Cool video. I've had this game, the remake, for years. Tried to play it a while back and could not figure it out. Now I am trying again and I am slowing getting a understanding of how to play it. Story is interesting so far, but I'm afraid I was not into gaming when this type of game was mainstream. But I want to finish it so trying to figure things out. Your videos have helped a lot.

You would make a great dungeon master for a dungeons and dragons game. Good luck with the book cant wait to read it.

Aside from the LoR parallels, I always felt there were Narnian and Oz analogies too. The obvious one with Narnia being the ice-covered world; but arguably Farflame is an Aslan-like figure. The Oz link is more tenuous, but it was the 'recruitment' aspect and the sense that Morkin was this somehow 'lost' figure that brought that feeling to me. As you mentioned, basically everything is somewhat derivative of Tolkien, which in itself is drawn from The Saga's and other Scandinavian mythology. The thing that marks out LoM for me is that maturity to the language that you pointed out, and the innovative 'ice-fear', along with the multi-faceted nature of the quest (ie 4 main characters that you play, as well as two ways to win). Translating these seemingly quite prosaic game innovations, which in fact gave the game a revelatory freshness at the time, into prose form must be quite a challenge. In themselves, these innovations are unexciting as narratvie devices, especially from a distance of 30 odd years. Thus, I am pleased to hear how you are seeking to use things like 'ice-fear' as a differentiator, and to retain that sense of 'grandeur' that the mature writing conveyed - which sounds like a good way to try to ensure that freshness is not lost.Looking forward to the book.

I saw a first part seeing you playing LoM and expected that in this part you will finish it as you said in a first part. Is that some misunderstandings?

I think your pronunciation of "Xajorkith" was fine - Chris gets that one wrong all the time! :P ...but your "Lords of Midnight" could do with some extra practice!
