My professor Johnathan Singer at San Joaquin Delta College shared this link with his students and I'm glad that he did. this is a wonderful way of showing his students how live production takes place. From pre-performance to live action, this film clip shows his students what a sample of the work that takes place as the roles of everyone involved in the success from behind the stage as far as makeup and costuming goes till the actual production itself. Many thanks to everyone involved in this production. You have all set a prime example of what it takes to make a theatrical production come to it's fruition. Of course it doesn't show the behind the scenes details but it does show the after effects on stage when the actors are on stage in full costume and how the makeup works with the stage lighting. Great example for students to study.

There physical gestures and acting is absolutely brilliant, especially from Titania and Oberon. Truly great actors.

Peter Quince efforts here were pretty insane, loved Puck’s portrayal. What a great play, I watched from beginning to end for a module but it was so worthwhile and fascinating for its my first time watching a Shakespeare’s play.

I remember watching this version of the play once. I really loved the actor’s choices, the inflections, and everything! ^^ I’ve always wanted to play as Hermia! I honestly feel like i relate to her the most, considering the fact that im also short and my friend once described me as a “ferocious kitten.” XDD- Edit: LOL THE PLAY PART WAS LITERALLY THE BEST PART. Great acting is not what you put in. Rather, it's what you leave out. The great comic lines in this play can be lost if over acted

With the performers and presumably musicians close mic'ed you don't get the audience reactions at the same volume level as you'd hear live. They seemed to react at appropriate points.

The phrasing is patchy and falls quite a distance from perfection. A laudable effort that is much too rushed to allow for nuanced moments and movement, which would have accentuated the delivery and rendered it in the manner in which it was intended. Their British counterparts have an unfair advantage where this is concerned.
@thewheelieguy2 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree, this is a deliberate decision on their part to up the pace and stage things with madcap action, and emphasizes the humorous parts of the show. You can find plenty of more measured/lugubrious productions so I don't see the need to criticize this. I've directed two Shakespeare productions and currently am playing Peter Quince, while getting to largely direct the scenes with the players. I found a lot to take away from this show.
