Can I get some clarification on what you said about the 50 shades of Grey series? Personally I hated it, but I also don't see anything wrong with someone developing a story from a fanfiction they wrote?
@AmandaTheJedi
@AmandaTheJedi 4 жыл бұрын
@@amywonderland9297 Oh, it's more a joke. There are a lot of similarities between Twilight and 50 Shades (obviously) but when EL made Grey (50 shades from Christian's perspective), it really felt like she must have gotten the idea from Stephenie and Midnight Sun, considering the whole thing came from Twilight to begin with. I do think there were some issues with the original publishing of the 50 shades books because they lied about them being vastly different from the Fanfiction she had already written and what she had self published previously.

@@noelbernabe8704 yes absolutely. I have read somewhere that Stephenie said that in every scene of Twilight she knew exactly what Edward was thinking (and the other people) and what he has doing and it's just so amazing how she put them all together. Another example, the scene in the cafeteria when Edward says something like "Jessica just analyses all my moves and is gonna tell them later to you" but in Midnight Sun we find out that the reason he looks away distracted for a moment is because of Rosalie yelling at him in her thoughts, not Jessica. That's not the same as the window, but still a detail of many that made the book even more interesting

I got the feeling with the new Rosalie scenes-like when she was coming around to trying to give Bella a chance-that Meyer regretted how she'd handled Rosalie and would have changed it if she could, but that her hands were tied by having to follow the original book. But I could be wrong.
@talynhastime9343

Kyra Proulx yeah what is up with that. I wonder if Jasper kept his prejudice of black people all these years, cuz you can’t have a character’s backstory be a Confederate vampire soldier and NOT think “hm, what are his thoughts on race relations?” Cullen was also born in a time before black civil rights but he didn’t fight in a war to keep slaves. I will give Jasper the one benefit of the doubt and assume he was like most Confederate soldiers-poor, fighting to defend from what they were told was an invasion by the North to assimilate them to Northern living (which yes did include abolition of slavery). But Jasper arguably lived the longest as a “villain”, so... how did these conversations end up going? How long until Jasper stopped referring to black people as the N word, because YOU KNOW HE DID ALL HIS LIFE, YOU JUST KNOW HE DID. Does he think the word in his head? Does Cullen have to hear it and inwardly cringe every time? I have so many questions and it speaks volumes of how much lack of foresight Meyers had when creating this character.

I've always thought Jasper had the most underrated power. Like the dude could literally take over the Voltori by just making the King's and their Guards all feel immense pain or sadness so strong they couldn't move. After that it's just a few seconds of head ripping and we have a new Vampire king....
@laceylee6797

Thank you!! I always just thought about how he could've manipulated the volturi's emotions to calm them down in breaking dawn? To avoid even a potential fight? Or what you said.. Or when Edward thought Bella died, why didn't they invite him over and as they told him, jasper calm him down?? Then no one would've gone to the volturi and there really wouldn't have been an obstacle to keeping Bella a human (besides her i guess). Also, would thirst be considered an emotion like desire? Because if so, can't he then control vampire thirst? That would be pretty OP. Like what all counts as emotions he can control? Also, that one girl in Part 2 that could blind people to their real surroundings, instead of focusing in bella's shield, why didnt they help her expand to using it on multiple people? Then blind the entire volturi and bam, easy win. Sorry but the powers in this universe are insane and can easily be so OP. Like a vampire controlling fire?? (the egyptian guy), isn't that one of the few things that can kill a vampire?? And he can CONTROL IT????
@laceylee6797
@laceylee6797 4 жыл бұрын
@Cela Whitney I still think Alice would've been better for Jasper though, he went through a lot and Alice is able to look into the future and see if he's about to break and view each scenario to dictate what's the best course to help him. Bella deserved someone that would be better at taking care of her but so does Jasper. I can't really see Bella being optimistic enough to counteract his war-torn mind that's probably very depressed like Alice is able to. Although, since finding out about the confederate army thing I've been a little iffy on him, wish we saw maybe some more of his human life to find out how he got there. If it was a racial thing, maybe have some sort of redemption...

im pretty sure it’s cause as edward describes it he says it’s a SUBTLE gift, and i feel that from from the way jasper uses it in the books, it is indeed. i don’t think he showed any capability of overwhelming anyone with his power and it also just seems to help him read a room well, also since the cullens and the voltori are aware of his ability it would be pointless to really use it on them? he really only uses it when bella’s around to make her feel comfortable or ease her nerves. if he tried to calm the voltori they’d probably be more pissed.
@SatomeAlexiana
@SatomeAlexiana 4 жыл бұрын
@@Isa-cq5dp In the books I'm pretty sure the only reason it was described as 'subtle' was to make it seem like a weak gift that was out shined by Edwards. I mean he went from a man nicknamed the "God of War" who could calm and intimidate a room full of feral newborns, to a man who only used it on a bland, emo, teenage girl to make her feel less awkward. And just because they know he is the one projecting the emotion, I've never seen any of them say they could stop feeling it, or just ignore the feeling he was make them feel. After all if he made the Voltori feel pain so unbearable they couldn't move, what are they gonna do about it? Sure they could also start feeling rage for making them feel pain, but it doesn't mean they can do anything about it further than that.

Rosalie IS physically gorgeous, and it's not like SHE was in any danger. Why would Jasper try to hide her? She was a great distraction from Bella, and she obviously enjoys attention. No doubt she regularly makes a spectacle of herself. If males were busy looking at Rosalie, he probably hoped they wouldn't notice Bella. The book makes a point of how expert Jasper is with his powers. This would have been obvious to him. It's no accident that no one noticed HIS wife during that encounter.

(Time has slowly been releasing Robert Pattinson from the screams of the fangirls. Finally he can walk down a street without mobs chasing him. The nightmares had disappeared some time ago.) Robert woke up, sweat drenching his face. His breathing was completely ragged but it slowed as he took in the faint silhouette of his bedroom. Faint but familiar. He felt sick, like his stomach had suddenly grown tired of its home and wanted to exit through his throat. Queasy would be a fitting description. Had he eaten something bad the day before? Then he remembered why he had awoken so startled...he had heard them. ...They were back, the howling shrills. He rushed out of bed, nearly buckling from the head rush. Robert scrambled for his laptop and fumbled with the lid. It couldn’t be that day, it couldn’t. Not so soon. He had been dreading it, but it couldn’t- it just couldn’t be that day yet. ... ...The screen didn’t lie. The 4th of August. The book’s cover, displayed ever so proudly next to the date. The pomegranate, cut in half, so unsettlingly similar to his heart which he could still feel was stuttering. The insufferable lump in his throat found its old perch. Midnight Sun...a new book. Not just an addition, but an additional novel from his character’s soul perspective. The fangirls had been awoken, as had their screeching presence in his sleep. The day of reckoning had arrived.

regarding jasper in school, i subscribe to this fan theory: jasper has magic empathy, he picks up on and feels the emotions of others. at bella's party, he would have been feeling the thirst of 6 other vampires, including edward, who has a magic obsession for bella's blood. key point-- in the book jasper was hanging on okay until edward literally threw bella into a glass vase to "protect her". now she's bleeding bigtime, and it's more plausible for jasper to break. so unless there's a major accident at the school he should be okay (it's still super irresponsible of all of them, even with alice's magic future vision things can go wrong. i don't think she saw the Accident (tm), and that would have been a disaster for all the vamps if eddie hadn't stepped in)

I thought that was cannon? That he could feel others emotions? and in turn manipulate their emotions? Or am I remembering wrong? In the book (Twilight) when Edward was telling Bella about his vampire family, didn't he say that was one of the reasons that the vamps who recruited him for the army liked him, cause he could rally a crowd or calm them down? I might be mixing this up with some other character from a different fandom though...

I found the loudness of Renee's thoughts interesting as it possibly relates to Renesmee's abilities. In "Breaking Dawn" they talk a lot about the role genetics play in the special abilities vampires have. It's even touched on here with Charlie and Renee. But when you combine Bella's shielding abilities, her mother's mental loudness, with Edwards mind reading, I see how you could get Renesmee's abilities. I bet if we ever get "Breaking Dawn" from Edward's perspective, we would learn that Renesmee's thoughts are louder than usual when she's trying to share them and quieter than usual when she's not. But that's just a Theory... A Twilight theory. :)

12:49 - Why is there deeper symbolism and metaphors on the covers than in the books? The comparison of Bella to Persephone is brilliant, along with the previous covers: “Twilight”: the apple (“forbidden fruit”) “New Moon”: the bloody flower (the birthday when she gets a paper cut) “Eclipse”: fraying red ribbon (Bella’s break from Jacob) “Breaking Dawn”: the queen’s pawn (Bella as vampire)

My favorite parts of this book and what I think make it a worthwhile read (and SO much better than "Grey"), and also different from the unfinished version that was released was all of the extra stuff that we didn't see from Bella's perspective, for one, Bella. For some reason, her personality comes off COMPLETELY different than Twilight- she's actually a fleshed-out character, you see her personality much differently. You see inside the minds if everyone around Edward, which I especially thought was interesting when we were able to see the full extent of Alice and Jasper's powers (side note, I'm in love with Jasper now?) I also think that Meyer's writing felt very much the same, but perhaps slightly more mature. There is much more detailed descriptions of Edward and Bella's physical attraction to eachother, whereas in Twilight I was always irritated we only got "made my heart race, ran out of breath, made me dizzy, etc". If you are a reader that is okay with long inner monologs, and I mean pages and pages of thoughts between dialog and action, and you enjoyed Twilight, give it a read. I for one, waited TWELVE YEARS for this book and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest

I've always wondered: Twilight vampires are of course stuck at the physical development of when they were turned (I guess, haven't read any of the books). Do they also remain frozen at the emotional level of the age they were turned? This would explain why a 100+ year old man would still hang around a high school, and be willing to date high school girls, instead of older, more emotionally stable women.

Men are just essentially eternal 12 year olds. And it always depends on the circumstances that change you mentally. It's not that the brain continues to grow physically. it does shrink after a certain point due to age. If anything, theoretically we could assume the "abilities" are really just the brain opening up after turning into a vampire and accessing sections we previously couldn't.

Yep, that's pretty much it exactly. I remember reading years ago that Jane, the Volturi girl who could project pain onto others, was wanted by the Volturi since she was a child, and they actively waited for her to grow into her teens before turning her so that she would be mature enough to carry out the work they needed her for. Same thing with the immortal children, they never mature enough to control their thirst and emotions and therefore one bout of anger can lead to a massacre

I've always thought that Meyer has some great concepts, but lacked the ability to flesh out those concepts into fully realized plots. Ex-partners and an ex-friend who wanted more than friendship. Thankfully, I knew who my stalkers were and could get rid of them by moving from state to state (more than once). The ex-friend was the one I worried about the most because he paid someone on the internet to find me (back when it was actually harder to find people online) and he called me asking about the place that I worked. Totally freaked me out. I was ready to call the cops until he said that he was in one of the Carolinas but I stopped answering the phone and got caller ID so I could see the phone number that was calling. I'm still afraid he'll show up some day even though it's been nearly 20 years now.

If you know nothing more about Twilight than that it's got vampires, it's really easy to misjudge the premise. Happened to me, too. I read the book back in 2009 when the hype was renewed due to the first movie coming out. I was 14 and everyone in my class was talking about it. I've always liked creepy stuff and it was around that time that I started reading and watching horror, so I thought that it might be something I'd enjoy and could talk about to people (something that's always been difficult and frustrating for me), so I was rather excited about it. He didn't just decide he loved her though bc she said his name? When he watched and noticed her interactions with people in the school he learned how selfless and caring she was. He fell in love with with her personality, her humor, the way she talked about her family, how she treats others even if he thinks they don't deserve it. I think he genuinely did care about her.

I’m not a fan of Twilight, but I am gonna read the hell out of this book. This sounds like The Trash to me. Like the best trash there ever was written, and does that make me trash for enjoying it? Maybe. But I will read this book and I won’t even feel a tiny bit guilty for it.

I know Stephanie Meyer said she wont write anymore Edward perspective books but man would I love to hear his perspective on the rest of the books. To make it easier, New Moon and Eclipse could be one book because of his role in both. 😁👍🏽👌🏽 Might I say, that I found Bella 100% more likeable (likely because of how he sees her), but maybe because the movies made me forget possibly how bright, witty and funny she was, on top of being selfless I would love to see..... *SPOILER ALERT* 1. His time away from Bella in Brazil 2. His Volturi encounters in Italy 3. When he finally decided that he would be ok with Bella becoming a Vampire 4. All of the Jacob arguments and jealousy 5. The wedding and the honeymoon 🙈 6. The birth of Renesmee and Bella's transformation 7. The final standoff with the Volturi

I've been thinking about it and I think New Moon could be two novellas, the first one covering what happened since the ending of twilight up to some time after he leaves Bella. I don't think we need to see all his pain and how terrible it was for him, his mind would probably be a very dark place. The other novella should pick up some time before he finds out about Bella's "suicide", describing briefly what he and the rest of the Cullens have been doing since leaving Bella and then covering how he feels thinking Bella is dead and decided to go to the Volturi, until after they return to Forks. Actually, I think everything you mentioned could be covered in a collection of short stories from his perspective. Maybe adding some stories from the perspective of other characters.

I love that in this book we could learn more about Jasper's powers. Like the whole James scene. James didn´t feel scared when he saw all the Cullens together but the moment he ACTUALLY saw Jasper, he knew he was lost. Like, he saw him and lost all hope, that's just how scary/ powerful he is.

Yeah!! But also i kinda didnt get that part, why was he so scared tho? Because if James didnt notice Jasper in the clearing why would his mere presence terrify him like that? Or was it because he was using his power to make him feel so?

I read the chapter that Stephanie released on her website soon after it was revealed that Catherine Hardwicke was the one that leaked MS. I loved it so much that it inspired me to rewrite New Moon from his POV because that was the movie I had the most troubles with... having been in Bella's shoes there. I wanted to know what he and his family were doing and how he was feeling while they were away. I essentially took NM and wrote side by side with it whenever he was with Bella and you could get her side, but I filled in his side of the story. I never published it anywhere because I was terrified of getting copyright struck, but my few friends that read what I had written (up to where Bella saved him before my life got turned upside down) said that they liked it more than Twilight and New Moon as it was much darker... having took my cue from Midnight Sun. Seems like such a waste of time now.. but I do love what I wrote when i look back on it. I agree with you that this was amazing.... and probably how it should've been done from the start. Now I want them all from his POV.
