Thank you so much for this. Putting at least an hour a day into this for the last few days and it's coming along.

Emmitt is the most humble excellent guitarist on earth today. Of course he's Canadian,so he plays that outside in snow bank to limber his fingers up,and warm up.

Hey Dave, I just discovered this beautiful instruction on an amazing piece of music by Rik. However, at the 12:07 mark of this video, you mention the hammer-on on the A string, then pull off to an open A. I believe what Rik does is - instead of hammering on at the 7-h9-p7 fret of the A string, he slides down the D string does a hammer on the 2-h4-p2. It also puts him in better position for the G string as his hands are right there. But that's being picky - GREAT GREAT work dissecting this song!

Hi Raul - Thanks for the tip, I will give that a try! Cheers!

I've seen Rik do that as well and is the way I play it also. Well, "play" might be an interesting word to choose at this point. I'm working on it and this video is a fantastic reference. Thanks, Dave for taking the time to create these videos!! :)

I've been playing that main theme wrong since this song came out; somehow only just now thought to see how anyone else plays it and the first one that popped up was exactly what I was looking for! Now I just need to unlearn what I've been doing for 35 years or however long... Nice work!

I so want to learn this amazing piece any recommendations on a nice acoustic for this tune, I'm looking for an acoustic. Thx.

Hi +Steven Dusza, there are just so many acoustics to choose from, and it will depend mostly on budget to be honest. What is your price range? Are there also other styles of music you would like to learn and play on acoustic. Also, are you just beginning, or have some experience? Let me know a little more about what you are trying to do, and I'll do my best to recommend some options.

Hey Dave, 26 yrs experience and I do know the 1,500 dollar taylors sound great of course but need one about 600 range I guess. Thx.

I like old rock Randy Roads etc, Pinball wizard etc, just a sweet sounding acoustic not mellow and low tone.

In that range, I'd probably suggest investigating entry level Martins, maybe the DX series. I love Gibsons and Taylors too, but the prices are a little higher, although Taylor does have some entry models (I think the 110 series?) that would be good to try out too. Good luck on the search!
