You, sir, saved my day. My SFC is showing a much more serious version of the light spots problem, because it is much more noticeable (the image is darker, but i.e., in NHL 94, every player's right edge has kind of a white halo to it, very difficult to explain, but the white spots on the left edge of the screen seem spot on with what you showed here, but worse) and looking on youtube I just found this video. Looks like I'll have to go shopping for some caps and solder things. Thank you very much for posting this video, and it is a really clear explanation of the problem and how to solve it! Quick follow-up, for anyone that's having a similar problem: it worked like a charm! Changed only the 6 caps you showed on the video, and I swear it never looked so crispy. Again, thank you very much for posting this video, it was literally a console saver. I thought it had no solution until this video.

hello, my problem is that the senario image is fine but the street fighter characters are like ghosts, do you know if it is due to the capacitors?😢

Dang I wouldn’t even tell this is a problem, if I don’t see super distortion or any busted or grimy caps I never mess with the caps. I’ve had to swap out the 4 cluster of caps in the past but I had severe distortion not just a dark image.

It's fairly minor, but annoying, color issues caused by those caps. 9/10 that is the fix.

How did u remove the pin connector?

Once you remove the screws you can just pull it off.
