If I could only have one of each... 1/2" drive - My long handle flex head SK. Gets the job done. 3/8" drive - Snap-On FX936 locking flex handle. Daily one I reach for. 1/4" drive - Snap-On TM737 swivel head. The PERFECT 1/4" drive ratchet.

All great choices!! I think I’d go with my FHLF80A in 3/8”, the SHLF80A in 1/2” and really any 1/4”, but it would need to be a flex head..

When space permits it I always use my long handle ratchet or breaker bar to break the bolts loose first then I impact them off saves a lot of wear and tear on the impact

Thats funny that you mentioned ratchets. I use a different truck brand for every size. but i enjoy using my mac tool axis 90 1/4" locking flex. snap on for 3/8, and matco for 1/2 the locking flex head 30" comfort grip. how is the matco 88tooth for 3/8 i could use another length?
@MidwestToolReview4 жыл бұрын
I really like the Matco88, 3/8th flexhead. I think the reason is, the handle has more of a positive feel in the hand. The bulkier, the less positive feel/feedback when you breaking loose or tightening a fastener. The Matco comfort grip is much thinner than Snap-On, and I like that. The locking mechanism is fairly easy to use, but I don’t award any more points for that feature when compared to Snap-on. Now, the gears seem to be slightly more corse than snap-on, but far better than most others. Overall, I’d score it at 8.5 and Snap-on at 9.5

@@MidwestToolReview when it comes to "locking" flex heads I only have mac , and Matco. the snap on button on the shaft never appealed to me. no that i think about it I do see what you mean with the comfort grip types.

I think it's funny you picked a standard length ratchets. I have a ton of ratchets and some are standard length. But in my box at work I've got everything stubby to extract long but no standard length. 3/8 drive is my main drive choice and of them i tend to prefer Snap-on 1st 72 tooth 1/4 standard length flex head with 3/8 drive anvil making it a stubby, 2nd 3/8 80 tooth bent handle flex head Snap-on about 13" ratchet, 3rd 3/8 80 tooth extra long flex head Snap-on 17" ratchet.

@@itsatoolthing6323 You miss understood. None of my ratchets are standard length. I would consider a standard length 3/8 matco .....

I see you did a instinct handle swap, Ive swap handles on a bunch of my snap on's. I did a stubby screwdriver handle on 1/4 T72, I had to grind the handle down a bit. I gave it to my 8 year old son to use, the stubby is easier for him to grip.

That Mac axis is the best ratchet in that box...
@MidwestToolReview4 жыл бұрын
I’m not willing to make that statement!! I’d say it’s in-line with every other brand, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best. There has been more broken claims against the new Mac Axis ratchet than there should be based on its perceived quality.

I have that SnapOn 1/2 inch. It was my dads. That's my go to for 1/2 drive stuff. Love this ratchet. I've been using a 3/8 Pittsburgh Pro 72 tooth for awhile now, no issues, feels good while using it. I have a Pittsburgh Pro 1/4 drive swivel head that's been great so far.
