jettrooper3rd, Unfortunately his company repeatedly takes advantage of its customers, and has a deplorable record of over charging. Matter of fact. the company scores a 1.7 out of five stars by a retail tracking company

What a great way of doing it, drill a hole, run the glue in, then use a dowel to force the glue into the crack. Fantastic! Thank you for the great advice!!

Thanks for the comment , If you go to a remote plain hobby shop you can get a glue removal gel it`s for removing Cynacrilate this stuff makes Crazy glue like kids paste might do the same for this stuff but Polyurethane is the same stuff they put windshields in with has to wear off ..Thanks

I need to make a repair just like that on my Savage Model 745 (same kind of shotgun as the Browning Auto 5, Remington Model 11, etc. but with subtle differences)

Does drilling the hole now weaken the stock even more with less wood 🪵
@jeepsblackpowderandlights43053 жыл бұрын
What they forgot to say was when youre done. You ram the wooden dowel in the holes and thus it fills in what you drilled.

I'm just too nervous to try this as this stock is dated January 8th 1901 it's a winchester model 1897 the rest of the gun is fine except the receiver which is cracked and locked up the bolt ain't ever gonna move but I wanna be able to hold it without fear of breaking of a hunk of the old stock

Wouldn't the holes you pierced be a structural weak point? I know it's easier to insert glue that way, but what do you do after? Leave them as is or fill them?
@localforearm16278 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Labelle i'm sure he fills them in but still your point stands

you leave the dowl he used to force the glue in there.

I got a old mosin that has a crack right at the hand guard well I should say right where the hand guard touches the stock so it's not on the removable hand guard but the stock itself!! Sorry not familiar with all the correct terminology lol. I don't think it'll mess with how it shoots but I'd like to fix it, was going to either buy another original laminated stock or get the Boyd's stock for it but don't really want to change much means it's a numbers matching gun at least every serial number I can find!! Even inside the barrel channel there's what looks to be almost marker with the correct serial number not sure if it was put there when refinished after the war or not!!! The gun is beautiful overall, hence another reason I'd like to keep it original!!! I got as much of the cosmoline off as I could(on the stock) but it's not warm enough to sweat it out till spring will the glue set up without taking the finish off and possibly some cosmoline being left in the wood?? All I did was wipe it down real good with mineral spirits!! Guess I could always buy the new stock and save the old one so it can be put to original if ever need be!! I plan for this to be a shooter, from what I can tell there's no loss of bluing anywhere and the rifling is excellent!!! Thanks for the uploads your a master of your craft would love to spend a weekend at the range with you and learn some of the knowledge you've accumulated over the years, guess I'll have to stick to yt lol!!! ;)

You can find M39 stocks on ebay. There are some old new stocks that are great. Some Tom's Pine tar and you got a beauty.

Careful using Gorilla glue on a stock, when the bottle says it will expand, they aren't kidding! Use it sparingly
@jerryschneider145 Жыл бұрын
Agree, I would never use that type of glue on a cracked gun stock. I would only use epoxy. He is right though, the wood must be degreased first.
@GarnettM12 жыл бұрын
Hi Larry do you have to wet the wood like some polyurethane laminating glues -Never used this Gorilla glue yet .

Is fixing small hairline cracks just cosmetic or is there real potential for serious breakage if they are not repaired? TIA!

Hi, I am wondering if you can use a Browning recoil spring on a Rem 11(the spring that goes over the mag). I have a 1927 12ga with a 5 shot mag. I have checked Numrich, Brownells, Midway, Ebay, ect without finding a replacement. I've seen a few people claiming they've done this successfully, but I'm still not sure about it. Any help from someone with extensive knowledge/experience with these guns will be much appreciated.

if you put the effort into lowering your S&H prices as you do in videos you would a great company to buy from. but 15-20.00 for some items that dont even cost that is just ridiculous! That's just the way it is!
