I live on the Texas gulf coast. One day I brought home a beautiful shell. I set it in the kitchen window. The next day I noticed that the shell was in the sink. I picked it up and found that a hermit crab was making his home in the shell. My husband drove the 40 miles back to take the crab back home.

They're so easy... I think the semolina is a cheap swap for ground almonds...but when I used almonds I didn't think it tasted as lovely so I've used semolina ever since 😊

You have many flowers that are edible. If it’s edible you can use them for tea or make jelly. Roses make a lovely floral jelly or tea. I didn’t see any in your yard but one of my favorite flower jelly’s is red peony. Apple blossoms are very good for a light apple jelly where you don’t have to deal with pulp.

My peonies didn't seem to do so well this year... Maybe it was too cold and wet 🤔 I do make rose petal jelly. And lilac too. I keep saying every year I'll get around to honeysuckle jelly but I end up forgetting to do it...😏 Interesting about the apple blossom. I wouldn't have thought to use them as I've always just used the apples. I'll have to remember to give it a try next year...thank you 💐

Your garden tour brought back childhood memories of when my grandmother came to visit. Mom and Grandma walked through the garden, naming each flower. That’s how I learned the names and how to care for them.

Thank you Marion for your video and sharing such a lovely day with us all. The beach walk took me back to my childhood in Scotland. So much fun picking up jewels. I am 10 miles from the sea here in the South and now I pick up anything. 😂 wood, stones especially holey ones ,so agree with you on that score. My favourite time is early morning you bump into the odd dog walker but no crowds. So nice to walk along the shoreline crunching underfoot. Love all the nooks and crannies in your garden,lovely to sit, cup of tea and stitch. Almond fingers yum,a most definite make for me. Watercolour wise what a beautiful rose, you have really captured it Marion.

I’ve enjoyed spending almost an hour watching your adventures. The walk on the beach, admiring your lute, in awe with your beautiful garden, the daily small paintings, the pretty rose, and to top it off a mouthwatering recipe I will certainly make after I’ve got my taste and energy back (got COVID atm). I made something similar like shortbread dough with a layer of jam in between, but not with the almond flour. You really glowed at the end of the day, filled with all the visual and smellable hugs from your roses and honeysuckles. Thank you for sharing ❤

Thank you Marion for taking us with you on the beach, such a paradise among all the stones. I love round smoth stones in different sizes and colours ❤ Holy stones! I have never seen any.😔 Your garden....ohhh....❤❤❤❤ some of your flowers are also in bloom here in Sweden now like the Philadelphus, some roses, honeysuckles, bluebells, daisies, foxegloves....with more.👍It's a lovely time of the yer. My goodness Marion! You are talented at everything you try! Yay! That is a beautiful painting! And the almond fingers look so very yummy!! Do you make scones too? I loved stopping at tea rooms for scones and cream and luckily my husband liked it too! I really liked the Devon cream and my friend and I made some once and it took all morning to make a small amount and we invited a neighbor over to have scones with us and he ate most of our mornings work in a few minutes! Thanks Kathryn... I'm actually not too happy about the rose painting. When I was watching it back I couldn't believe I had still used my tiny brush 🖌️ instead of changing up... I have just spent a wonderful day with you! Thank you. Your trip to the beach brings back childhood memories, from too long ago, of beachcombing for treasures. You are great company when I am sewing and I rewatch your vidoes all the time. It's 6 deg Celsius here in Brisbane, Australia, but by lunchtime, it will be back up to around 22 to 24 degrees. Philadelphus - looked it up, called Mock Orange by some and my Dad had one in yard (growing up). It smells divine. I love nothing more than rooting through beach stones (and other bits of beach finds). I was thinking, as I watched... I'm sure there are all kinds of lifestyles people can dream of or aspire to. Yours is the lifestyle of my dreams. My garden would look different but just as lush. To have a beach nearby to look for stones. And some of what you achieve and experience could be had by myself if I was a bit more ambitious! But if I had to describe the dream life, it would look a lot like yours. I love walking along with you through your day, like this. Thanks so much for letting us come along.

What a wonderful day spent with you Marion. Really enjoyed it immensely. Had my crochet and a cuppa tea and definitely wish I had one of those scrummy almond fingers. My Nana used to make those so definitely and old recipe that one. CWA ladies definitely have that one in their recipe book. (Country Women's Association here in Australia for those who aren't aware). Marion, thank you for the visit to the beach. I love finding beach glass, and it has become less and less over the years. But, I've never found red, what a find. Your garden is fabulous, and your knowledge of your plants is amazing. You have so many things gathered in your garden, just fabulous. Thank you for sharing your garden with us. What a wonderful video, the creativity and love for the natural world shine out of you, Marion. It made me smile, too, to see you cutting your almond fingers with a bone-handled knife. I use them too and my family think I’m mad, that I should get rid of them and buy something 'modern' 🤣 No chance!

No way Lulu 😱 They're the best knives for all sorts of things. We call them the butter knives here and no one would use a serrated dinner knife to butter the bread or cut some cake... They don't do well going through a dishwasher regularly.... But I don't have one so they last pretty well. The charity shops are good places to find extra ones though ☺️

How different your beach is from the one of my childhood! We went to a north Florida beach on the Gulf of Mexico every summer--white sand and turquoise water and seashells, no rocks, but each is wonderful in its own way!
