Thank you for this episode about Queen City. It almost sounded like you had heard from me! My great grandfather Benjamin Delbert Short, was born in Queen City in 1871, his mother, Caroline Blaine Short is one of the 200 or so buried under the waters of Lake Binder, and I found information about his father, Andrew Preston Short at the Adams County House of History in Corning. I found some land deeds signed by Andrew there. I too looked at the possibility of a connection between the Icarian community and Queen City when I was looking for the latter about 20 years ago. I have also come to a dead end concerning Queen City. I need to go back to the 1870 census and see if I can find any more information about the town. You would think that it would be there. Keep up the good work!

I have a trip to the Corning area planned...it would be nice to get some actual video footage of the area. The fact they put the sign up as a memorial shows their respect...they did t realize that cemetery was there..Thank you for reaching out about your geneology and stories.

While in the Kentucky lakes I learned of all sorts of submerged towns and cemeteries down there.

I'll have to bounce from state to state on this - I was shocked at how many there were. Iowa doesn't even TOUCH what the other states have - fascinating history. I'm sure with your boating experience you encounter some of that history!

@@midwestghosttown take a peak at a little town down in Tennessee at the end of the road on Kentucky lake called Danville. The top of the mill is still sticking out of the water! ;)

@@backwatersandbackroads I was taking a look at that lake - and noticed that the railroad bridge was half-sticking out as well! The Danville Bridge - was used by Louisville & Nashville as a route to Memphis. It just appears as this bridge jetting out to nowhere. Great example here - I'm going to talk about this briefly (maybe episode 3). Thanks for the mention of Danville!

Hey bud I love the content. Please get a sound diffuser and potentially røde pod mic to cut out the excess room echo. In the intro, look in to side chain compression or something of the like to make your vocals stand out over the song.

I really appreciate the advice on this...I've been using a headphone mic, but have been shopping around for a weighted mic...thanks for dropping a constructional comment. I was recording in my dining room with the fan blasting overhead. 🤣 I'm sure that didnt help. We'll keep polishing.
