If you run into this again, use a rotary grinder with a super small tip to carefully grind away the area above the pins to expose more surface to solder to. We had to do that on the Wii drives when they started clipping pins to prevent drive hacking. It will give you more area to solder to and usually keeps you from putting so much heat into the chip trying to get it to stick to the leg remnant.

I know I havs some games that have chip legs completely correded away from the chip that this might be handy for. Thanks!

Nice fix man! Not the easiest by any means. Your thumbnails are fine. Not sure why people can't understand the joke.

"Maybe I should switch to a different tip." Nah man. The J-tip is perfect for every job.

Droid Cam - might be a better option for your phone as a camera, since it doesn't cost nearly as much.

What micro scope do you use I’m in the market for one
@wilsvgaddiction44569 ай бұрын
I use an AmScope SM745NTP-B but I do not recommedn anything AmScope sells. They routinely mess up orders and their customer service is non-existet. Omano has a very similar microscope and you can get it here, though it is pricey. www.microscope.com/omano-om2300s-zoom-stereo-microscope-head.html A lot of people seem to prefer digital microscopes with an LCD screen like these: www.microscope.com/omano-cx3-2300s-v3-digital-inspection-microscope.html Pretty expensive and I know you can cheaper brans but I just don't know enough about them to suggest anything. I paid about a grand for my set up 5 years ago, I'm happy with it, and with the repairs I,ve been able to do I can confidently say I've made that money back but AmScope as a company is garbage.
