The scariest part of the movie is not from a scene, but from the IDEA that you would very innocently agree to go along with someone you consider a friend to a foreign country, not at all knowing exactly where they're taking you or what to expect, and then, after arriving, you realize it's a cult out in the middle of nowhere, and there's no way to escape or call for help. Being someone who's traveled overseas to non-touristy areas, that notion really struck me.

@@travis_redfern6771 I think you meant 'drama' film..horror never entered that picture..one of the most boring un-horror flicks 'labeled' horror that i've ever seen,and i've seen alot.They could of threw a cat at the screen sometime..i would of at least gotten a cheap jump scare out of that whole 90 minutes that i'll never get back.THIS 'Hole In The Ground' flick is A24's absolute worst movie that they ever distributed.Andrew Garfield's new 'Under The Silver Lake' from A24 is their next worst one..it's 2 hours you'll never get back either..just trash.I'll still stick with A24 ..where 'originality' exists.

Nick dude...Everyone has they’re own opinion, like I have about that film. You can’t just tell me what’s good or not cause you found it boring. My statement still stands despite that. It wasn’t some generic horror film like the trailer showed it to be, whether you found it boring or not.

I adored the movie but can we talk about how masterful this trailer alone is? How excellently they provided enough information to give you the premise and some of the thriller elements of the film without giving anything away? The way they blended the clips in with the music? I keep coming back to watch the trailer just because the breathing + violin part is such a bop. And, after seeing the movie, being able to watch all the clips flashing through at the end that inexplicably unsettled you when you first watched the trailer and now make sense with context and still unsettle you? Idk why but I’m intrigued by these kinds of movies, like Hereditary and Mother!. Like weird horror fiction. They’re disturbing but I’m weirdly into it. Edit: I do not think that these movies are deep or anything. Im just saying that these types of movies are something i never expected to actually “enjoy” or be entertained by because of how effed up they are, and i’m really interested in the concept of psychological horror instead of your typical supernatural and crime thrillers. That doesn’t necessarily mean i think that they’re the greatest movies of all time because there is always something better out there.

We re scared of what we can not understand. Sects are still a misunderstood and mysterious part of humanity. For sure not sure your classical horror film with ghosts coming out the dark and pitch sounds

What even was Mother? I legit understood NOTHING about it
@firstthings_first98285 жыл бұрын
@@kenny6459 Well there are many different takes on the movie but the most popular one is that Jennifer Lawrence's character is Mother Nature and her husband is God himself. The strangers in the beginning are Adam and Eve, the two sons were Cain and Abel, and the crowds of people were his worshippers. The movie is heavy with symbolism but when you go back and watch it with religion in mind, it makes total sense. That's why when her husband left abruptly, shit always hit the fan much like when God left and we started chaos again. Some people think he was Satan and the movie itself was blasphemy but it does follow the bible quite heavily and its from an atheists point of view really because the director is atheist.

@@firstthings_first9828 I don't know why but after watching mother i got so pissed at everything. Lol i liked the movie it was there in my mind for two days. And i watched with the same religious point of view.
