I bought the watch that got me into collecting almost 9 years ago (2 years into my career). It was a Certina C-Sport. One of the recent Certina lines that isn't part of their DS collections. Office watch: Speedy “reduced” (38ish mm) on a none other than Teddy B black alligator strap (18mm). The first watch I bought as a young professional was a weekend watch, a Casio Pro trek, a few of years after graduating, must have been in 1996. Before that I wore a Casio DBX-103 Data Bank Calculator watch I bought whilst in University, I am an Engineer. Then in 1999 I bought a Longines Conquest, thus called back then. It is the exact same watch as the current 35mm Conquest Heritage, but without the word "Heritage". Around 2005 I bought a TAG Heuer Carrera Twin Time and started my watch collection.

My first “watch” (excluding smartwatches) was a vincero, specifically the icon automatic. It sent me down the rabbit hole into learning about watches, and lead me into buying its replacement, the tissot gentleman titanium. I wear the gentleman to work every day (sales job) and wear the vincero as my beat up watch. While I now know vincero isn’t a great brand, and am still within the year return policy, I plan on keeping it for the simple reason that I like the design and it ignited my love of watches! My grail watch is the omega aqua terra 41.5, but unless I win the lotto I will probably never own it! There’s just something about the classic blue dial watches that I can’t get enough of. I’ve also found I like the weight of the stainless steel and size of the automatic a bit better!

of course the Bambino Gen 2 is THE choice for a mechanical dress watch under $200. For me, if you’re looking to spend in the $500 range, The Tisssot Gentleman Powermatic 80 can’t be beat. The newer design with the crosshairs dial is stunning, and goes with everything. 9:09 - that Mido looks incredible, wow

I'm an "old" business professional and my "go-to" pieces are my Hamilton Field Auto Leather Strap (get tons of compliments; more than any other watch I own) and my rose gold Tissot Tradition GMT (quartz). I have my eye on that Seiko!

Big fan of the Baumatic. Young professional here too and in the market for my first dress watch. Definitely a candidate!

My first watch was the Tag Heuer Formula 1, quartz version. I know a lot of people hate tag heuer, but I love it! I wear it everyday even though I have better watches now, very special watch for me.

IMHO, you can't go wrong with the Bulova Lunar Pilot. Not only it's right at the $500 mark (and won't lose value), but it is also one of the most versatile watches out there. It is also a good conversation piece with real history.

What’s a good watch for EDC yet can take it hiking while not being too bulky? (Preferably with an analog digital display)

My favorite COSC is one I bought 7 years ago for about $500 Invicta in chocolate brown dial. 500 meter water tight too.

Great video as always, Teddy! What would you recommend for someone who purchased a tissot le locle silver dial, because of its good looks, simplicity yet elegance in nature, and of course your reviews, but feels a bit short/small on when I join/sit in the big table (Rolex, JLC, etc) I'm trying for a longines but feel an IWC portofino is better if I save up, Omega De vile feels to mature and old design wise. I would like a black/brown leather strap, light colored dial to easily match day/evening events/attires. (Tried Longines dress watches, omega de vile and IWC portofino, even tried Cartier Tank quartz since they're pretty much around the $4k)Thank you.

I went from a Casio A158 to a Timex Marlin to a Seiko Presage with an open heart and have my sights set on the next tier of watches soon. That Longines Spirit might have to be next on my list but I still have a Hamilton Khaki Field auto and a couple of different Seiko 5's that I want to add first!

I love "dress" watches. I tend to wear a watch based on what I'm doing, and on a lazy day around the house or out shopping I'll often wear a dress watch. It's ironic to me that my dress watches are my least expensive Orient Bambinos and Seiko 5's. Although my GS Snowflake can be dressed up no problem.

the sector dial mido multifort is a true hidden gem. but the oris pointer date will always be a timeless classic no matter how fringe or mainstream it may become.

@@willl6551 it's all personal taste. and tastes can change. the first time i looked at watches with power reserve indicator i thought that's the ugliest thing possible to be put on a watch dial. a year later i purchased a second hand tudor north flag and now aspiring to own a grand seiko someday. you might come around to the pointer date too given time who knows.

That model wearing the well-tailored suit and white shirt, the Cartier Tank XL really completed the professional look. The Omega DeVille would have too, but the Cartier gave a more polished look. The Baume & Mercier and the Longines watches would also be nice professional watcches, the Baumatic in Blue a bit less formal than a white or silver dial, but would really get people's attention. The Tissot Le Locle would really work well for quite a range of young professionals or for more dressy occasions where a suit & tie or a tux are expected. I generally don't care for Roman Numeral dials, but those on the Le Locle are really nice.

For Hamilton if you wanted to stay in the khaki line, the khaki king with the champagne colored dial I think is a little dressier than the one you chose. Has some decent polished parts of the case 👍

My "office" daily is the Islander ISL-82. 38mm field watch, NH38, 100m water resist, blackout DLC case, sapphire AR crystal, highly legible dial and handset in all lighting conditions with no fauxtina. Yellow second hand on black dial is a personal favorite color combination. Came with leather-back black canvas strap with yellow contrast stitch, swapped for a plain black elastic para-band that won't discolor and deteriorate as obviously with dirt and grime. I work in an automotive repair shop. It's not getting knocked about and abused, but it's not getting babied and taken off while working, either. I'm careful what I do with my hands as it is to prevent injury. Doesn't draw attention to itself in a blue-collar environment, stands up well to daily shop wear, more compact than a G-Shock so less likely to get in the way in tight spaces. Sure, something like a Casio F-105 would have been the "sensible" choice, but I wanted something nicer.

My picks which no one asked for but Tissot PRX, Seagull 1963 , Sieko SKX 007 or 009, Omega Speed-master Michael Schumacher with leather strap.

I have bought a Tissot Gentleman quartz black dial this year. It is a beauty! Whenever I have it on, i keep checking it out throughout the day. However it tends to be slightly a little too flashy for my everyday office watch. Especially if i compare it with the Fossil watches everyone else seems to be wearing :/ So towards the end of this year I'm going to buy an Orient Bambino gen 2 V2 for my office watch. And until then I'm going to be happy with my Casio vintage A168 :) Cheers!

Thanks Teddy, I’d love to see a guide to watches for people who actually work in or around water every day. I’m a swim teacher and lifeguard so my watches will go with me into the pool EVERY day. Is 100m with a push-in crown enough? I worry some dive watches are too chunky when I need to work with children teaching swimming
