@@amywonderland9297 Oh, it's more a joke. There are a lot of similarities between Twilight and 50 Shades (obviously) but when EL made Grey (50 shades from Christian's perspective), it really felt like she must have gotten the idea from Stephenie and Midnight Sun, considering the whole thing came from Twilight to begin with. I do think there were some issues with the original publishing of the 50 shades books because they lied about them being vastly different from the Fanfiction she had already written and what she had self published previously.

@@morphing_erebus I'm sure she took some precautions. To be fair that's not the only reason she's given for stopping the book and for taking so long with it. It's a long book in general (200ish pages more than twilight), Edward is a very anxious broody character which made her anxious while writing from his pov. She had to be sure to closely follow the dialogue and scenes from twilight and that kind of hurts the flow you get into when writing. And of course having the rough draft leaked. @@andeeharry My understanding based on something she'd written years ago after it all happened was that it wasn't "stolen". You have to remember that (unlike how the movies portrayed it) Jacob wasn’t just trying to win Bella’s heart because he wanted her to be with him instead of Edward. Kyra Proulx yeah what is up with that. I wonder if Jasper kept his prejudice of black people all these years, cuz you can’t have a character’s backstory be a Confederate vampire soldier and NOT think “hm, what are his thoughts on race relations?” Cullen was also born in a time before black civil rights but he didn’t fight in a war to keep slaves. I will give Jasper the one benefit of the doubt and assume he was like most Confederate soldiers-poor, fighting to defend from what they were told was an invasion by the North to assimilate them to Northern living (which yes did include abolition of slavery). But Jasper arguably lived the longest as a “villain”, so... how did these conversations end up going? How long until Jasper stopped referring to black people as the N word, because YOU KNOW HE DID ALL HIS LIFE, YOU JUST KNOW HE DID. Does he think the word in his head? Does Cullen have to hear it and inwardly cringe every time? I have so many questions and it speaks volumes of how much lack of foresight Meyers had when creating this character.

You know what really made me sad? When we found out more about bellas mum. The way she always wanted to be somewhere else, to never settle down and the want to keep moving... she made bella feel like she was holding her back, like she (bella) had to prove herself to be worthy of staying. Bella always felt like she had to work, to help, to not be a burden. And that is the reason why she has no self esteem whatsoever. Because she never felt like she was good enough in that way for her mum. Its obvious when ed read mums thoughts that it was an unhealthy relationship, that bella had to grow up fast to help this excuse of a mother. I always thought low of bella, because of the way she let Edward treat her... and in this book you can really find what I mean. He thought he knew everything, knew whats best for her and in new moon he even decided for her... he didn't treat her as equal for a long time and she just went with it... so easily she thought she wasn't worthy or that she didn't work hard enough for him to stay, and now we know why. Because she always had to work, she had the feeling that her alone never would be enough for someone to stay because her mum gave her that feeling since she was young. Very very sad.

I've always thought Jasper had the most underrated power. Like the dude could literally take over the Voltori by just making the King's and their Guards all feel immense pain or sadness so strong they couldn't move. After that it's just a few seconds of head ripping and we have a new Vampire king....
@laceylee67974 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! I always just thought about how he could've manipulated the volturi's emotions to calm them down in breaking dawn? To avoid even a potential fight? Or what you said.. Or when Edward thought Bella died, why didn't they invite him over and as they told him, jasper calm him down?? Then no one would've gone to the volturi and there really wouldn't have been an obstacle to keeping Bella a human (besides her i guess). Also, would thirst be considered an emotion like desire? Because if so, can't he then control vampire thirst? That would be pretty OP. Like what all counts as emotions he can control? Also, that one girl in Part 2 that could blind people to their real surroundings, instead of focusing in bella's shield, why didnt they help her expand to using it on multiple people? Then blind the entire volturi and bam, easy win. Sorry but the powers in this universe are insane and can easily be so OP. Like a vampire controlling fire?? (the egyptian guy), isn't that one of the few things that can kill a vampire?? And he can CONTROL IT????
@laceylee67974 жыл бұрын
@Cela Whitney I still think Alice would've been better for Jasper though, he went through a lot and Alice is able to look into the future and see if he's about to break and view each scenario to dictate what's the best course to help him. Bella deserved someone that would be better at taking care of her but so does Jasper. I can't really see Bella being optimistic enough to counteract his war-torn mind that's probably very depressed like Alice is able to. Although, since finding out about the confederate army thing I've been a little iffy on him, wish we saw maybe some more of his human life to find out how he got there. If it was a racial thing, maybe have some sort of redemption...
@Isa-cq5dp4 жыл бұрын
im pretty sure it’s cause as edward describes it he says it’s a SUBTLE gift, and i feel that from from the way jasper uses it in the books, it is indeed. i don’t think he showed any capability of overwhelming anyone with his power and it also just seems to help him read a room well, also since the cullens and the voltori are aware of his ability it would be pointless to really use it on them? he really only uses it when bella’s around to make her feel comfortable or ease her nerves. if he tried to calm the voltori they’d probably be more pissed.
@SatomeAlexiana4 жыл бұрын
@@Isa-cq5dp In the books I'm pretty sure the only reason it was described as 'subtle' was to make it seem like a weak gift that was out shined by Edwards. I mean he went from a man nicknamed the "God of War" who could calm and intimidate a room full of feral newborns, to a man who only used it on a bland, emo, teenage girl to make her feel less awkward. And just because they know he is the one projecting the emotion, I've never seen any of them say they could stop feeling it, or just ignore the feeling he was make them feel. After all if he made the Voltori feel pain so unbearable they couldn't move, what are they gonna do about it? Sure they could also start feeling rage for making them feel pain, but it doesn't mean they can do anything about it further than that.

@underlilacskyes4 жыл бұрын
@@AmandaTheJedi Honestly, I never thought about how well Alice and Bella would work together until now, and I have to agree. I'm almost disappointed that's not the story we got. But if I remember right, Stephanie Meyer is Mormon, and these books are littered with Christian themes and undertones. (She even said once that her purpose for writing the story was to write a cleaner, more innocent teen romance that didn't revolve around sex.) Edward wants Bella to live a full human life which lines up with the Christian perspective, which is basically that life's "happy ending" scenario is dying and going to Heaven. Living forever essentially takes away a person's chances of going to Heaven. He considers vampires (or at least himself) to be soulless and says multiple times that Bella would be giving up her soul if she became a vampire. That's a lot of emphasis considering the Cullens are supposed to be the good guys, and a rare exception to the rule. He even feels guilty and selfish at the thought of turning her, which would save her life. Edward is vehemently against sex before marriage. If he's stuck in the mindset of a 17 year old boy, one would think he would be at least a little more willing (read: at least a little horny a lot of the time). The whole premise of the last book is basically just alluding to the idea that abortions are sins and (I am 100% not implying that all Christians believe this) that a mother should never consider terminating her pregnancy, even if it poses a risk to her own health and life. That being said, I SERIOUSLY doubt a homosexual relationship (even hints of one) was ever part of Meyer's plan. The only thing I'm wondering now is: if vampires are bad and living forever is your ticket to eternal damnation, then why did Bella end up one? With all of these little plot devices and threads, it would have made way more sense for Bella to die of old age (with or without Edward). ... I'm sorry this took a turn towards the crazy around the third sentence. My inner twelve year old has resurfaced.

Robert woke up, sweat drenching his face. His breathing was completely ragged but it slowed as he took in the faint silhouette of his bedroom. Faint but familiar. He felt sick, like his stomach had suddenly grown tired of its home and wanted to exit through his throat. Queasy would be a fitting description. Had he eaten something bad the day before? Then he remembered why he had awoken so startled...he had heard them. ...They were back, the howling shrills. He rushed out of bed, nearly buckling from the head rush. Robert scrambled for his laptop and fumbled with the lid. It couldn’t be that day, it couldn’t. Not so soon. He had been dreading it, but it couldn’t- it just couldn’t be that day yet. ... ...The screen didn’t lie. The 4th of August. The book’s cover, displayed ever so proudly next to the date. The pomegranate, cut in half, so unsettlingly similar to his heart which he could still feel was stuttering. The insufferable lump in his throat found its old perch. Midnight Sun...a new book. Not just an addition, but an additional novel from his character’s soul perspective. The fangirls had been awoken, as had their screeching presence in his sleep. The day of reckoning had arrived.

I loved the part where Edward is picking out a shirt to wear with Bella to the meadow for the first time and he describes how Alice had a vision two years ago that Edward would need that shirt one day. I found the loudness of Renee's thoughts interesting as it possibly relates to Renesmee's abilities. In "Breaking Dawn" they talk a lot about the role genetics play in the special abilities vampires have. It's even touched on here with Charlie and Renee. But when you combine Bella's shielding abilities, her mother's mental loudness, with Edwards mind reading, I see how you could get Renesmee's abilities. I bet if we ever get "Breaking Dawn" from Edward's perspective, we would learn that Renesmee's thoughts are louder than usual when she's trying to share them and quieter than usual when she's not. But that's just a Theory... A Twilight theory. :)

Edward is essentially an abusive boyfriend/hubby looking back. He is creepy, controlling, dishonest, and overly-possessive/protective toxic boyfriend/husband. I was a naive 14-15 year old girl when I read it, and I thought it was romantic. Now, I know better. However, the biggest differences is that Joe is a Villain protagonist who is not ultimately rewarded by the world when it is revealed to them that to he is an abusive, hypocritical, misogynistic, narcissistic, and obsessive stalker and serial killer who justifies himself as being “protective.” For the most part, Edward is supposed to be seen as romantic and often gets enabled and/or rewarded by Bella, the other characters, and the universe of Twilight for being an abusive, controlling, creepy, dismissive, possessive, overly protective, and manipulative douche and/or stalker. I will say that, at the very least, Edward never killed Jacob, or any of Bella’s other friends who were toxic to her, only to justify it as “protecting” her.

It's been shown that everything about Vampires are meant to draw in humans, their looks, their eyes and even the scent of their breath is enchanting to them, it makes sense that Bella sees him as beautiful. On the other hand Edward sees his condition as a vampire as a curse, he sees his afterlife as literal hell on Earth. He will live until the end of time, suffering. My absolute favourite thing to discover from this book is Edward's interest in Rio, Brazil. Early on when he's thinking of where he can hide out from Bella's magnetism he says he has no where to go, confusing because he chooses Rio twice in the movies (in New Moon when he does abandon Bella and they pass through Rio again on their honeymoon in Breaking Dawn), so how did he end up there? Well upon overhearing where everyone's favourite holiday destinations are he hears Mike Newton, Edward's absolute crux of envy, say Rio Brazil which makes Edward SO DAMN PETTY. regarding jasper in school, i subscribe to this fan theory: jasper has magic empathy, he picks up on and feels the emotions of others. at bella's party, he would have been feeling the thirst of 6 other vampires, including edward, who has a magic obsession for bella's blood. key point-- in the book jasper was hanging on okay until edward literally threw bella into a glass vase to "protect her". now she's bleeding bigtime, and it's more plausible for jasper to break. so unless there's a major accident at the school he should be okay (it's still super irresponsible of all of them, even with alice's magic future vision things can go wrong. i don't think she saw the Accident (tm), and that would have been a disaster for all the vamps if eddie hadn't stepped in)
@booksbymarbles81683 жыл бұрын
I thought that was cannon? That he could feel others emotions? and in turn manipulate their emotions? Or am I remembering wrong? In the book (Twilight) when Edward was telling Bella about his vampire family, didn't he say that was one of the reasons that the vamps who recruited him for the army liked him, cause he could rally a crowd or calm them down? I might be mixing this up with some other character from a different fandom though...
