that important person (a part of the plot I thought would get resolved...) and he was kicked out. So he wasn't born with them or anything.
@mastermarkus53079 жыл бұрын
Oh man, way to add random details for no reason, Wachowskis. Either way, I would understand if they were maybe robotic wings, in every clip I've seen they look like they just pulled them off of a giant bird or something.

Listening to this midnight screening was what got me to see Jupiter Ascending. Like Brad, I was mesmerized by how insane it was. Not a good movie, but hard to stop watching. It would have been amazing if Michael Sheen played all three of the main villains, including the woman. After seeing it, I felt like Jupiter Ascending is a live-action Final Fantasy movie; Mila Kunis is the foreign/ignorant protagonist who provides context for all the world-building exposition, Channing Tatum is the furry/bodyguard/shoe-horned love interest, and the villains are hammy and scenary-chewing.

Well dude, I was happy to watch this review first, before thinking of going. From what I heard, this film has no idea what it wants to be. The Wachowskis have been the shining example of what I don't want to be, and really...Good lord, I feel bad about making them the examples of bad directors/writers. So this movie is...not original. It's like they tried to blend all features of better Sci-fi films. Though to give the Wachowskis credit, this would have been interesting story, The only problem is it's Star Wars brought to our galaxy and they made it far worse then the Prequels (and I like the Prequels of Star Wars, not for the acting and casting choice but for the story) and this film was incredibly dull, and worse of all: Jupiter Jones. GOOD GOD! REALLY?! Jupiter Jones? They seriously didn't realize how bad that name was? However here's a better character name: Brad Jones. And I have conspiracy theory about your bee attacks; Bee assassination! 0_0 So yeah, Thank you again man, you saved from horrible movie. (Note: I am doing this to give you gratitude without sounding like a Psycho, again sorry for Green Inferno comment.) However, about Channing Tatum's character being a Wolf splice humanoid, I don't know which is worse: Him possible Fucking a dog or Jupiter wanting to fuck him after hearing he had in common with a dog? Still weird as hell!
