Like ammunition, reloading components are hard to come by and over priced. It’s one thing to know how to reload, it’s another to have the supplies you need.

Old school reloading, I love it. Went duck hunting in Oregon many years ago. One hunter with us had a modern 10ga. to reach the geese that were flying high above our hunting area. After about 6 shots of high brass he decided that the punishment was not worth the advantage. He walked back to his truck and brought back his old 12ga.

StalkerAroundTheCorner Hamsteram all I have is an ar-15. I live in NJ and I'm under 21 so there is no way to get a handgun (not even private sale) unless someone gifted one to me (I want a glock 17L. No one can carry handguns in NJ but guards and police so conceal ability doesn't matter). I had to go through a bs license system just to be able to get long guns and we still have "assault weapons" restrictions after all that.

When I was young I used to watch a ton of movies. And I wish I could remember the name, but the main character of this show I loved always used brass shells and ejected them over his shoulder. One time he threw them and accidentally broke a window that was intended for a stunt double to jump through later on. He gave an impromptu sneer and kept on the script.

The good news is that RCBS makes a sizing die in 12ga. The bad news is they don't make it in other gauges. I have loaded them with both black powder and smokeless. I am still trying to work up a load using smokeless though, getting close and will finish that project some day. For now BP is fun and works well enough.

Larry, why don't you market a simple 10g resizing ring for brass shotshells? Most of us that reload all brass black powder shells would be very content with just a simple press mounted sizer ring the shell could be pushed into with the ram and tapped back out with a small mallet and a dowel. The rest of the process is easy, but making a sizing ring or die is beyond the capabilities of most reloaders.

I fill to the top with equal depth powered and shot. My shells are old and thicker walled, been reused many many times and I try to replace worn out ones when I can find that right type of shell. I also load stainless bb's and not lead shot, the shotgun is so old that I use it strictly for home defense and only take it outside once per month to test fire and clean. Yes, it does the kind of damage you might expect, to splits a steel drum wide open.

The Magtech brass shells are designed for black powder with a large pistol primer, I have seen videos of fools boring out the primer to accept 209 primers. NOT SAFE. If you what brass that takes 209 primers and smokeless powder, Rocky Mountain Cartridge Works custom makes brass shells from solid brass rod, not from thin extruded brass tubing. They can machine the brass to most any chamber length that is not standard. They are not cheap but are well worth the money.
