I think this watch may be the best deal out there for Swiss made. A decorated 2892 is crazy at the price point. Awesome case, dial and hands. Heat blued seconds hand, and the watch is very slim. I'm gonna buy one of these very soon.

I just bought a Baroncelli Heritage III. I'm very new to the watch thing and started seriously looking to buy my first watch about a week ago. After looking at hundreds of models from Hamilton, Tissot, Frederique Constant, etc, I saw a whole lot of watches that looked really nice but more often than not, there would still be perhaps one or two things that I just didn't really like very much. For instance, I'd love the dial and hands but not the numerals or I would love the entire face of the watch but the case is quite thick - things along these lines. This watch was basically the first one I saw that really impressed me and didn't really have any negative aspects. The eggshell white dial with that contrasting blue second hand just gives this watch a very smart, elegant look that I really appreciate. I'm very excited to receive this watch. It probably wasn't super practical to spend this much money on a dress watch when I very rarely wear formal attire but I'm going to play around with some different straps and see how I like this as an every day watch - at least until I decide to pick up one of the Jazzmasters I've been eyeing.

William you are right when you advocate for this (little known?) watch. As you say the case size and thinness are perfect for a dress watch and the simplicity of the off-white dial ensure the Mido exudes elegance. Many thanks.

I got mine last week and I love it. I put it on an authentic ostrich strap and now I think it’s perfect 👌

The Christopher Ward C5 Malvern 595 comes in thinner (albeit with no second hand) and cheaper. It's also hand-wind only, using the ETA 7001 movement, but that's fine for a dress watch. The stainless steel variants look a bit too Skagen-like for my tastes, but the newly released rose gold tone one looks very nice. Sea-Gull also has their D819.612, D519.612 and D219.612 Nomos homage watches, which according to a review on WUS come in at 8.5mm with the domed crystal, and can be found for under $200 (there's a mineral crystal version at just over $100). It's a bit thicker than the Mido, but still comes in thinner than most other mechanical watches. Other than that, you're basically looking at quartz watches. The Citizen Stiletto line is the best in my opinion. The annoying thing with quartz is the seconds hand will never hit all the indices perfectly (not counting some very high end models from Citizen and Seiko), so removing the second hand is a great solution and gives it an even dressier look. That then introduces the problem of not having any kind of battery end of life indicator, so being solar powered is the solution. Seiko also has their solar powered Cartier Tank homages, SUP880 and other models in the SUP line.

Beautiful watch. I bought myself a Mido Commander watch which boasts some fine color contrasts. Love the sun-burst silver dial, the charcoal and rose-gold markers and logo. Less expensive than yours and it has an 80 hour power reserve.
I was going to buy it, but the thing I'm most interested in is accuracy and durability??
@arno63464 жыл бұрын
The anh Vu I had mine for about half a year and worn it pretty much daily. It is very accurate (about 2 sec plus a day). I bumped in quite a few walls with the watch and it held up good. No scratches on the glass and only a minor scuff on the metal where I dropped it once.

"My only big gripe is the strap" I love it when this happens, the only problem is something I would have changed anyway haha. A fantastic watch for the price, definitely looking to get one in my collection although I would get it in gold :)

both the thinness and the annealed second indicator are amazing. But the movement decoration is unique in this price range.

I'm not a dress watch guy, but every once in a while the occasion does arise. The first thing that stood out to me was the texture on the dial, the second thing was how thinness. Such an elegant piece. And granted, Mido has no real notoriety, I think of them as a chrono/military-style microbrand, but this shows something that is thoughtful, and really respects horology. Were I to buy a dress watch, this would now be in the running with Glasshutte, Nomos, and the like. Great video.

Thanks for the review. What is the clasp you are using with this strap?
@oscargustavoarcosruiz87937 жыл бұрын
Yesterday I had the opportunity to try one of these in a boutic, this particular has the black dial and the egg shell texture looks awesome. It's very thin and comfortable and has the perfect size for a dress watch; the only problem is, as you said, is that the strap is not of good quality, but that's the least of it. Another problem, this if mallor, is that in this particular boutic they want $ 400.00 more than the same wristwatch costs at Amazon.

I bought this watch and love it. It was thin and look great. Unfortunately, the rotor noise make it sound that a very cheap watch. It rattle so badly that I had to return the watch.

I know I am a little late to this video but just wanted to add that the Christopher Ward C5 Malvern 595 comes in at 5.95mm in thickness and at $670.00. Of course it has a hand wound ETA 7001 movement so it gives up some thickness thanks to no rotor.

Excelent video! I have a question for you. I have a Mido Baroncelli. It is my first automatic watch. I have it since last Friday. It is a precious treasure and I want to take care of it. I already looked for instructions online in order to wind it up. There is a generic instruction or guidance for all Mido models on the official Mido website in Spanish. What is the correct way to do it? Does it have a screw-down crown? Can I wind it up 30 times with my thumb and forefinger (in the normal position that the crown currently is) or do I have to turn the crown three times in the opposite direction to unscrew it before winding it? I don't want to damage it. I really appreciate your help. I congratulate you for the excellent video.
@DavidMunoz-wt6lt3 жыл бұрын
I would to about 15-20 rotations maximum only when the watch is powered down completely. You can do with crown in.

As for thin dress watches. I have a Seiko dolce sacm 171. I think it's like 5.6 mm thick. It's quartz, but thermally compensated. The 8j caliber in it is also used in Grand Seiko and credor. 33.5 mm case diameter, small, but elegant.

Nice review, tho I wish you didn't skip/jump frames so often and I don't mean the ones that are like 30 sec where you change viewing angles, but there are many 1-2sec skips you have when you are just showing the dial. Just my opinion cause it kind of makes it looks like the watch skips unless it really does :O

Hi! Thanks for the review, it was very helpful and pleasant to watch! FYI, Mido delivered another dress watch, which is a COSC certified chronometer with silicon balance spring at 1130$ price point. It is pretty pale in design in comparison to this one, but with all the technology that went into creating it, I'm torn in between these two modeles. And there is not a single review of it on KZbin. Maybe you could fix this? Thank you in advance.
@wallyboy236 жыл бұрын
Epher Merk this is obviously late, and you might have already made a purchase. The mido you mentioned with the powermatic 80 and silicone is nice, swatch uses the same movement in the tissot ballade. The only thing is service cost. Those can't be worked on by every tom dick and Harry watchmaker. The 2892-A2 will ensure any half decent watch maker can work on it for the rest of your nature life, for a more reasonable price.

It's really a great review, waiting for more awesome reviews. I think the Rider M005 watch from seagull is also a great option it is just 9 mm thick and features miyota 9015, off course not comparable to swiss movement but watch comes just under 200$.
@WatchesAndCars7 жыл бұрын
+Raj Oak The Raider M005 is a great option. I would go for the Tisell Bauhaus instead tough. It got the date at 6 o'clock which is more true to the original Bauhaus design. It got the same Mioyta 9015, which is a great movement and comparable to ETA IMO. Unfortunately It's 1mm thicker. Both are great watches and you cant go wrong with any of them. Regards GAW

I get a bit more of a classic watch. A casual watch. Hence, it's part of their Heritage line. Beautiful, yes. But not exactly a 'dress' watch. Their Belluna, Multifort or Commander, that's a dress watch. OR a Baroncelli with a guilloche dial.
