I had a friend who was a massive fan of these guys and they offered to pay for my movie ticket so I went along. Eh, I didn’t love it, but it was fine. It kind of reminded me of my obsession with the spice girls back in the day. My friend had accompanied me to some shitty movies that I’d enjoyed and I didn’t want to spoil their fun. They subsequently gifted me with a 1D poster that I “lost” the next time I moved. I didn’t despise this movie but I probably wouldn’t watch it again. Everyone go watch The Imposter or Dear Zachary (try to watch them without knowing anything). Those are some AMAZING documentaries.

The difference between boy bands today vs boy bands in the 90s is that at least back then, half of those bands could sing and there's actually some stuff that isn't half bad. Westlife, another UK boy band, could sing better than One Direction. I've never been into boy bands, but as someone who appreciates all kinds of music, I try to pay attention to every genre and find something good in it. But for all the jokes I made in the 90s about the Backstreet Boys, N Sync and LFO, those guys were actually talented vocalists and could actually hold a note live. They didn't need to be Mili Vanilli-ed for the most part. Boy bands today definitely need the autotune.

@kartoonfanatic8 жыл бұрын
Her voice is not as bad as some artists out there, but she's very overplayed. I Kissed a Girl and Unconditionally were pretty good after hearing them a few times, but after the 100th, they have the same effect as never liking them at all. Admittedly, I like her and Nikki Minaj more than I should simply because they both really don't like Taylor Swift. Now she would be a boring person to write a documentary on.

Hate to say it, but... "Spice World" had a "Help" vibe to it - a fictionalized "documentary" of a hugely popular British band… No, the Spice GIrls weren't the fucking Beatles, but I've seen both of those movies and it runs along the same line of ridiculousness + music. It's just that the music is way crappier. But Spice World didn't pretend it was a documentary and neither did Help; This thing does.

Morgan Spurlock, the guy who made the vegan propaganda film? There are plenty of things wrong with McDonalds. You could make a good honest documentary about it. Shame he had no intention of doing that. Also, Greg Land was probably tracing the Backstreet Boys comics by Stan Lee.
@StonedGremlinProductions6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, implying vegan food is better for you than McDonald's...such propaganda...
@geoffreysorkin57746 жыл бұрын
I didn't say that. My problem with the movie is that Spurlock implied that his results would be the same for everyone. He went from walking over 10,000 steps a day, and being a vegan, to only eating Large and Supersize at McDonalds at least 3 times a day and walking I believe 2500 steps a day maximum. Of course his health turned to shit to the point of nearly killing him. Also, of course being a vegan is healthier than eating fast food regularly. If he wanted to make a documentary that said that, he could have done so honestly. If he wanted to make a documentary about how McDonalds is among the least healthy food in the world, he could have done that honestly. He instead chose to make a film where he presented an extreme case as the norm. That is to veganism what Blackfish was to animal rights.
@zubileegluckgluck5 жыл бұрын
@@geoffreysorkin5774 That just sounds like he began living like someone who eats a lot of McDonald's. People who eat a lot of fast food tend to be lazy and stupid, and no one who eats that much garbage has the energy to walk 10,000 steps a day. Seems like he made it extra honest, if you look at it realistically.
@geoffreysorkin57744 жыл бұрын
@@zubileegluckgluck Again, I don't eat fast food. Usain Bolt ate nothing but Chicken McNuggets for the entire Beijing Olympics. You can eat pure refried shit and exercise. The average New Yorker walks close to 10,000 steps a day. Morgan Spurlock before the movie didn't exercise any more than the average New Yorker. He changed to the walking amounts of the average American, and to a diet worse than the Average American, from being an extremely healthy (and RICH) New Yorker who did average exercise.
